It makes me wonder if Andy had any say in casting woody as carnage for the end credit scene of venom.. Like did Andy know he was directing the sequel at that point? Would make sense he wanted to work with him again
I really wish writers would stop killing his characters' sons 😢 He's great portraying extreme grief, but I just want him to play a happy father one time 😅
The colonel steals the movie for me. Not just Woody Harrelson's great acting but how they wrote the character. He doesn't hate the apes. He even acknowledges the simian flu is sciences fault for abusing the laws of nature. He's just trying to keep the last of humanity going no matter how horrible the choices are.
They weren’t kidding when he said this was our last stand. If the new film’s trailers were anything to ascertain, Humanity has regressed back to the Stone Age.
The humans in Rise were already in the Stone Age but had inherited technology from their ancestors! Failing to quarantine a scientist that’s coughing up blood, sending mounted officers to beat apes with nightsticks when they should’ve just shot them, fighting the apes on a bridge, where they have the advantage over humans, taking orders from an inexperienced CEO when you’re a police chief, starting a pointless war with apes when humanity is already on the brink of extinction, giving Army commands to insane Woody Harrelson’s and sacrificing their entire army to put down a single mutiny; it’s a miracle that these humans survived this long with their cacophony of terrible ideas and tactics!
Notice Nova lost her speech but she still retained higher brain function how else did she learn/understand sign. Nova's caretaker (dad?) was still able to talk and presumable he was around her when she was sick. So taking this information, it's why when the colonel ops to have ceasar kill him it's bc he realized he still had his higher brain function and he had killed his son in vain. He just couldn't verbally speak.
I think that maybe they were just the last two left from their group. Nova didnt react at all when she saw he was dead but she was very emotional when Luka died. The movie was so well written I doubt they would have written something that made so little sense. Thats just what i took from it.
@@BohoAstronaut you say that but also the whole battle scene looked like something out of GIJOE. It was pretty funny watching them send every last soldier in a big blob straight towards the killzone of a heavily defended helms deep style base. I guess there were ZERO pieces of artillery or missiles left in existence. and zero commanders left with any strategic abilities.
As a young USMC recruit in Parris Island, circa 1985, we learned that as a part of evening prayers and carried it thru the fleet. I believe it was to instill memento mori, an acceptance of death as inevitable and part of life. Not just the enemies, but also our own. 0311 3/6
I like how the ending of the film with Caesar is similar to how the story of Moses ended-the leader leads his people through strife to a promised land of safety but cannot enter said promised land. Something I enjoyed when i saw it which made me enjoy it more
Indeed the huge avalanche being like the red sea coming down on all of Pharaoh's soldiers (enemy army in this case) too. I think it was also a reference to Charlton Heston who played Moses too. (Isn't there a clip of that shown in the first movie with the parting of the Red Sea?)
13:36 he isn’t actually Nova’s father but rather a caretaker who looked after the young girl. The reason Nova didn’t have much a reaction when seeing his dead body was because they never formed a strong bond.
Can i be honest, Nova's actress speaking caught off guard. I don't think I have ever seen her in any other roles besides Nova in war that it surprised me to hear her speak
I dont think that man was meant to be Nova's father. I think the two of them were just the last ones left in their group. If he was her father she would have reacted much more (actually she barely reacted at all). She was very upset when Luka was killed so it makes no sense she would more emotional over that than she was over her father being shot by them right in front of her.
Absolutely fantastic work, excellent analogy of the story line and background of the characters. I just love the research you put into all of your videos and how eloquently you narrate them 🫶
I’ve been checking all week to see if you’ve uploaded, made my day bro 👌 I was just going to bed and now must watch this! Did you see Blink 182? I saw them this week, they were excellent 🎉
As good as the new film looks, it's not gonna be on the level as the Caesar trilogy they just took everybody by surprise with the incredible storytelling, acting and special effects.
It's challenging to get too emotionally invested in a film series when you know where it's going. If they continue beyond the point of the original series of films, maybe there could be something genuinely worth buying into.
I was an 11 year old when I had my tonsils taken out and was stuck in bed with my dads movie's.. every single planet of the apes was watched ten times over 😂
I can't wait to see this movie. However, I've always wondered what the wild apes in Africa and other Eastern countries were doing. Their interaction with other animals that were near the top of the food chain.
Hi Niyat! I’ve been watching your content for a long time and I was wondering if you can cover a movie that is super underrated and not on many people’s radar. This movie is called “Trench 11” (2017). It’s a horror/war movie that takes place in WW1. It’s about a group of Allied soldiers are sent to investigate a secret German bunker and discover the horrors that lay beneath it. Woody Harrelson is like that one glove that fits everybody when it comes to the roles he's in
I love the guy 😂
I'll watch anything he's in. He's so good. His real life story is just as wild
Great analogy 👌

Truly think Andy Serkis should’ve been nominated for his work as Caesar.
Nice pic option, making me want to revisit B5
Should of been nominated back during Lord of The Rings.
I'm gobsmacked that Andy hasn't _won_ an Oscar, Golden Globe, everything! He's a beast of an actor.
They weren’t kidding when he said this was our last stand. If the new film’s trailers were anything to ascertain, Humanity has regressed back to the Stone Age.

Maurice Luca and rocket are real ones 😤💯🔥

I think a cool twist could have been the army that appears at the end take their masks off to reveal apes
Please do all the original movies as well as the TV series, great work on the reboots BTW
Maurice was my absolute favorite character of the trilogy
The fact that the new main chimp isn’t *Cornelius* kinda diminishes my interest
Please do the originals also!!!
Am i the only one who thinks that Matt Reeves used Nazi/ holocaust imagery to showcase the hardship of how the apes were treated by humanity?
The idea a silver back gorilla would be able to sit upon a horse is laughable.
