  • Eric LeGrand is a source of inspiration, hope and perseverance for so many. A standout high school football player from Avenel, New Jersey, LeGrand went on to play for Rutgers University, and by his sophomore year, he led the team with 13 tackles on kickoff coverage and recorded a tackle-for-loss in seven games. However, on October 16, 2010 during Eric’s junior year, he suffered a severe spinal cord injury playing against the revered Army football team at MetLife Stadium, leaving him paralyzed. Although experiencing many setbacks and hardships since this unforeseen accident, he has gained a tremendous amount of courage, faith and strength throughout his rehabilitation that has captured the nation.

    Wow...he said when he gets out of that chair, he's going to go back out on that field and lay down right where he got hurt. Then, he's going to get up and walk off the field, so he can say that he finished that play. Wow...just wow. So, inspirational.

    Our whole family was at that game! It was very hard to see Eric not getting up on the field! It was so quiet as everyone on both teams kneeled & prayed! The whole crowd was praying & very quiet too! We bELieve he will finish that play, & walk again one day! Such an inspiration to people of all ages! God definitely has a plan for him! He has such strong family/friends/teammates/strangers rooting him on to victory over this awful accident! He is such a hard worker in PT/OT at Kessler Institute! God bless all who work with him, & help raise money for spinal cord injuries! He always has the best smile! If he can move on with his life, we cannot let a bad day/week/month/year hold us back! His wheelchair does not stop him from doing things he knows are important! BRAVO to Eric, Karen, & his whole family! I will never forget that day, or the day we finally got to meet them in person! What an honor (in Edison, NJ) that was for us! He gave me several bELieve bracelets & I still wear it proudly every day until he walks again! Many prayers for his success & full recovery! I was thrilled to get a photo with him & his Mom that day! Read the two books he wrote also & you will understand what an honest & special he is & always will be! God bless you, Eric! ❤️👍🙏🎁🎉👏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Eric LeGrand just received the Warrior Award from the WWE during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Me. LeGrand should be an inspiration for us all. I believe that he will walk again, either leading the Rutgers football team of the time or walking around with WWE superstars at a Wrestle Mania. With his hope, strength, determination, will, faith, and sure power he will walk again

    He has a great attitude, but you don’t tackle that way unless you don’t care about the risk of winding up a quadriplegic. He said in an interview he tried for a shoulder tackle, but somebody else bumped the player into his head, but that simply not the case when you look at the video. He flew into the runner, full-blast, head first, “spearing” him and breaking his neck.
    I hope advancements in stem cell therapy can help people like him make a full recovery.

    I was at this game with my father. Won the tickets from a middle school raffle. There was 30 plus kids from my school there, that Monday at school we were all brought into the library and asked if we wanted to talk about what happened. When he was being carted off the field I said to my dad why isn’t he waving to us. The whole stadium was silent. One of the worst things I’ve seen live.

      Blood_Nation101 But you have to realize. It was Legrands fault for leading with his head. The returner should feel bad but he needs to know that 0% of that was his fault. Don't lead with your head.

    • @gretchenortner
      @gretchenortner 6 років тому +2

      Kyle Godfrey I just saw an interview with Eric and he said "I thought I was going to use my shoulder, but my teammate actually tripped the guy up before I got there. And as his body twirled around it changed the angle of the tackle. I didn't know that I had put my head down. And his shoulder blade went right into the crown of my head and that's what caused my accident."
      He must've thought that when he saw the opposing player get tripped up, he didn't need to tackle him anymore, so on instinct, he put his head down, but the opposing player was falling right at him, so it was too late.

      The replay shows both players aimed hard for one another. Erics helmet made contact with the oncoming player very hard. It looked like shoulder or arm and hip. There was no give on the hit. 2 200 plus bodies smashing together. God Bless E.L. BELIEVE
