- Not recorded live because I think it's important to be TRUE to Frank Mills original composition...I recorded the background track using GarageBand and then played my own background chords and then recorded the melody on top. Truly one of the greatest modern pieces of pop composition. I hope you enjoy it.

OMG! You know your playing is absolutely amazing when you bring tears of joy to someone who's listening! This song means so much to me, and other people, who grew up with happy and treasured memories of childhood and early youth at the time this song came out. Those memories all come flooding back to my mind's eye whenever I hear this song. Your dulcimer rendition is absolutely perfect for such precious reminiscences of a time long gone by--I can't thank you (and Frank Mills, of course) enough!

Thanks so much...this song resonates from my childhood. My mom played it over and over. Frank Mills, the composer, actually gave me permission to do this, albeit, with a mechanical license. You should look up another of his great songs...Fun Song.

The dulicimer has a lovely rich tone that some instruments lack, and I love this arrangement of the song. The pacing is crisp and yet unhurried -- all in all, one of the best versions of this song that I've ever had the pleasure to listen to. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Hi Tony. I must say "Thanks". About 8 years ago, it was this video that introduced me to the world of the Hammered Dulcimer. I had, of course, only been searching and listening to the many variations of "Music Box Dancer" on UA-cam, and after seeing this one, my search became one on anything Hammered Dulcimer - both HD music and how to play HD. I knew then that I NEEDED to have one. It took me several years to find one (I'm in rural Australia) but the addiction hasn't left me. :)

I'm a singer-songwriter and composer, and though I love the sound of dulcimer never had one till now, now i'm learning to play it and including bits and parts to my new songs. I just love it.

The most lovely and beautiful version of this grand song yet!!!!! If my hands had never gotten smashed up at such an early age, the hammer dulcimer would have been 1 of the 12 instruments I would have very much liked to have mastered, on my way to becoming the greatest musician to have ever lived!! would love to hear the dulcimer next do maybe "Do The Hustle" by Van McCoy??!!!

cool--I look forward to hearing the new stuff! I haven't played the piano since I moved out of my parents' (waaay back when)--just have had no access but I should. When I was younger I played a bunch of instruments (taught myself sitting at the piano) but as an adult have gotten away from it, though I love music. Fabulous that you have stayed with it.
