That's pretty typical, anti catholics only hate catholicism because they have no clue what the faith is (original Christianity) and that's partly due to the church rejecting mainstream secular materialism which unfortunately is what our culture got sucked into over the last 80 years or so. St Ambrose Catholic Church (built 1963) in Cheverly, MD had a huge stained glass window devoted to Mother Frances Cabrini! So happy that they tell her story.

Don't you feel it's up to each of us to accept that love and strength to give it to others? I’m Catholic and I don’t like how the trailer portrayed a Catholic saint as a feminist. St. Mother Cabrini was virtuous. This almost makes a mockery of saints and it’s insulting that they would use a saint to push their narrative. Imagine if they did that with a Muslim or Jewish person? But they do it with our Catholic saints and it’s disrespectful.
We Jews have *many* such strong women who would not back down from power, speak truth to it, and who get things done - and we’re very proud of them! A movie like this about a number of them would be very welcomed.
She wasn’t a feminist but she was tough she lived in a man’s world, and her assertiveness was thought of feminism. She was just a very determined woman to do Gods will and she wasn’t submissive to any man.She was a powerhouse saint and wouldn’t let anything get in her ways despite her health problems. All for the glory of God.
Where was Jesus Christ in the movie? I only heard the word "God" ONCE! The script managed to sidestep Mother Cabrini's faith in GOD -- they only highlighted HER faith in HERSELF!
The film is beautiful but very sanitized of any real faith elements. Make is look like Mother Cabrini did it all herself without any help form God. You never see her praying and you never see one scene with the mass. I was very disappointed. I give the film 5 out 5 stars for artistry and 2 out of 5 stars for showing spirituality. What a missed opportunity.
They feature the priest as a wimpy man. Historically accurate? Believable as we’ve seen today in the church, absolutely. Also, don’t show Mother Cabrini in prayer. Other than that The movie is absolutely amazing!
I saw the movie and they toned down the Catholic part. The real Mother Cabrini was devoted to the sacred heart and this made it into a feminist movie. I’m sure the real mother Cabrini didn’t go around yelling at men. I guess they were trying to sell this to a secular wile secular crowd. I think it does disservice to the first American saint .
i wasn't so much worried about the feisty nature of Mother Cabrini. (My mother was part Italian and she was always yelling at men). What concerns and disappoints me is the absence of God and prayer in the film. By film's end there has been no mention of God's hand in the whole turn of events.
Cabrini kept with orders of her superiors most of the time but we see sometimes she moves out of that and operates on her own. She did have respect and beg the Pope at times and he listened a few times, however, he thought was against his better judgement. She had many set backs due to not listening to others at times but at all times satan always has his people in place if you are a true believer and trying to do His will.
CABRINI is certainly a powerful movie, however it was centered on the idea of Feminism, I do not remember any prayer or thanking GOD in this movie, everything was accomplished through cleverness, hard work, and persevering through all obstacles, God was left out!!!
Liked the movie but did not appreciate the lack of respect for the clergy!! As a staunch Traditional Catholic man I love, respect and REVERE my holy priests!!! This movie made sure to portray our priests as irrelevant and not necessary!! Unfortunate to see mother Cabrini without a confessor!! Also did not appreciate her giving the gun back to the kid instead of bringing him to a priest!!! Movie did not exalt the Catholic Church!
Thank you! You said exactly the truth! I feel they portrayed our priests negatively, and it made me very sad.. I feel the main character was demonstrated as being a bit too prideful, not sure if her character was very accurate..
Yes, i noticed the first time we see the inside of a church in the film is when the Archbishop is standing in front of the crucifix and tabernacle shouting at Cabrini for being disobedient. That was no accident, it was very carefully crafted to portray the Catholic clergy in authority as judgmental, angry, ineffectual and pretty much corrupt. I was grateful that they had the grace to portray the Pope as a more reasonable and kindly man.
A devout Italian nun ardentilly serving God by pilgriming to New York and refusing to sit quietly by and let her anointing and vocation be dismissed and obstructed by foolish men has no relation to the feminist movement or women's liberation.
I love your passionate comment! I don't think we can sidestep the power imbalance between Cabrini and the men in authority in this era, as depicted in the film. That power imbalance is at the heart of feminist theory. It's not necessarily anti Catholic.
Unfortunately I think this movie is insulting to us traditional Catholics. It has a woman feminist propaganda twist instead of focusing on her catholic life. If your going to make a movie about a saint then it has to be catholic , you cant be afraid of alienating others when it’s about a catholic saint.
Serving the poor and helping people was her religious vocation, though. That’s what a lot of orders do. They just aren’t generally as widely prolific or as well-known. Someone should make a movie instead about nuns who never leave their cloisters, or live in silence instead? About their daily prayer cycle? How is that any more “Catholic” than what Cabrini did? How would *portraying* that be any more “Catholic” than portraying what Cabrini accomplished and what she had to contend with in order to do so? This was clearly a religious calling for her, so how much more “Catholic” can you get? I think the fact that she was canonized says quite clearly that the Pope obviously agreed. And how would that make a more interesting movie that a lot of people would want to see? The reality is it’s freaking expensive to make a film, and there needs to be a reasonable expectation that enough people will want to pay to see it in order for it to make any sense to make it in the first place. Having just heard of this remarkable woman for the first time, I’m absolutely blown away with what I have learned about her with a quick Google search. What an incredible person, and all the more so precisely *because* she was both female and a nun in very difficult times! I *really* look forward to this movie.
I don’t understand serving others is something about “liberals and feminism”! I am a traditional catholic and also a special educator! Am I a liberal feminist?
Great cinematography no doubts!! But we Catholics missed an opportunity to see priests confess!! Mother Cabrini must and had to have a confessor!! The movie made the priest like a good for nothing idiot!! Even from the initial appearance of the priest the movie made sure we sideline the priest!! As a traditional Catholic I understand the importance of the priesthood in our religion!!
The movie did not exalt the Catholic faith nor the priesthood!! They made father morrell look like a complete idiot. Good movie though. Not too catholic
I am sure Mother Cabrini was a saint, but....this is the second Angel studios movie that really is borderline Hollyweird. Cabrini comes across as a zero spriritual, zero catholic, 100% feminist social justice warrior. Sad to see that Angel has gone the way of hollyweird, never again to pay for a movie ticket for them. Compromise and go the way of hollyweird. Long, and really devoid of giving God and His church their due.
I dont mean to be disrespectful but someone please answer this question to help me UNDERSTAND? When I google Cabrini it shows how even though there was community in this socialism "helping the poor" building complex, there was high crime, murder and rape which is typical when a handout or helping the poor becomes permanent, instead of structured in a way to be just a platform to stand on your own. Hence, it seems Cabrini was not a hero but tried to play GOD in making permanent homes for people but it created a MESS. Why is she glorified when the properties have since been demolished and many deaths, rapes, people-remaining-oppressed by her getting INVOLVED and it should have been structured differently as a temporary place or just not get involved at all. Help me understand why she is a hero? As I read, it was bulldozed and a failure?? I also came across this article online: I do not know if the story is apocryphal, but it is said that, whenever a company who had done work on one of Mother Cabrini’s many institutions sent her a bill for their services, she would send the bill back, unpaid, with the hand-written note, “Thank you for your generous contribution to God’s work!” She was never called on it! This is NOT God's way. God's way is to be righteous in all things, including finances. God will provide if an endeavor or mission is truly anointed by God in the name/Spirit of Jesus. If donations dont come through, then NOT anointed by the Lord God. We need to be careful to not bulldoze through missions in the name of God. God through Jesus Christ our Lord, must be Glorified at all times- even if our flesh desires something to happen, we cannot decide to default on a financial obligation.
It was certainly not her fault that neighborhoods and developments like Cabrini-Green went downhill and became overridden by crime. That unfortunately often happens in poor communities, and projects like that have failed all over the country. At the time they were built, they were widely thought to be the epitome of the best way to serve a downtrodden population, to permanently house as many people as possible. These places were shining beacons of hope and goodwill. It was not known at the time the influence that building style has on people, however. We now know, in no small part thanks to what happened at Cabrini-Green, that such highrises with double-loaded corridors and long stairways actually foster drug use and crime, and do not engender any sense of pride in their home in the residents. Low income housing is now built in very different styles that are much safer, and create far more vibrant communities. The details of this are beyond the scope of this post, but suffice it to say that each generation learns from the ones before - and *many* very important lessons were learned precisely from the spectacular failure of Cabrini-Green in particular. She didn’t even have anything to do with those infamous projects; they were just named after her and the developments that had been on the site before. Why would you say that temporary housing rather than permanent would have been a better goal, though? That makes no sense.

Sorry but this movie left out the Catholic spiritual of her faith. Lack of faith and prayer in this movie.
Election year! What incidious timing. This is a great example of a false equivalence though. Sinister like the movie "Cider House Rules".
Looking forward to this movie. It's too bad that a right-wing group had to make it
😂😂😂
Feminist right wing group😂
@@rastaisfuture8630 are you saying that you don't feel this group that produce this is far right?
Pure Propaganda Rubbish
