My husband and I are addicted to watching this family!!! He found them when I suggested that he STOP WATCHING "NEWS" and obsessing about impending doom and START WATCHING HOMESTEADING and prepper videos that show us the way to freedom. First, I was blown away that he listened to me🤣 Then I was amazed that I hadn't found this channel first🤨 Then we just started binge watching these girls build tiny houses and pack out elk they shot, and catch 20lb salmon... 😳❤❤❤❤❤WTG GRIDLESSNESS!!!
This is the best video I have ever seen. My wife and I are 23 years old and have a 9 month old daughter and live in Alaska. We live in the biggest city in Alaska, Anchorage. I am so tired of living and working my life away in this city and always being away from my family. Everything these guys have done is exactly what we want to do. You have inspired me totally that is not just do-able but simple to do. Thank you so much for the information
@boonedog1457 we are not living off grid yet. But we did leave Anchorage. Moved to Kenai and are extremely happy. I found a job that I get a lot more time at home as well and will hopefully be taking more steps towards the lifestyle we want in the not to distant future
I started out late ... I was the big corporate guy commuting to the Middle East or USA monthly, expense account, 6 digit salary...but it all changed 19 years ago. I realised I would always need the salary to live that way.. and I hated it. Now I live in a simple life - 2 bed cottage in Ireland on 12 acres and am retired at 55 on a far "less than minimum wage" pension for the rest of my life.....with sheep, horses, dogs, hens, ducks a cat and ....it was totally worth it !
I am about to do the same at 57. The area doesn't matter, what will be on offer does. It is liberating to think that i dont know where in the UK I will be this time next year. I am too late to provide the smallholding life to my 2 adult kids but my grandkids will have fun. That is if my kids produce any!
I love there vids and homesteady too,me and my wife are starting late we are 65 and starting a 5 acre homestead 60 miles from the closest town of any size, we know it will be tough but our hearts are there already!!
And the only reason you can say "it will be tough" is because you have expectations, which you can either drown in or throw to the winds. God Bless, and love one day at a time.
I have been watching your family on you tube and am just amazed at how close knit your family is. Love your talented daughters and their beautiful smiles. I'm a retired school teacher from Northern Maine and know a good kid when I see one. To think that they built their own little house is awesome. You are the envy of so many families.
Oh God, you are a beautiful and integrated family. Everyone in the family has an important role. Girls are professionals in everything. I watch all your videos to the point that I feel like a member of the family. All the love to you ❤️
I'm 54 from the states but have lived in Spain for many years. I have been talking with my 3 sons to make the move back to the states to buy land and start our adventure and homestead. Great video to see how others make it work. 🙏🇺🇸💪
I do admire this family. They have a better quality of life than many city folk. Hopefully some of the girls will continue with this kind of lifestyle when they are older.
Many people are waking up and realizing that you can achieve your dream without becoming a slave to your debts, greetings from Alaska. I'm in the process of transitioning from City Life to country living.
First time HOMESTEADY, Long time Gridlessness watcher. I grew up on a working ranch so money came in once a year and work was never done you just start where you left off when it got dark. We are dept free and property and houses are our retirement fund. Every house we build and sell we reinvest and live simply. Willing to sacrifice is how we get ahead. All of our vehicles is over 14 years old. I lost everything and was homeless and never begged. My wife's family build there own house then lost it in a flood and lived in the barn till they built again. Knowing that you can do it from experience certainly helps. We also put our Faith in God's plan for us. I enjoy watching Rose and Jeff's kids get after it and work well(and never letting Jeff off the hook). The opposite channel would be called Gutlessness. Be Blessed.
Thanks guys so much for this great inspiring story. We love to watch both Homesteady and Gridlessness. My hubby and I are almost 60 and just beginning our homestead journey in 2018. We have met many age related challenges but are determined to make this thing work. Thanks for what you all do, sharing the ups and downs and everything in between. You are an inspiration!
What a wonderful life you all are living! British Columbia provides an excellent life for all of you. Thank goodness for the Boreal forest and all that she gives. Enjoy, all of you!
Love watching you guys add all the accomplishments as the girls grow and two beautiful young women. I got myself debt-free about 10 years ago and have been homesteading most of my adult life, the last 10 by myself. Yes it's hard work but infinitely rewarding.
I have so much respect for you guys... I was raised with all sisters, then had all girls, so I can relate. What great humans all of you are. You and Rose are exceptionally great parents, and the girls are blessed. From what I have seen they are also a blessings! Binge watched, sub'ed and liked. Thanks for sharing.
I have been following both of your You Tube families for a few years and have throughly enjoyed the videos. I'm 59 and have raised 5 wonderful adults, and am presently my mother's caregiver. When the next stage begins of my life, I'm hoping for it to be on raw land. My age and disabilities will factor into how and how long it takes to do things, but that won't stop me. Water, fire (heat) and shelter. Who "needs" crown mouldings anyway? Blessings ~
I’m 59. Are you single? Need a partner? I’m tired of how I’ve “existed” over the last 59 years. Wanting to actually “live” . These people are living life the way it was intended!
With attitudes like yours, and faith in yourselves, and love, we all surely can do whatever we decide to, and the societal default of working for the man generates another generation of the same. You guys DO have the right idea, and what a model for the rest of us! We can see it in your unceasing smiles!
This is awesome! I assume you home school your girls. Our mom and dad did the same thing with 2 girls and 4 boys. We lived in a family sized one room tent and us boys slept in a large leantoo that we built out of logs and and a tarp. We lived for six months in the s/w Oregon forest and 7 more months beside the Verde river in Arizona. It was AWESOME! Mom and dad home schooled all of us children until we graduated. What you are doing is wonderful! For entertainment our mom read to us at night and we played SCRABBLE and various card games. We were closer as a family because of it.
Jeff & Rose... I love that you’ve chosen your own path... You have a beautiful life, a beautiful family... In an earlier comment, I thought that you should try for a boy... but your five girls are all each in their own way very special. Beautiful, smart, kind & loving... With that retraction, and with girls like yours, will inevitably bring plenty of boys around. Grandkids & Son-in-Laws, two bird, one stone. And how wonderful your family will be then! God has Blessed you! Your love for a simple life, your love as a family, brings those who enjoy your videos reflection and inspiration. Blessings to you all. Rand
love Jeff and the family. Been watching them for a few years now. They are pretty funny and do all sorts of super cool stuff. Thanks for having them on the show.
Very new concept to me, all of this. My takeaway from it seems to be....the 3 P’s; 1) Perspective - how? 2) Position - finances? 3) Purpose - why? This addressed all of those to some extent. Really informative. Thank you!
My husband and I are doing the same thing, in a little different way. Our land was "rough" land, and still is in many ways. We have done all of our clearing with a push mower and a sawzaw. We are transitioning to living there full time. My husband will continue to work for a few years after we move, but, I will be on the land full time. We are very close to our 50's, and it is a lot of hard work, but, so we'll worth it!
thank you. truly amazing family. I forwarded this video to my grand son and his girlfriend. (17) who are long term I think; they have been together 2 years and have life plans to get to Alaska;
SO great! It's so refreshing to see people like this. My husband and I know we have a good life from the outside looking in but it just seems like we are always going backwards financially. Luckily we bought in a good area and would be able to buy and built in certain areas of BC. It's amazing how we have normalized debt to be such a part of life, but it def. doesn't have to be. Such a wonderful family, thank you for the encouragement. God Bless
Hi Jeff and Rose. My name is Rene Uy. I am from the Philippines. I first saw your family video today (May 28, 2020).i must say i enjoyed your video. I saw your family hunting for mountain goat, but you caught nothing. Well sometimes that really happens. Your kids are awesome. So good for them to enjoy and learned many outdoor stuff. They are too fortunate to see natures beauty. I admired your decision to bring your family off-grid. I think life off grid is simple but less stress. In our place now, our govt is encouraging families to adopt their plan of "Going back to the Province" in view of the covid pandemic. Your videos seems right on time if we are to go off grid too. Anyway i will keep watching your blogs and will recommend to our friends. I hope to hear from you. Be safe 😊
This is one of the best videos you've done. And that's saying a lot cause I watch and enjoy pretty much all your videos. But this is one of the extra special gems.
I love these guys ! The family has grown up right in front of our eyes ! They are so fun ! I recently lost my phone in a flooded junk yard ( long story long day) but I got a new one and same number . But lost a lot of stuff ! I can’t remember the name of their channel ! So sad !
Wow. I will turn 42 and we are about 80% in completing the homestead (house, root cellar, greenhouse, workshop, barn, chicken coop, sauna). It has been a lot of hard work and the system has made it quite difficult for us. We had difficulties with building permits and the property tax&home insurance alone is becoming stressful (we are in Nova Scotia. Very high cost of living with very low wages). We were starting to look at Ecuador but we are not financially independent enough yet. Also I am getting tired and don't know if I would want to start all over again especially at the age that you mentioned (65!). But glad to hear that you are doing well and I wish you the best! Which province/state are you in?
@@fabiancanada8876 Hey, if you don't have a mortgage, like I don't, maybe do as I have done: I don't have homeowners insurance! Instead, I have $100K renters insurance. The decision to switch was a no-brainer. Plus, with homeowners insurance, losses are "adjusted" ( read that, bend over and spread 'em). Renter's insurance pays replacement value on personal property losses, no "adjusting" and no hassle. I built this house (all welded steel and concrete). I can just build another one, if an EF5 Tornado sweeps this one to Oz, for no more than $20K in materials. I'm a retired plumbing & electrical contractor and certified welder. I homestead in North Texas.
I have been watching your videos and I enjoyed Thank you for updating regularly And those hunting trips hiking and camping just love it Happy family you got there ... I wish I could live the dream you are living
Loved the video!! You can work to live,, or live to work!! Wife & i did it 20 years,, grew 90 % of our food,, started a co-op so we could buy Organic food that we couldn't grow,, it's all about having good food & plenty of it!! No paper down the hole in your outhouse,, saves room & keeps the smell down,, burn it ... Pee in a bucket pour around your fruit trees,, they'll love it,, but don't keep it over a day... Buying a tractor farm with a backhoe & buckett is cheaper than having someone build the driveway.,, build your own,, dig a well,, rock it up,, or use cedar logs,,, 15 feet deep should be be fine!! The world needs more families like yours,, greenhouse build onto the south side of your cabin would extend & help with the food production.. Fresh salad all winter.. love love loved it!!!
One of your videos came up on my recommended You Tube page and as soon as I saw the landscape I knew you where in British Columbia. I live in Abbotsford, BC. I'm hoping to start my homestead in 4-5 years.
What an inspiration you guys are for us, if God willing, 2021 will be the year for me and my family to jump into this adventure, along with other brothers and sisters in Christ.
My wife and I have not had children. She has two from a previous marriage. We built a business and made some money. We decided to leave where we were and buy a sailboat. As a result we sailed from Seward Alaska to southern Mexico. We both remember our twelve yoears on the boat as the best years of our marriage. Kudos to this family.
I live in a little cabin off-grid. I haul water and fill a 250 gallon tank in my loft room and have gravity from there. Hot water from my very old McClary Charm kitchen wood cook stove. Wood heat. Small generator. Planning my solar system. Outdoor toilet.
You have done exactly what I'm planning on doing. I'm also in that older Group, Lol.. I plan on doing it with myself and two grown son's. Keep up the great work and Enjoy the Life you built.
i love watching during this time lovely family very interesting to watch thank you i was your viewer since this pandemic all over the world..im her now in kingdom of saudi arabia overseas worker and i came from philippines....goodluck and more videos to do tcare always....
ATTENTION!!!! All future Homesteaders, "Regardless of your age, if you chose to live a debt free life, just step out and do it!" The operative word is a free life. We worked in the big cities all across the United States and consulted worldwide, throughout our entire careers. We raised two children. One is a Professor, with a PhD and is married with no children. The other child is an assistant to a prominent Doctor in a nearby city. In our mid 60's we retired and decided to homestead. Weve been homesteading now for 7 years and we love it. We live a simple life, in our cabin in the woods, in the mountains. We harvest rainwater, grow gardens, etc. GOD told us way before we retired that our best years were yet to come. Man, was he right! 🙏We only wish we would of done this at age 25 and not raised our kids in the city. We adore your family. Hey kids, you are not missing anything from not living in the city or the corrupt world. Hug your Mom and Dad. You are much better people because of this lifestyle and because of awesome parents. Please never forget it. 🙏Shalom!
I’m am single parent of 4 and currently bought an 40 acre property in AZ and currently working on my business to be able to move and start my homestead. I bought a ranch last year not completely off grid but have a well and have a few animals just preparing me to go completely off grid. I’ll obviously be selling it before I move :)
That's the way we are doing, bought 13.4 acres all trees, 1st er cleared a driveway and enough land to put a out house out there and then tiny house ect.
We live this *Mud season, I can sympathize walking in, out all seasons 2 mile driveway *No running water *Out door loo.....February in Maine..yep we do it * kids exploring the land
Frist time i saw yalls vids ..showed the solar panel porch..i said is guy makes do in the right way im subup ..all the best great looking girls. Wish all could be rised that why..
For me the hold up right now is the job. I'm single, debt free and saving. I make great money at my current 40hr/week job and just don't know how I'd make the cash I need to keep home stead running (gas, machinery parts, etc.) I've thought of seasonal work perhaps, but I'd love to be homesteading full time and sustainably some day.

Great example of great family values which involve the abundance of mother nature incorporated into real daily life. Good luck and God Bless.
That’s awesome! We will be debt free next month! It’s a long process, but so worth it.
Good luck to you!🌷

Now you need to sink a well, get water filter, store food, toilet paper, medications, etc because we don't know what the Denty Twenties will hand out.

Very new concept to me, all of this. My takeaway from it seems to be....the 3 P’s;

What an inspiration you guys are for us, if God willing, 2021 will be the year for me and my family to jump into this adventure, along with other brothers and sisters in Christ.
Thank you for sharing:) Please show more of the girls activities. They are wonderful
I only have one child and I just turned 36 today. Your life is my dream.
I second that 🙏
Have you gotten any closer? My dream as well.
I love their channel!! He's super funny and their girls are so witty!

Your family is a blessing
Been debt free in the good old USA for 30 years. Liberation from debt.
I live in a little cabin off-grid. I haul water and fill a 250 gallon tank in my loft room and have gravity from there. Hot water from my very old McClary Charm kitchen wood cook stove. Wood heat. Small generator. Planning my solar system. Outdoor toilet.
Love your living live with your family esprcially those girls. Love to you and family and friends
You have done exactly what I'm planning on doing. I'm also in that older Group, Lol.. I plan on doing it with myself and two grown son's. Keep up the great work and Enjoy the Life you built.

🙏Shalom!

I bought a ranch last year not completely off grid but have a well and have a few animals just preparing me to go completely off grid. I’ll obviously be selling it before I move :)

I love your lifestyle
For me the hold up right now is the job. I'm single, debt free and saving. I make great money at my current 40hr/week job and just don't know how I'd make the cash I need to keep home stead running (gas, machinery parts, etc.) I've thought of seasonal work perhaps, but I'd love to be homesteading full time and sustainably some day.
