I have to agree with the rest of the comments. A complete novice to laser engraving and most of the tutorials assume that you are an expert with computers and I was getting swamped. This is exactly what I need and far superior to anything else I have watched, thank you.

Hands down the best 101 video that I've seen! Including the videos from the "company". I appreciate all of the people out there making videos to help us out, however this one really should be at the top for those of us who are beginning. I learned more during this video than I did in hours of watching other videos.

Now with you in my corner I just might be able to figure this out after all. Thank you for taking the time to put together a complete library of videos on how to use this software . I’ve watched nearly a dozen of your videos over the last few days, since I received my xTool D1. I can’t believe the time and patience you’ve put into doing all of your tutorials. I am absolutely amazed and very very greatful of everything you’ve put together in your store and forum. I did my very first laser burn last night for my fiancé of the 3 cats for Mother’s Day and she absolutely loved it. Can’t thank you enough Rich. Very appreciated.

Thanks for putting a great 'baby steps' guide to Lightburn for beginners! I notice a lot of intuitive/functional similarities between Lightburn and SketchUp. I'm hoping it shortens the learning curve to get up to speed with a new software/platform. Your detailed instruction is sure to be part of that experience!

I’ve had my laser for two years and I immediately paid for light burn because everyone said it was the best. But I’ve been so frustrated with different things for instance I would bring an image in trace it to see if the line at the bottom was going to burn into the image, then go into gimp to crop it then export back to light burn. All I’m saying is I’ve learned more in 30 minutes than I did in two years. I’ve subscribed to the channel and will watching more videos and this one over again

This video is amazing, I am so glad I found it on UA-cam, I've had my laser for almost a year and have learned more watching these videos than I have in almost a year of watching others. Thank you.
Quick question on the line and fill selection is there any way to keep the line after fill setting to something slower at all times, mine defaults to 6000 mm everytime, I ask this knowing that I can change it from 6000 mm to what I want, but sometimes I forget to and after a a fine fill it goes wild and jostles the whole laser. Thanks again.

Thank you Rick! I really appreciate the comments! ✔ To your question... Yes Sir, you can. Draw a square, and then on the Cuts / Layers tab, double click the layer to bring up the cut settings editor. Enter the default speed and power that you always want to start at, and then at the bottom of the window, click the box that says, Make Default for All. Hope that helps you!

Great video Rich, I look forward to checking out the rest of your series! Maybe just to add some detail to the selection tool part of your vid: By dragging starting from the top left, it will only select any shape that is completely within the selection box. By dragging starting from the bottom right, any object TOUCHING the selection box will be selected. This is very helpful when your workspace gets a bit cluttered. Hope this helps!

Thanks Rich for the video. I have used Sketchup before and some of the tools are like the ones in Sketchup. I have been looking at all kinds of lightburn videos and by far yours and superior. I really enjoy how you make it simple and easy to understand. This OG(74) really appreciates it. Looking forward to viewing more.

Bought another laser some time ago. a k40 with a mini gerbil board and light burn. I once had a trial version but I didn't like it because I didn't understood it. Your videos bring light into the darkness. You are my favorite laser guru.😀

Thanks for the great video, I learned a few things that I was doing the hard way. I didn't even notice the offset button! I've been double drawing and checking measurements. Dang that takes alot of time. The whitespace trick is definitely something I'm going to look into in the morning too!

I'm a scrollsaw wood crafter, and last year I strayed onto the dark side and bought a laserpecker as I often get asked if I can engrave some of my work, I went for it mainly because I wouldn't need to learn to computer 🤣
I've just ordered an atomstack x7pro, and I'm now feeling less alarmed about being able to use it when it arrives as I can see similarities between lightburn and inkscape which I have bumbled around over the years.
Expect I'll be checking back in a lot when it arrives, thanks 😊

First off, great tutorial video! The sales person I spoke to seemed to think I needed Corel for the graphics side and light burn to control the laser functions, so I bought both programs. Had I caught your video 24 hours ago I could have saved $$$. Thanks again for the video!

Finally someone who knows the tools for this program. I've been getting frustrated watching others hack their way through a simple project with 50 steps that I know in the back of my mind that there has to be a much shorter route.
