I'm newly diagnosed, and I cannot tell you how much the few videos of yours that I have watched have helped me understand my ADHD. I have watched *lots* of other videos and read voraciously, but so far, your videos have helped me to understand what my brain is up to the most.
Here's a tip for ADD people: always put 10% of any money you receive on a different savings account. Make sure it's not too easy to reach. And put an additional 10% of your income into something a little less 'liquid' like gold, stocks or cryptocurrencies. You can convert it back to cash if you really need to, and it will force you to save money. Before you know it, you've saved quite a bit. Only if you can afford it, of course. It could be 5% for you.
Dear Jesse, I've been diagnosed very late at 43 last summer. All my life finally start to make sense. I've somehow managed to get a kind of life that suits my brain and my passion, with lots of sacrifices of course. I'm seriously thinking to start to tell my story on my YT channel. Don't know where to start tough I'm still discovering a lot about thi neurodivergency. This conversation is particularly touching me because since when I was young I didn't fit in this office carreer that everybody is expecting me to do in order to build a steady life and family (which I don't have). I always followed my gut against everybody and I didn't know where I found the strenght. Now I know. I've always been a creative and artistic person unable to do math, engineering, accounting, and all the things tha makes you reach. And felt wrong because of it, pretty my whole life. Till now. I'm reading your book. Well... sorry for this long comment
I think numbers aren't as permanent for people with ADHD. My husband seems to feel that as long as he has a good enough reason the money isn't really spent. He spent almost $20 the other day for gourmet donuts because there were 4 of us and 4 in the box, the price wasn't relevant. Or he'll get $50 as a gift, spend it because he has it then the next day spend it again because he has it, even if it's pointed out it's already gone. He's actually said it doesn't count. I explained to him once how income-expenses=net and he told me he didn't agree. Really? 3-2=1 and you don't agree? He does the same with calories. I remember him being absolutely furious that he'd gained weight after going on a diet. I reminded him about everything he'd eaten and he pointed out how none of them counted because he'd had good reasons. His boss had treated for lunch and he had to have some. It was someone's birthday so he had to have cake. Then he needed a second piece to show how good it was. Then the cookies at his mom's place because she expected him to steal cookies. How do you argue with something like that?
I’m the complete opposite as my parents I guess because I grew up watching my grandmother live practically poor just to afford to live in a really good neighborhood. We grew up with nothing and subconsciously. I guess that’s stuck in my head, and now I am a hoarder I said I refuse to spend it by whatever we need but I save and save and save and yet I have no idea what I’m saving for it if you asked me today hey Lauren, what are you gonna buy with your money I would tell you I have no idea I’m hoping to buy a house one day, but my kids don’t want to leave at least not right now is the craziest feeling in the world
Nice channel. I really like it. But the thing is.. I am struggling to listen. Half an hour for a video.. Do you think it's ADHD friendly? Or is it just my problem? 🙄 Maybe I have to wait until my diagnosis and get my medicine. It's really hard to get an appointment.
I always listen while doing something else that's boring, like tidying the kitchen or other menial task that I either do with music on or with a podcast on. Otherwise I struggle too, even when it's interesting, to only focus on the podcast.
This was a great video, as I am just realizing that I am ADHD, and it’s become more pronounced now at the age of 15. I would love to know if there’s anyway I can get in touch with your cohost, because I would love some of her financial counseling or guidance. And I have to tell you all of this information is really helping me because I also was an accountant/manager for many years and I can see why that now as my ADHD has become more pronounced this is definitely not gonna be a good fit, and I am also taking that break from the office as she did to see and pursue another career which I already have. If you see in my profile, I created some business it did quite well, but the economy is not set up for it anymore right now unless you have a huge following, I would love some financial advice. If you could please share this comment with her or give me a link where I can reach her that would be great. Thank you so much and I will continue to watch like share and subscribe.
Awesome chat :) If you're interested in fraud, you should look into the cryptocurrency community. It's pretty much just one big pyramid of ponzi schemes. The "Crypto Critics Corner" podcast and Coffeezilla here on UA-cam both cover the topic and are quite entertaining.
Thank you. You are pretty much the only person I have seen on You Tube comments that does not try to influence others to get involved. Heck I barely understand coins and currency & really getting bolled over by digital payment and forced digital compliance. To me it's not real. I need 2/3 dimensional currency. Glad I don't have much longer (82 now)on this earth. Too confusing.

Big words also make me anxious, legalese, financial advice is this

I love this channel. Learned a lot from so many people you’ve chatted with.

Object permanence.
Or sorry dyscalclia maybe? Idk I'm confused.
I practice untouchability on Money or it does on me.. I am not sure. We hate each other.
Thanks for the video! Pretty useful information.
I'm an adult and getting an assessment this week aaaaahhhh
Hope you get the answers you need! 🙏
Very important topic. Thank you

I have not watched any of this yet but wanted to plug “DAS Budget” as an outstanding budgeting tool

Also it can be helpful to speed up the video. At 1.5 speed you can get through videos quicker.
Thanks for this comment ✨️
I love this podcast/conversation format. It's very engaging!
