I feel like the category I'm most in would be the Subterranean Hermit when it comes to Early Game Survival Mode specifically, but I don't dig down to make a base, more so into the side of a mountain or cliff. I just find it more effective in that stage, as you're gaining resources carving out the space instead of spending them building one. Later on, however, I do tend to swing into the Medieval category quite a bit. Wood and Stone are always easy to get and are never a bad choice in color palette. I do still use SEUS Shaders all the while, though. I have an RTX 2060 in my laptop, and you'd better believe I'm using it.

Other category: project starter. Makes massive projects and starts new ones after five minutes. Never finishes them and their world is filled with half made contraptions and builds.
Personally, I find large cave systems to move into. I try and live underground, ideally under a mountain and have farms and things on top/outside. I also build castles or whatever with my leftover stone from expanding my house. I highly recommend this style of playing because as you expand your base, you gather resources instead of using them

I would like to build pretty stuff but I'm also not good at that. I always play in peaceful mode because the monsters keep me from my important tasks like getting lost underground and collecting random cool stuff that I have no idea what to do with.
Another category: The Helper. Someone who's happy to do grindy things, or run back to the base for an item the group needs. They always share their food and they're always carrying sticks. I'm a detail lover, though, which includes builds and really beautiful, simple, compact redstone.
Definitely a helper here - I grind and build things for others and I always have everything I need with me in my ender chest and just give things to others! Also rather detail-oriented and a hoarder too... i love making small builds and I take everyone else's junk and keep it 😂
Def a helper. I have my stuff ultra organized when I can just so that if someone says "I need this thing does anyone have it?" I can pull it out of a chest like a grandma pulling candy from her purse "Why yes! Here you go deary! Go have fun now ^.^"
I pose to you the twenty first category, the pit digger. In every server I own or am part of, I dig a massive 50x50 pit to bedrock and then strip mine from any depth I want. Eventually turns into a massive underground mining operation.
I think I am a prep person, I constructed a base with a lockdown system and it disabled the door mechanism, closed the other door behind that one, put up Netherite walls in the hallways, and the base had a dormitory, laboratory, experimentation room (a big empty room) a pool, a lobby, an armory, a medical office, a bunker, and a control room (which I haven’t finished due to all the red stone stuff that has to be made) and it had iron golems everywhere to keep the mobs out since the base is well below ground. I personally adore having my actual base with all my rooms underground and being a little mole and then make massive structures all over on top for decor. Why make a base that will eventually run out of room when you could dig out new rooms forever and ever without having to rebuild. I love it!
I’m on a skyblock server, I’m just building a huge lab under the main layer, it’s got custom generators as well. So I decided to build it all out of iron thoug :/
Then there’s “the lonesome workhorse”. The person who plays single player, and builds a massive impressive world that no one will ever see. I fall into this one XD
The storage guy: Hello, need storage? I have a whole mountain mined and filled with chests, barrels, and shulker boxes just for you! - Always has an empty container for use - Probably has a lot of cobblestone due to mining - Usually lives in the place where all the containers are - Basically infinite storage for anything - May or may not sort, usually not sorted
My category is the one who finds a village, stays in the village (mostly Tiega villages Forgot how to spell), upgrade villagers, build a lot of houses, and become stacked with emeralds. I Shall call this category "The Monopoly Player."
I would like to add a 21st option. ‘The Village Dweller’: Players who would rather expand and revamp the pre-existing villages then have to build from scratch. They also help protect the village inhabitants, but in return take the villager’s crops along with a building of choice to make a home.
That's sort of a subset of the naturalist type: the one who takes the original world as it came, and makes minor tweaks to touch it up while letting the original form guide the player.
TheReaverOfDarkness: Yeah I understand what you’re saying. I’d argue that sometimes the village modifications are very much beyond minor tweaks. But I guess that’s why you’d call it a subset rather than a full on ‘Naturalist’. Either way you’ve made a very valid point.
I’m in the Long Game category. It’s gone to the point where I ended up renovating some of my old builds and building random buildings incase I have an idea (all in creative mode). It’s even gone to a point where I have an item with a missing texture.
My category: Setting a base with everything I could need then never leaving it to go mining or exploring because I'd be to scared to leave my in-game comfort zone :,)
You forgot the “In over their head” category. You start your world, and you get a pretty good supply of building materials, so you decide to start a mega base. You think you’ll start this HUGE, AMAZING base that’ll take WEEKS to complete. You end up doing one wall.
You forgot about one The Speedrunners: The people who only want to defeat the Ender Dragon and try to do it as fast as they can. They don't care about anything else. EDIT: Many people have told me that this type of player could fall under a couple of categories addressed in the video. And I have to tell you, I agree. But I'm too proud of this comment's success to delete it or change it. Thanks, have a great day.
It's a bit belated, but I'd say I lean towards a mix of the explorer, tiny bit of modded miner, medieval obsessed, maybe a lil bit of the challenge accepter. I like messing around with relatively simple but pleasant builds that serve me well in survival singleplayer, so a lot of builds in the vein of simple medieval cottages, hall houses, longhouses, what-have-you are a good way to get a very practical space that looks decent. I also enjoy exploring the surface and playing a more wilderness-focused game, and when I do settle down it's usually with that simple medieval aesthetic in mind, expand out and cultivate the space around me into something decently comfortable while still generally being practical. Both of these ends are well-served by modding, but I'm more interested in tinkering with modding for my own use than I am with exploring the latest and greatest in Minecraft mods. So far in the case of Minecraft itself I've take more of a liking to testing the limits of the datapack system rather than using anything that requires an external mod loader, and that is actually very well-suited to making innawoods/wilderness gameplay a lot more fleshed out, rebalancing a lot of basic flaws in vanilla Minecraft's gameplay, tweaking loot tables and gameplay tags to enhance the experience, etc. You can do a remarkable amount just messing with JSON alone, long before you even get into the fringes of functions and structure stuff that datapacks can also mess with (also stuff I've yet to branch out into). I've also combined that interest in datapack modding with challenges, mostly in the form of single-biome worlds. A very interesting thing to do I've found has been to generate a single-biome world, look at what's available, and ask oneself just what's missing to make survival in that world impractical. If there are any easy tweaks that I feel actually fit the theme of "more fleshed out wilderness survival" without just being outright "make something out of nothing with no logic involved" then it can be worthwhile for me to add it to my personal mod to further expand the player's options.
IKR? on my single player i can just spend hours feeding cows, harvesting pumpkins and wheat manually, replanting, cutting trees... and on multiplayer I feel like i spend half my time doing that or organising the stuff my servermates (we share a base) just drop in random chests cuz they are in a hurry into their proper place in the storage system...
Me: *"The Settler"* These kinds of people just enjoy playing the game like a storyline. They use this game to relax and as a getaway, a sort of fantasy world where the only person is you and you make your own rules. These people usually have their home base, their headquarters. No matter how much they explore or how far they go, they will always come back to this one cozy, modest, little home. These people people enjoy settling down and not having to worry about a single thing. They wont bother with redstone building, experience farming, or competition. For them, "Sweden" never stops playing.
@@AMOUNGTHELEAFS haha! Literally me. I just started playing on my phone a few months ago and have been filling up maps. Have 4 so far. I make little homes here and there just as a shelter, but I always return back to my very first house
ME I don’t like playing on anything other than peaceful because it’s just so much easier and I don’t like the stress of that in the early days of a new world when you most likely start in a hill or something
I think it's also worth mentioning the Fighter and the Miner, respectively the one who's always waiting for night to come in to get geared up with the best tools and to battle hordes of monsters, and the one who's always with the strongest pickaxe searching the entire map for ores to collect

I personally adore having my actual base with all my rooms underground and being a little mole and then make massive structures all over on top for decor. Why make a base that will eventually run out of room when you could dig out new rooms forever and ever without having to rebuild. I love it!
Same with me
I made a big castle in my server. The basement keeps getting bigger and bigger🙃
That's when I dig out a basement and then a basement for my basement and then a basement for my basement for my basement...
I’m on a skyblock server, I’m just building a huge lab under the main layer, it’s got custom generators as well. So I decided to build it all out of iron thoug :/
I agree
Then there’s “the lonesome workhorse”. The person who plays single player, and builds a massive impressive world that no one will ever see. I fall into this one XD
This is me 100% as well!
Me but without the impressive part, i just made gigantic builds on my own and set booby traps everywhere that I'd setoff out of boredom
same here pal :(
Same here only difference being I end up getting lost and forgetting entirely where my base was so I end up rebuilding numerous times lol

The storage guy:
Hello, need storage? I have a whole mountain mined and filled with chests, barrels, and shulker boxes just for you!
- Always has an empty container for use
- Probably has a lot of cobblestone due to mining
- Usually lives in the place where all the containers are
- Basically infinite storage for anything
- May or may not sort, usually not sorted

My category is the one who finds a village, stays in the village (mostly Tiega villages Forgot how to spell), upgrade villagers, build a lot of houses, and become stacked with emeralds. I Shall call this category "The Monopoly Player."
I fall into that category
*genius*
The Mayor
Well then I guess I am the unofficial mayor of my village
Yes! And then once I've monopolized a village, I go out and find new ones to take over
I would like to add a 21st option. ‘The Village Dweller’:
Players who would rather expand and revamp the pre-existing villages then have to build from scratch.
YES

You forgot the “In over their head” category. You start your world, and you get a pretty good supply of building materials, so you decide to start a mega base. You think you’ll start this HUGE, AMAZING base that’ll take WEEKS to complete. You end up doing one wall.

It's same as the challenger one

These kinds of people just enjoy playing the game like a storyline.
Am with you on that, have a huge home base the run in a random direction for 3 days setup a base then make a road home
Rendog falls quite a bit into this category, with his builds normally having some kind of story to them
