Those “They have a pill for that” shots were hilarious.
I loved when Alan rants in court, he talks without inhaling air.
Labeling it as "Rant" is subversive. He has made many cogent and articulate points.
@@god5535 Just as you have. Good job. We made the same point.
Lol he might actually be inhaling and exhaling while he talks. As long as you dont stop talking you can keep it going for a bit but not forever.
"I should sue you right now."
"You want to sue me? Please do, because truth is a complete defense."
Sadly, truth hasn't been fashionable since ... well ... ever.
@@josephmanno4514 legally speaking truth is a complete defense in a lawsuit for defamation ;)
What is interesting is that if they do sue him, he could request discovery for the very things they're saying he does not have cause of action to request now.
@@danburgsIt is why the guilty work tirelessly to obscure the truth.
But anybody who witnesses it can easily see the lies they try to stack in front of it.
Like a freight train plowing through endless rows of styrofoam.
More people would actually want to do jury duty if this was what really happens in a court room.
Thats the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth
What no facts just heresay. I thought it did
They would be recomanded to bring popcorn
it does i was in court for a day questioning a lawyer he tried to charge me for a phone contract when he didnt read the contract to me i could have done 2 days but the judge stopped it at 1 day so 6.5 hours with questions and debate ended being fun .in the end i won !!
This is why lawyers or law students can't be part of the jury.
"Perhaps you have a pill she could take"
"They've got a pill for that too."
Those are the best lines of the whole clip
Love it! Love it! Love it! Whenever Alan goes "on and on and on and on" during one of his rants and then he stops... pauses... and then starts back in a calm, heartfelt, almost gentle tone and demeanor.
It is Absolutely Incredible!!
When they picked James Spader to play Allan Shore, they've couldn't anyone better to play his part.
James Spader is one of my most favorite actors of all time. I also like him on the Black List..... he is just such an awesome actor.
Both James Spader and William Shatner played off of each other awesomely.... I miss that show.....Boston Legal forever.
I loved him on this show. And when he went on the office I personally thought it was amazing . Even tho everyone seemed to dislike the character.
Judge Peyton was an extremely underrated judge on Boston Legal. She was always level headed, had a strict conscience, displayed a solid control over the court room, but still let the C,P,&S lawyers have their time to show what they had. Great side character.
Pretty much the only recurring judge that wasn't a cartoon character played for laughs
“Perhaps you have a pull she could take”
Love it
"I don't swallow, I just chew and spit it out" I actually wet myself on that... 😅🤣😅🤣
They've got a pill for that too.
Deadpool approves of Ultron!
"I've never said this, but don't swallow!"
Alan's "Perhaps you have a pill she could take.." was so genius and hilarious a response it got me hollering 😂😂😂
This show, and Alan Shore in particular, dropped so many real world Truth Bombs, I'm shocked the series was allowed to continue. Thanks to this show, and Boston Legal, all notion that our justice system is actually just, honest, and fair is now gone from my mind. I know better. Our adversarial justice system is all about the prosecutor and defense both trying to lie when it helps their agenda, and trying to obscure the truth when it helps their agenda. Truth is not what they seek. That fundamentally breaks our system of "justice" and I don't know how to fix that.
This is one of my favourite shows. BUT, it's important to note - particularly in this scene; though SOME of it is absolutely correct (i.e. corruption of pharma), some of it is definitely wrong. RLS (restless leg syndrome) IS a thing. Social Phobias IS a thing (though, honestly, sometimes a little too readily diagnosed to be fair, doesn't change it exists).
There's several others, but the point is, he gets a few things objectively wrong here. It's weirdly one of Alan's weakest scenes because if you rewatch it - you'll notice he literally provides zero evidence, it's ALL speculation and assumptions; he counts on stereotypes, conspiracies and emotions to win his case (which, granted, a good move if you lack evidence).
That and you and I should both remember, it's a tv show - and they blow a LOT of things out of proportion, good and bad =P
Only in America, I see ads like "ask your doctor if this pill is right for you?"
It's funny... Shouldn't it be my doctor's responsibility to know what the right pill is for me.
It's not only in America. The other country where ads for pharmaceuticals are on TV is New Zealand. Everywhere else around the world it is not permitted.
Australia does not allow pharma advertising on TV .. we also don't have an endemic option crisis as only a qualified aenesthetist can administer Fentanyl in a hospital surgery suit. Oz is not trouble free but we aren't swimming in drugs.
No you have to pay to see your doctor, which he makes money from. Then he recommends a drug they paid him to promote. So Dr's make money off stupid/gullible people. And the pharmaceutical companies make money off them too.
In india they pay doctors to write their brand medicines insted of generic medication.
Germany has commercials for medicine too, but I think it is only for stuff you can buy without prescription. And usually just for, well, "regular stuff", like headaches etc.
Can't believe the judge let that "Are you crazy?" comment slip by. Surely that's contempt of court...
She put him in his place nicely with her reply.
“What would be crazy is if I gave you and your industry the benefit of the doubt.”
No cuz a judge would never be so stupid as to allow this case. There was no evidence and it was a baseless rant that went all over the place
@@strateeg32 how's any of that baseless? Lack of factual evidence does not mean baseless.
@@mullz.m that is exactly what baseless means
@@strateeg32
There's levels between baseless and factual. It ain't a binary world out there imo.
He's good in Blacklist but this is off the charts.
Pharma Rep: you bit off more than you can chew this time
Alan Shore: oh I don’t swallow, I just chew up and spit out.
Probably one of the most epic mix drop moments on television. Now if only we had lawyers in RL with the balls and skill do something like this in real life
if only if only...
"i can see your good at this.." is a line I use on my uni students when i have to ban their phone in class....there looks are priceless!
-are you crazy?
-perhaps you have a pill she could take
aahahahahaah
Magic 😅
"You must take them."
The judge should have held him in contempt for asking her if she was crazy.
This should be broadcasted to every American.

MY God. Someone needs to do this in real court.
If this has been up for 10 years, where are all the comments?
"Oh I don't swallow, I just chew up and spit out"
Alan Shore really tends more not to compromise the harder and bigger his enemy is.
I really loved that show. Another one I loved was Becker.
A message from the past that is very relevant today
They've got a pill for that too. I love it !
I really enjoyed this.
I worked in pharma advertising for about ten years...until I couldn't take it anymore.
Really? Is this a realistic critique?
@@androkguz This is a tv show, reality has nothing to do with it.
imo
@@ZOOTSUITBEATNICK1 Oh yeah, I kind of agree. But I was just curious since I don't live in the US or even the first world and I have never worked in pharma if what they are saying here rings a bell. Are pharma companies in the US really just making stuff up and having the congress on their grip? In your opinion, of course
@@androkguz imo
To a certain degree, yeah, it's true.

My favorite attorney, and I've had a bunch in my years being prosecuted
I was a sad puppy when they took this show off the air. I wanted to sue them to put it back on.
Alan Shore was one of my heroes.
Oh, I don't swallow. I just chew-up and spit out! BOOOOM!
The very best moment of Alan Shore in hole Boston Legal is in this episode previous when they settle the trial
Great scene. Although restless leg isn't fictional. I wish it were. I get it from time to time. It sucks.
RLS is real, I have it, unlike how he says in some of his scenes it isn't just your legs moving in your sleep, it can be maddening. One time I beat my legs senseless as a kid while traveling in the car because I felt the need to move them but couldn't, but hitting them helped for a moment or so, so I just kept hitting them. Although medication in my experience isn't required, doing exercises that focus on the legs works, and it's far better to exercise than take medication to achieve the same result.
I understand what your purpose is. So, I will be the one to say it, that no other need try:
Alan Shore used it to prove a point, as it is relatively well-known, but not as well-understood as it deserves.
That being said, I do hope that you are doing better than you had been.
i realy miss this
Never figured out , why the network killed this show!!
@Boe Dillard Do you have proof of this other than your tin foil hat?
ABC didn’t want them after four seasons, and the shows creators had to fight for the thirteen episodes of season five.
ABC is owned by Disney, and it might have been Bob Iger (the CEO at the time) didn’t want mature content like Boston Legal connected with their brand.
@@toriboy25 They changed the day and time the show was on several times. That's called "burying" a show. If viewers don't know when a show is on they can't watch it. So the ratings drop and the execs can pull the show.
So yeah there's your proof.
I think clips like this demonstrate quite clearly why the network killed the show.
It was an amazing platform for Kelley to expose the injustices and corruption at play in corporate America. No wonder it was silenced.
Drugs should be advertised to doctors, not patients.
What is the name of this series
I love how he uses opposing counsel's last lines as the first line for his next argument. Now that's a pick up.
And the sarcasm at the end, unmatched.
This was almost surreal 10 years ago. Not so much now, not at all.
James Spader, best actor
An actually this is **true for today** strong scene an facts!!
people dont understand how real and destructive this is on modern society
Best show ever on network TV
"Are you crazy?"
"Perhaps you have a pill she could take"
😀😂
I'm sorry to have to say it but he is right in what he said.
Don't be sorry. He is absolutely correct.
I mean I hate American big pharma as much as anybody. But as someone who does have general anxiety disorder and depression I can tell you it's not made up. I went for years without medication because I held the exact same idea that I didn't need to be fixed that I didn't need to become reliant on medication but I realized that I'm as reliant on this medication as someone else is reliant on the chemicals that are naturally produced in their body. people need to stop making the problem people with mental disorders they need to start making the prices and over advertising of these products the problem. Mental illness is highly vilified in America and around the world still, so calling mental illness fake or certain disorders phony or concocted is just regressive and very harmful to a lot of people. Yes I agree with his moral point but I feel like he should be going about a different way while a 3-year-old should not be on antidepressants that is an oversimplification being that some children benefit from medication at a young age. We can't fix everything with medicine the problem with big pharma is they do feel like they can throw a pill at everything but that doesn't make mental illness or medication bogus or fake it just means that it needs to be more regulated and grouped with therapy and regulated by the government instead of private medical foundations.
Agree 1000%, I am reliant on my medication as well. It saved my life, but there’s always bad apples in everything and diagnosing someone with mental illness is taken very lightly. It’s overlooked by many, even the professionals in the field.
What playground court house is this? This isn't a courtroom argument this is a playground fight.
I wish everyone would watch this during this pandemic.
Preach, Alan!
Yes the best of Allen shaw
Still relevant!!!
As someone with anxiety, general anxiety disorder is *not* made up.
I know this is a TV show but this dual argument is right on and in all seriousness fact. Attorney Shore is "f'ing" right. Pharmaceutical companies are every it that. Hell, they practically own Washington politicians.
They pay more in lobbying politicians than the NRA, who has a choke hold over Washington.
Look up The Starfield Report in the July 2000 issue of JAMA.
Selling snake oil is a time honored tradition here in the good old USA.
That’s cheered me up today ending brilliant will u shut up haha
Most judges would not allow this. You are supposed to argue to the judge not opposing counsel but it is fun.
Also I'm pretty sure most judges wouldn't let you say "Are you crazy?" to their face.
Yes they frown on that sort of thing😂
"Get them when they're young enough and you have a customer for life"
I can see you’re good at this
They were so ahead of the time. Every word is the truth.

This entire tirade also applies to the transgender puberty blocker movement.
I grieved when they cancelled Boston legal. Can David E. Kelly bring it back please
Anyone help me with the title of this Serie 🙏
Boston legal
The fact that he's referring to is the "second" pandemic happening. It should be the primary pandemic, USA literally created the opioid pandemic.
"Ziiing..i can see you're good at this"..😆😆
In my books “he is the goat” 🙌🏽😂
Btw how long was this series cause as much as i love the actor i didnt know they put him in a great role before the blacklist
It ran five seasons, and if I recall correctly, the final season had a reduced episode count.
@@BrianOsler thank you
@@blakeblade2012 no problem. It was a great show. If you haven’t, you should check it out.
I love the show, but yeah never happen in reality.
He has turned up in court with only emotional arguments and nothing substantive. He would be told to go away and come back with something actionable.
I watch this after watching red redington
Very relevant at this time
It would be great if they banned Pharma commercials.
The truth is being told by writers from a TV show. Everything he said is true. Think about it! How did humans last this long without the drug companies. They have our country hooked on pills that often do nothing other than make them money. This subject makes me so mad 😡 and depressed 😔 Oh don’t
tell me, they have a pill for that too.
They did the same thing with big tobacco and the NRA. Brilliant writing.
I looked it up.....he does have proximate cause, the fact that these drugs can be acquired without a prescription and then used together in unexpected ways can cause health conditions
“Are you crazy??”
“Perhaps you have a pill she could take?”
🤭
They have a pill for that too...
But my leg won't stop shaking and i can't sleep ... I wonder if there's a pill for that
Restless leg syndrome is real. So is dry eye. Good rant, bad medicine.
I have a problem with the term generalized anxiety because it is not getting to the root of the problem only masking. If the anxiety is caused by depression, then they need something for depression which is not always but sometimes is depression medication.
As if a lawyer would be this eloquent against the money and power.
You commenting here in 2022.......................... They got a pill for that too.
there is a good reason why in my country the advertising of prescription pills is forbidden. It shouldnt be in the Patients mind what pill eventually could help him before his doctor even had a diagnosis.
He is right.
Alan Shore for president. They can't buy him off.
"Truth is a complete defence"
What? Are you crazy?
Perhaps you have a pill she could take!
Do I look like an idiot?
They have a pill for that too!

I have huge social phobia. Nothing bs about that. But I’m autistic soooo not shocking. But I’m still not dumb enough to take a pill for it 😇
I’ll deal
Big law firms should hire James Spader even if he doesn't have a law degree.
