The Dog House: There's plans to get the tracks off the streets in about a few to several years. It does call for condemning and relocations of some businesses and homes. There are plans to have double tracking completed from east of Gary to Michigan City IN. The second phase should be double tracking from Michigan City IN to South Bend( Michiana Regional Airport).
@@emvvehicles_8 The Metro Blue Line is basically a revival of the Pacific Electric Interurban Line that was discontinued April 9 1961. Now more than 40 years later restored on practically the same alignment and with high tech trolleys unlike the old time Interurbans. History does repeat itself.
@thedoghouse4203: The last day of street running was February 27 2022. East of Gary Metro Station you have the inconvenient bustitution bus transfer to Chesterton where you resume your train journey. That inconvenience will finally end on April 8 next Monday and full train service will resume.
