- The Electro-Harmonix Super Switcher Programmable Effects Hub, as its name implies, offers a powerful solution for players who are tired of “tap dancing” around their pedalboard. In effect, it moves all of your pedals to your pedalboard’s front row while delivering control of them with one button push. The result is that it puts the player back in control of an unruly pedalboard!

It’s also perfect for any guitarist using the “four-cable method” because it makes it easy to properly route effects that should go in front of an amp and those that are best in the effects loop.
When it comes to live performance, the Super Switcher can efficiently organize presets into banks that are easy to recall and match your show’s set list. If you’re playing to a click track and want to have the presets recalled via MIDI programmed to a song, the Super Switcher can handle that, too. It’s also a great way to sync time-based effects to the same master clock.

I'm slowly changing my mind for my next purchase, this just came at the right time with the right price. I really really like the integration of the tap and the two ctrl switches.
1 EHX pedal in the mail and several more to go. This will be greatly needed very soon. The perfect solution to the 2 foot tango
God damn it, I need 2 more jobs to pay for all the new EHX pedals I want, and now you guys make a switcher??
I have seen a lot of videos on loop switchers and I’ve got to say that this one is nicely done.
Finally a looper for me at a good price!
Good presentation. I like the tilit on the first row of switches, it's a nice ergonomic detail ;-)
I got this thing today... for what I need, it is perfect. I have an amp with 3 channels that can be changed by MIDI, 4 pedals in front of preamp and 3 in the effects loop. I need 3 settings for my clean channel, 2 for my rhythm channel, and 2 for my lead channel. So my current setup with this leaves space to add another pedal before the preamp and make another preset down the road. Sounds a lot better than the Line 6 M13 that treated me well these last several years.
This seems to be like the gcx ground control system I had about 12 years ago. But it was two separate pieces that cost me about 800.00 back then,so the price on this seems really good.
I really like the looks of this. Hey @EHX I'm hoping you do a follow up video detailing how your MIDI control works with this. If I can manage my MIDI effects pedals' settings with this, I'm buying it very soon.
Bump
Think its midi out is very limited and will transmit one Midi message at a time.
Seems like a winner- I’ve been wanting something easy to setup and this looks great
This would be the perfect product if you guys made it so you can change your pedal order around like a lot of these switchers do anymore. Also the ability to switch between serial and parallel would be amazing.
It’s $400, it’s pretty perfect. You’d have to spend another $350 to get that kind of functionality with the boss unit and the same number of loops.
The ideal idea! Put a 2 channel stereo programabl delay looper in it. One that can be switched to after, between and anywhere in the middle of the fx looper.
This is pretty awesome. Nice job EHX!
Sick bass riff
Hey +EHX @EHX I’d really appreciate seeing more example videos with setups involving multiple MIDI pedals.
Now just need this and eight more pedals.
Very cool!
Hello EHX! Big question : what about freeze pedal? How do u manage it with a switcher?
is it possible to plug the two footswitch controlers of my two amps in
this and the switcher handles the canal changes for every presets ? i am
playing with two amps sometimes separatly, sometime both at same time
does stereo out L/R will alow me to use both amps ? is it also possible
to order effects in each preset ?
Can you still route fx through your amplifiers fx loop using this switcher?
what patch cables are u using for this can u share the link ?thx
A question: I have a Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue. It has one effectcontrol in for reverb and channel switch. Can I route the ctrl 2 of the superswitcher through the ctrl1 out, to control channel and reverb with ctrl1 & 2 switch, but with only one cabel?
I looked in the manual (and googled what open and close relay means and for what you need latching) but couldn't come to a conclussion.
What brand of pedal cables did you use? What is the length of the cables?
Are there any videos on how to set up Wet Dry Wet?
Hello! I'm from Brazil. I have questions about the Super Switcher and would like information.
Can I use 16 pedals with the EHX Super Switcher? How many pedals can I use on each foot controller?
Hello, please one Question: Is it possible to control several Midi devices on different Midi channels ? For example: On Preset 1 I want to control Amp Channel No 1 on Midi Channel 1 + Delay Setting No.5 on Midi Channel 2 + Modulation Setting No 7 on Midi Channel 3.
-> All my 3 Devices are Midi Capable.
Thank you and many greetings from Germany
Is it posible to use la loop nr5 as a send return for the amp and the next loop called send return as loop in the return of the amp?
I need 4 pedals in the front of the amp and another 4 in the loop of the amp.
Can you save the channel on my amp with the preset save? Say I want the first preset to always be set to use my distortion channel on my amp but I want the second preset to always be using the clean channel on my amp...Can I save it like that or will I always have to manually switch to what channel I want?
This is awesome and all, but what I REALLY want to know is WHEN are you guys going to release those cool looking vertical 2X12s we've been seeing in the videos lately?!!?
Soon
I assume as true bypass with no obvious built-in software to do it, this thing does not have the ability to carry trails over when switching patches?
Is there a way to use this when some or my pedals goes through my amps effects loop?
Can it handle reverb/delay trails?
yep.. i need one
01:57 - A Graphic EQ Pedal would be perfect for the Insert Loop.
Question: I want to change amp channels with the CTRL 1 & 2 jacks. Do i have to use mono cables or TRS cables?
What a great tool!! I gotta find out how much rock and roll debt I’ll incur over this baby.....
How would handle a pedalboard with 13 pedals to go into the switcher,no stereo pedals?
Very noice.....very toight
Awesome. My only wish is there were more than 8 loops / pedals available. For someone with a lot of pedals, I'd pay more for one with 12 or 16 for example
vikzillllla You could get a second one and chain them together via MIDI to get 16 loops
Do i still need to follow the correct pedal signal chain as i connect it to switcher or not? please reply thank you
Yyyyeeeeeaaaahhhhh...need one.
Can it switch around the order of the loops and save it in the presets?
So can I use this like a big version of the “tri-parallel mixer”?
* throws money at screen
what a monster, luckily I have not that many pedals to control
Great video! How do you connect the BOSS N2 (noise gate) with 4 method cable with this? Also, can I plug my channel footswitch from my amp to the CTRL channel and have a preset for that? Last question, I have a delay pedal with tap function. Does that have anything to do with the « tap » slot on the super switcher?
Question... two years later... but have you managed this? I'm currently looking at this switcher and I had the same question. I think I would do it like this: Guitar > Tuner > NS-2 Input and then NS-2 Send > Switcher. I'd have some overdrive pedals in the first loops and use the output between loop 5 and 6 to go to the front input of my amp. When returning the signal from the Amp FX send, I'd go into the NS-2 Return first, and have that NS-2 Output go to the return between loop 5 and 6. After the 8th loop, I'd have the regular output of the switcher go into the Amp FX Return.
Do you still intend on putting out the Switchblade Pro? I saw it in one of your catalogues a while back and was excited for it but haven't seen anything about it since. If you're still developing it please consider adding a phase inversion switch and maybe a switch to swap the order while in series mode. It already looked like a better solution than the Boss LS2 but those additions would make it perfect.
Yes!
@@EHX Awesome. I'm looking forward to it!
Oh Joy!
Does this come with a patch cable kit?
Does it have spillover the reverb and delay effects or does it cut off when you change the preset?
www.ehx.com/products/super-switcher/instructions
It’s true bypass so no trails
You can select buffered bypass mode so there should be trails
Yaaaaas about fucking time.....✌🏻❤
Somebody knows if it will work to use it as a midi controller for a katana 100 head?
If this could transmit several separate midi messages to different Strymon pedals at once, I’d buy it. But reading the online manual it looks like it’s limited to one message and one channel. Can EHX bottom this out please. Otherwise this looks like a great product that gives more value than other brands offerings that don’t have a bank down button and require you to bend down to switch between groups.
Is there any video in the web on how to program midi with this unit? Everything else looks great and simple, but I am worried that the midi part will be complex with this switcher, and due to lack of information I am leaning towards another switcher 🤷♂️
David the manual is here:
docs.google.com/viewerng/viewer?url=www.ehx.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/super-switcher-manual.pdf
Wow!
So, how many pedals can you hook into this? Very interested and thinking about purchasing but I need it to be able to handle up to 12 or more pedals!
looks like 8 send/returns +1. If there are certain pedals you use together, you can put them on one send/return. If there are some that are always on, you can put on the non-switched (+1) send/return.
Can you reorder the effects in a preset? So if I want to switch loop 3 and 2 to get a different sound is that possible?
No sorry
Hi. Thanks for the video. Is it possible to use the 4 cable method (routing some of the pedals to the front and others to the fx loop)?
The "send/return" that is shown at 2:00 is where your send/return for your effects loop would go. So you can have 5 effects before the effects loop and 3 effects in the loop.
@@megamania501 So where do you take the input ( into the amp guitar input )from?
I don't want to need it.
Can You use other pedals or just EHX? Also, can you turn on/off your pedals connected by steping on them, or you have to control them all through this?
Sure you can use any pedals. If the loop is active in the switcher you can turn your pedals on and off stepping on them.
can the switcher "ctrl" be programmed to be 'on/off" per preset? and are those "ctrl" able to control channel switching or other amp function switching per preset? and the loops are all "fixed" position, you cannot change the loop order per preset. so no putting loop 3 in front of loop 1 on preset 5 and then changing it again on preset 6. I am only asking so I can know, I am not bagging on this switcher it looks like a very powerful tool and the price is killer!
Yes, the Super Switcher will save the CTRL 1 and 2 status per preset. The order of the loops is fixed for analog, mechanical relay bypass switching.
Are you able to go back and forth from two different pedal settings on the same pedal? Sorry if that doesnt make sense. But can you set (lets say reverb) pedal to a big hall sound setting, switch the bank and set the pedal to a spring like setting and go back and forth from those settings? Or is it all connected to the current settings on the pedal?
Scout it would be the current settings on the pedal.
This was my question too. Essentially, the super switcher is a signal router turning on and off different pedals in unison using the footswitch bank. Any changes you need to make to the pedals that create different sounds while you play must be done manually and independent from the super switcher.
Will the mono channel inputs on the super switcher capture the stereo output aspects of my strymon pedals if I run a dual mono to stereo lead from the strymon into it? Also same question for the input on the super switcher if I run the same cable from my quad cortex into the input? Thank you please 😀
Please write the techs at info@ehx.com. They can help you out.
@@EHX thank you
I could potentially use this as a midi foot switch for the 96000? I’d like to set the 96000 on the top of my Wurlitzer but want to be able to have footswitch control for the Play, Record, Octave, Reverse, Track Select, and Loop Up/Down buttons. It’s a shame the 96000 doesn’t have to ability to have a dedicated footswitch, I know it’s built in but it’s impossible to use some of the features without your hands
It may well work but a bit overkill for what you are needing as there a lot of features on this that would go unused.
I'm not seeing an ON/OFF switch on this thing. I guess you have to unplug it to turn it off???
Is it possible to combine front and FX Loop pedals? (separate output to FX Loop) Thank you.
Use the stereo I guess 🤷 if your amp has a loop on/off footswitch that runs on midi it can be controlled with this but it's going to take someone with enough sense to eventually develop an effect loop in/out with the ability to give the option of sending the effect through the amp effects loop or the amp input. It's very possible to do but nobody does it.
Can you turn the Buffer in, off? I have a lot of fuzzes. Plus, I have all of my Modulation and time based effects in the effects loop of my Boss KT100. How does that work? Right now, I'm running some stuff into and out of, 2 Tri Parallels. I'm thinking I would have to keep those, too.
Yes you can turn it off.
Can you use 4 cable method? If so how do you isolate the pedals in the amps fx loop?
You possibly have to allocate one of the loops as an fx loop for the unit and connect in the usual 4CM way. Most switchers require this for 4CM.
Can this send midi control over pedal settings on your banks? Or only clock changes from a computer?
Not sure if this answers your question, but I have both a EVH5150 amp with 3 MIDI-controlled channels, and a TC Electronic Nova OD/distortion that's MIDI-controlled. To control both the amp and the pedal from the Super Switcher I connected a MIDI "Y" splitter cable from the Super Switcher to both amp and pedal. Each of the 8 Super Switcher buttons turns on whatever MIDI setting I want on both amp and pedal. For example, I programmed button 1 on the Super Switcher to switch to the green channel on the amp and bypass on the Nova pedal. Button 2 switches my amp to its blue channel and the Nova pedal switches on it's overdrive. Button 3 is programmed to switch the amp to its red channel and bypass on the Nova pedal. Button 4 is programmed to switch the amp back to the green channel and turn on the distortion on the Nova pedal. I hope this info is helpful to you.
Can the stereo outputs be turned on/off? As in, can I use this as a typical a-b-y switch? I dont use midi as far as amps go but could with axefx.
www.ehx.com/products/super-switcher/instructions
AB yes but not Y. You could output A from loop 8 and output B from OUT.
Hi guys question. Is this unit able to switch channels on an amp with midi when you change your pedal preset? For example, pressing 1 would turn on flanger & ensure my EVH is on green channel. Pressing 2 would turn on a boost, gate and ensure EVH is on blue channel. Does it do this?
Yes, just set the midi out channel number to match your amp (it’s probably on Ch1 by default) and follow the amp manual midi section. . My JVM works a treat with midi. I can select any one of its modes, turn the reverb on/off, switch the solo boost on/off , switch the fx loop on/off etc and change delay presets on my Strymon Timeline at the touch of a button.
So....you could put all your effects into a rack using the switcher and then run a midi foot pedal to the switcher to switch patches?
yes
Hello, I do have a little question. Can I use the super switcher simultaneously with my amp's effect loop?
Not sure, as I don't have one. But I would probably use the insert jacks to plug in your amp. So that would be: Guitar into the Switcher Input, through the switcher, out from the insert send into the amp input, through the preamp, out from the FX Loop Send into the insert return in the switcher, through the rest of the switcher, and out from the switcher output into the FX Loop return in your amp.
Because the insert is always on, your amp would be always on.
The "send/return" that is shown at 2:00 is where your send/return for your effects loop would go. So you can have 5 effects before the effects loop and 3 effects in the loop.
Does it have a channel switcher for my amp ??
You can use the CTRL 1 or 2 footswitches for that. Check the manual of your amp to see what kind of message it needs, and then set that up in the Function Mode of the Super Switcher.
How would one use a noise gate that stays in the fx loop with this switcher? I'm using the Fortin zuul.
Put it after the switcher and before the amp/DI
Are the loops serial or fully parallel? Meaning, can I cascade loop 4 into loop 1 and then go into loop 8? Or am I tied to the order of the loops and is that not possible? I need to know this before purchase
Dikke here is the manual with all the functions www.ehx.com/assets/instructions/super-switcher.pdf
If you need more help drop the techs a line at info@ehx.com
I basically just need this for a rack mounted system
Wait. So can you use maybe one row of switches to have some loops in instant access and use the other to have them in preset mode?
That would be ideal. Like, using the instant access mode to activate a wah for example, at any time. But use the preset mode to activate three other pedals at once?
This is the klnd of control I want, but I only need half the buttons
As long as I've played guitar 25yrs... I've never had or considered a switcher. I run a traditional stomp box setup, into a M13, into Fx loop of my amp. My question is can a "switcher" recall different settings/dials from your analogue pedals, for each preset? Ex: for one I have my Earthquaker Palisades set to OD mode low gain, then on another switcher preset have it set to palisades fuzz heavy gain? Or can it not do that, and when the switcher calls up that pedal it's stuck to whatever dials you have it on? What about a digital pedal, like a HX stomp? can you have the switcher call up different fx and settings from the Stomp, and assign them to different presets on the switcher?
Tom No Not unless your analog pedals have midi control and presets. This just switches audio and sends midi comands
@@EHX thanks Team EHX for the clarification!
@@EHX do you know if anyone is trying to develop a system that would recall knob settings for multiple stompboxes? maybe with solar power or electromagnetic currents in the atmosphere to twist the knobs all at once, or quantum entanglement. i would buy one of those. i am also intrigued by this device. would the freeze button on my Superego+ be controlled by the Super Switcher?
How are 4 wire connections made? Can the loops that go to the front of the amp and to the amp loop be varied?
Cable 1: guitar to Super Switcher (SS) Input
Cable 2: Send from SS to the amp Input
Cable 3: Send from the amp to SS Return
Cable 4: Output of SS to the Return of the amp
Put your tone shaping effects in Loops 1-5, use the Send/Return loop for the 4-Cable method, and put your modulation and/or time-based effects in Loops 6-8. Then fuhgeddaboudit!
Good question. Most switchers force you to allocate and sacrifice a loop for 4CM. Not sure if this lets you change loop order like others do.
Jumpin' Jesus! I need this or get on Reverb, list a ton of crap, sell all my pedals, and plug straight into an SVT...🤔
Shipping weight according to one of the retailers is 6lbs. What is the weight of the actual unit?
Please write. info@ehx.com
No separate loops for fx loop in my amp?
You get 3 loops for your fx loop, with the last loop the option to run it stereo
Ok, but why is the always in effect at number 5? What if my always on effects are first in the chain?
Then run your guitar into those effects before running into the switcher. The "always on" loop between in/outs 5 & 6 is to go to your effects loop on your amp. If you use this, then in/outs 6, 7, and 8 will be in your amp's effects loop.
Can you change the pedal order on this??
No sorry
can you switch a fender amp with this
CTRL 1 & CTRL 2
The Super Switcher has two control functions that can be used as general-
purpose switches. This is useful to change channels on amplifiers, turn
amp reverb or tremolo on and off, or switch parameters on effects pedals
remotely. The control functions can be configured as normally open or
normally closed switches. Latching or momentary behavior can also be
selected.

That means 6,7 and 8 would have to go or nothing at all...? Can you please confirm this.. Thank you
@@axkmster Yes, this is usually called the “4 Cable Method”. Try this:
1. Plug your guitar in the input of the SS
2. Use the SEND of the INSERT loop to go from the SS to the main input of your amp
3. From the send of your amp’s effect loop, run a cable to the RETURN of the INSERT Loop on the SS
4. Finally, for the output of the SS, go back to the return of your amp’s effect loop
With this setup, Loops 1-5 are sent to the front of your amp, hitting the preamp, and Loops 6-8 and sent to the amp’s effect loop.

If there are two (or more) pedals that you always turn on and off at the same time, you can run those together in the same loop.
