I just like games dude, also I think talking about something I've played for years is more interesting than talking about something I just played for the first time. If it can keep me engaged that long, it must be doing something right!

Truthfully, I love this game. I have 1000+ hours and still want to play! That said, i thought the same thing when I saw this video.
10:00 because of the way loaders damage scales with speed, it is 100% possible to reach a point where you can one-hit-kill literally any enemy in the game, but unless you get extremely lucky it usually comes at the cost of being the glassiest of cannons.
I’ve been trying to test this in game but I can’t get anything conclusive. Do you know if loader’s damage benefits from hunter’s harpoon? Like, if you kill one enemy by punching through them and hit a second, does that second enemy get hit harder because of the extra speed the harpoon gives? Sorry if this is too specific but I’ve asked everyone I can find who knows anything about loader.
@@mabns hunters harpoon will increase that damage but only marginally if you’re going for real damage on loader the most important items are bands, crowbars, watches, and focus crystals

From what I know, gearbox is currently focused on completely rebuilding the console ports so that future expansions can be rolled out across all platforms. They have been taking a long time, and are clearly not rushing, but I’m hopeful for ror2 and it’s future

There is a plot, but it's not much beyond 'shoot bugs is fun'. The crew of 2 is there to rescue the crew of 1. The natives are not too keen on that, and want to take the ship for themselves. Some intrigue within the natives happened before 1 landed, the captain from 2 thinks it's more 'rescue' then rescue so more guns, but that's about it.
There's been multiple examples of people crunching the numbers, but it comes down to the 5 minute guideline is only really good for the lower difficulties. It doesn't allow the player to scale enough to overcome the challenges that are introduced with the higher difficulties. As soon as a player goes into the Eclipse levels, they want to do more looting.
There is actually a lot to it if you read in depth. The story of Providence and Mithrix is very important to the world, and there's several logs entailing the darker parts of the game. There's a lot more to the lore than what's surface level.
@@Jorclai TBH that's pretty much summed up in the 'intrigue with the natives' and is lore more then story, and isn't the plot of Risk of Rain 2.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy how they share the universe of Risk of Rain, with the whole bits and pieces like Soulslike games without having to be a loot goblin to get the lore. But it's not the plot of Risk of Rain 2. The plot is botched rescue attempt, so get back to the ship.
Risk of Rain 2 is one of the best most fun games I've ever played!

eh I would still consider it a roguelike and not a looter shooter. a looter shooter is just the diablo exp and loot grind but in a FPS. You don't have permadeath and you constantly replace your gear. Besides the levels not being randomly generated, it has everything in common with a roguelike. you don't get new weapons, you get randomly generated items that are just some form of stat buff, and theres permadeath. The original ROR was one of the games that helped popularize the roguelike boom that binding of isaac started.
I know that it does have more in common with roguelikes but I, with very few exceptions, I get bored of those kinds of games really quickly because of the procedurally generated levels. RoR2 does things differently enough to keep me from bouncing off the way I do with Isaac or Gungeon.

wungus is a straight downgrade for me i only play engi with stationary turrets lol, void crit is an absolute avoid unless you just loop until you die but if i see a benthic i always pick it up cause i always full loot a stage and dont loop so ill never be slow but i will be OP (when i fully loot i try to get 1-2 items per 1min lol)

This video was already longer than I wanted it to be lmao. I find that I don’t really play with them on outside of command/sacrifice cheese runs or eclipse attempts. Kinda like Halo skulls, fun ideas but I really just enjoy the vanilla gameplay and don’t feel the need to mess with it.

few things, first of all tho, good video
you showed and named quite a few items in the items section, even tho actually talking about items is good you either didnt explain the items you talked about good enough/didnt show the description enough, and adding to that, i think you gave too many item examples, just one or 2 would have been enough.
you also went way more in depth with just one of the DLC survivors than you did with all the others, as much as i agree/understand i feel like thats out of place in a review like this one

procedural generation of levels doesnt define a rogue-like. The game is a rogue-lite therefore having elements of a rogue-like. The act of being random and having a gameplay loop revolve around 1 life, gaining abilities after runs, and some form of randomly generated factoer classifies it as rogue lite or rogue like, the levels themselves does not dictate this.

I just remember people saying like her shoes are too big and she’s too lanky when compared to the other humanoids.
The community at steam is still pretty tense regarding what gearbox has for RoR2, the next update is still yet to come or if the game is dead.
Yeah who knows what they’re doing over there. I’ll keep playing it until I get bored. Thankfully it’s completely playable offline and I only play multiplayer with friends so if the game dies it’s not a huge deal for me.
If you have enough healing on void fiend you will stay in the first mode.
Risk of rain is one of the few games I will not listen to spotify while I play.

risk of rain 2 is great and i think they should of released another dlc before they started on risk of rain returns. Me and i think quite a few others simply don't care for returns. it will have to be an amazing game for me to actively play it over ror2. I can't see it beating the binding of issac or dead cells etc. They pioneered the genre by making it 3D and i think if they focused on ror2 more they could have a monopoly almost on 3D rogue likes. Why put effort into a saturated market when they already have such a unique and popular game is beyond me. I hope i'm wrong tho
I have never played ror1, but have put something like 700 hours into 2, and im actually pretty interested in returns. Lots of new features and quality of life changes that made 1 seem a little to archaic/barebones/unapproachable. The focus on making multiplayer easier to jump into is already a huge plus.
Content drought and difficulty spike between easy and normal plus high ping to most players deters me from playing. I’m just bad I guess and roguelite looter shooter might not be my thing. Was able to enjoy this a lot more than the first ror though in some ways but original ror feel is mystical. Ror2 maps seem plain.

yes did it and regreted it. after 20 hours, beated the dog shit endboss and never ever want to start this game again. it unfun, clunky movement, boring itemisation and meta driven as hell

Can we please stop pretending that procedurally generated maps are not "hand crafted", each individual element of a procedurally generated map is still hand crafted, its just assembled differently for each run, procedurally generated and randomly generated are two completely different things, imo ror2 would be better and infinitely more replayable if it had procedurally generated maps, procedural generation is the defining feature of the roguelike/roguelite genre, even more so than permadeath, i have a thing for randomization and RNG in video games, which is why i love looters/looter shooters, roguelikes/roguelites, isometric ARPGs and dungeon crawlers or anything with a RNG based loot system, i love not knowing what i will get next and just using what is randomly placed in front of me, anyone can copy and paste a powerful build, but it takes true skill to utilize what is randomly placed in front of you to your best ability, anyone can one shot the final boss with a copy and pasted op build, linearity is the death of gaming
