Media and Journalism - Full Debate

Raaye Saazi conducted the fourth public debate at Alhamra Art Center Lahore on 7th March, 2024. The motion read, “The Media has failed to fulfill its responsibility in Pakistan”.
The proposition team was comprised of Ms. Khadija Siddiqi, a barrister and human rights activist; and Mr. Mansoor Ali Khan, renowned journalist and political commentator. The team opposing the motion comprised of Mr. Ovais Mangalwala, TV presenter and filmmaker; and Mr. Mazhar Abbas, veteran journalist, columnist, and analyst. The event drew diverse demographics as students, young journalists, and people from multiple walks of life were seen in attendance.
Raaye Saazi: Debating for the Future is a peacebuilding initiative, aiming to discourage the prevalent intolerance in Pakistan by making the culture of debate common in the public sphere. The project hopes to serve as a public avenue for building an alternative and people-centric narrative over issues of national importance.

I was there in Al Hamra during this debate. It was good debate in Pakistani context but not much excellent. There should have been substance, numbers, evidences in debate but we don't see such thing here
