This seems to be enhanced by (poor) cgi? Her movements and look just don't seem natural. Love the lady and the VOICE! God I wish she hadn't got involved with duchebag Phil.
Billy released it and it didn’t really sell, she did her version and it didn’t really sell both in the late 70s,them Billy released the live version in the early 80s and it became a hit
I forgot Billy Joel wrote this for Ronnie until reminded last night on a TV tribute to her. This is such is such a sweet video & shows she really was a one off. Thank you, Ronnie
Every time she sang those songs, which must have been thousands of times, you got the feeling it was the first time, and she was singing it just for you. She lit those places up, and all the people as well. What a bright little light.
Rest In Peace, Ronnie. Thanks for your voice and music ❤️ So much more than a muse but as inspiring to Phil, Brian Wilson, and obviously as heard here, Billy Joel.
Damn she sings this good. It’s been one of my fave Billy Joel songs since the 70’s. Didn’t know it was a tribute to Ronnie or that she’d covered it. RIP to a genuine legend.
Your music is as much a part of my life as my brothers are..thank you Ronnie, you'll always be here with us who appreciate re music and the people who made it..
THAT’S what was wrong… could not put my finger on that mis-matched, over-blown too-loud band sound… it was all wrong for her soulful singing. Thanks for clearing up the mystery!
thank you, @E W ! enough of the Philip bashing! they roasted him with no real evidence. if he is crazy, then why was that not considered in the verdict? many will lie under oath for $$! and BTW, if everyone hates him so much, why did Ronnie not change her name when she remarried?
Linda J Gaeta okay first of all. He killed an actress in 2003, and he locked Veronica(Ronnie) in his mansion With his children locked in their rooms aswell. There is a lot of evidence my friend
@@sebziez - indeed! She earns no royalties from the Ronettes' hits, as she agreed to forfeit those in her divorce settlement under extreme pressure from that lunatic.
@@lindajgaeta8935 - because if most people saw posters advertising 'Ronnie Greenfield In Concert', they'd think, "Who's she?" When they see the name 'Ronnie Spector' up there, they know exactly who she is! Sadly, in order to stay in business, she has had to use her hateful ex-husband's surname professionally.
First time hearing this version. What a great voice she had. You can hear a bit of Southside and the Jukes in it. Rip Ronnie your music will live on. 💙
FTR, this is a Billy Joel song she recorded as a one-off 45 stab at an album deal (didn't happen) w The E-Street Band (no Bruce, but plenty of Clarence). Who sez Jersey n Long Island ain't cool 'bout our respective heroes - esp when it comes to honoring the legends who propelled each to a lifetime crap-shoot of bottling lightening? Props to all. Miss you, Veronica, always.
Ronnie Spector's Christmas shows at the City Winery used to be a huge part of Christmas for me, she would tell her amazing series of being a real rock n roll survivor. The background to this song was apparently after escaping barefoot from Phil Spector's mansion she was back in New York working as a domestic cleaner for a living. One day a Liverpudlian voice shouted across the street to her "Hey Spector girl how are you doing". It was John Lennon . She said she was having a hard time and Lennon said, "give Jimmy Iovine a call he is working with some kid from New Jersey who they say is the next big thing. The kid was Bruce Springsteen and within a month or so she was on the road doing BVs with the E Street Band. Someone should make a movie of her story, it makes Tina Turner's battles sound tame. I hope somewhere there is a video of those concerts they were so special. Christmas is not the same without Ronnie Spector.
Never knew this existed. She’s so skinny! Minimal makeup. I’ve seen -later video of her, but this special. She’s always had great hair. And in the 80’s big hair was it. So much energy and a kickass attitude.
Probably my most favorite song ever I truly miss and love Ronnie Spector she came from a different music era than me but I can relate to her beautiful music anytime anywhere
Her talent never wavered. Same sexy , slightly raspy voice. Happy go lucky kid from ny. She never let us down. Will always be our little b a b y. Bless your spirit.
What a shame that in the UK Ronnie has been denied the headline tributes that she deserves because of sleeze and misconduct allegations against a prime minister, a prince and an anti-vax tennis player.
This is a supremely better version than the record. I love Steve van Zandt and the E street band, but the record completely drowned her voice out and made the E street band higher in the mix.
I agree 1000%. That record is just about unlistenable. Steve put so much reverb on her voice, horrible. And the band does drown her out! Really like this UK TV version. Steve probably doing too much coke at the time!
Ronnie Spector passed away on Wed. 12 January 2022, she was 78. What a God given voice she had...
RIP RONNIE
Ela tinha uma presença de pouco extraordinária, além de cantar muito bem, e músicas boas.
Billy Joel recorded this song. Check out his version. Both artists did a good job. 🎵
🐻💐🙂

CGI? You're an idiot.
Fly Beep Phil? They let you have a computer in jail?
CGI wasn't invented in 1977. Just poor quality from a VHS tape probably.
Rest well, Ronnie. Never to be forgotten.
Rest in Peace....WHAT A VOICE!!!
Never to be forgotten RI
P
So influential mutch so much appreciated. and remembered.... Never forgotten.. Ronnie ❤️
We had her for 78 years.Heaven now has her for eternity.RIP Angel of Spanish Harlem😢✌🙏
I am heartbroken. Thank goodness for memories like this. RIP, Ronnie.
Well said Dale!
@@PatrickMcManusNY Thank you, thank you. I suffer from multitexting. Kind of like multitasking but not.
Ronnie Spector, singing Billy Joel, backed by The E-Street Band....doesn't get much better than this...
Ah TOTP's ......just not the same these days !
... with Springsteen in the studio as an "advisor". :)
Billy released it and it didn’t really sell, she did her version and it didn’t really sell both in the late 70s,them Billy released the live version in the early 80s and it became a hit
@@johnvance3011 didn’t know that, thank you
So much talent converging on this, it’s a wonder the set didn’t explode!
I didn't realize Ronnie was so dainty, her voice always takes me back to better times. I wish I could thank her that.
♥️
This.
She was so adorable, talented and mistreated. I am heartbroken that she is gone!
Amazing singer. Ronnie is one of the greats. A legend
Brian Wilson's favourite singer
I forgot Billy Joel wrote this for Ronnie until reminded last night on a TV tribute to her. This is such is such a sweet video & shows she really was a one off. Thank you, Ronnie
The original Queen of rock and roll. RIP Ronnie.
A one of a kind legend. RIP Ronnie.
This should’ve been a big hit for her what a great song. Her voice is just great.
Every time she sang those songs, which must have been thousands of times, you got the feeling it was the first time, and she was singing it just for you. She lit those places up, and all the people as well. What a bright little light.
The way she interacts, with every song she ever sang. She put everything into each song. What an artist. Thanks Ronnie

Wonderful performance!! Distinctive voice, sultry !!!
Rest In Peace Ronnie 💔 I will forever have goosebumps when I hear your voice.
Live to backing track. You go Ronnie, no lip syncing here !!
THAT’S what was wrong… could not put my finger on that mis-matched, over-blown too-loud band sound… it was all wrong for her soulful singing. Thanks for clearing up the mystery!
One of the great voices of Rock and Roll!
Phil Spector destroyed the Ronettes, and deprived us of Ronnie for decades.

Try reading Ronnie Spector’s autobiography. Make your comments then...

His horn section played on it.
Didn't ever see this till tonight reading about her loss. What a gem of a singer.
RIP Ronnie. And thank you for your talent. Brought joy to our world.
What a voice Love her then and now

Goodbye Ronnie, you were one of the best. RIP
Ronnie has one of those voices that men just love.
R.I.P. Ronnie.... this little-known video further cements her girl-group legend.

Ronnie Spector sings Billy Joel's "Say good bye to Hollywood"
What a beautiful lady. We're so blessed to have her music with us forever.
Fabulous voice! Love it!
This clip was from the David Essex show 10th August 1977 (Ronnies birthday 34 at the time}
Just great !!! Finally someone has posted the unedited version of this video !!!
It's hitting me hard right now. RIP Ronnie
Rest peacefully, Ronnie!

You can tell she was just a ball of joy and fun ..shame of those who took advantage of that
Such innocent Sinatra swag and feminine grace Wow. Her breath control was incredible 🔥
Love Ronnie, Always have ,Always will
WOW. !! Never Heard this Version. Really Clearly and Cleanly Highlights the Lyrics of Billy Joel's Smash hit
Ronnie is such a beautiful woman and performer but you can tell she is a hottie from NYC
Love her singing this song.
I’m sure Amy Winehouse had Ronnie on her list of influences.
One of the greatest voices of all time - just like Stevie Nicks
Betty White, Michael Lang, Bob Sagat, Sidney Poitier, Ronnie Spector.
2022 already SUCKS with the loss of these GREAT people! RIP RONNIE!!!
Dear Lord she is so beautiful!
Great God Almighty, was she ever gorgeous. And her angelic voice...
Such a gifted sweet unique voice.

🌹Sensational voice and character, unforgettable. Rest in Heavenly Power Veronica "Ronnie" Spector🕊️
Goodbye Ronnie. Thanks for all the good times.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this. If they just added a glockenspiel, it would have been perfect.
I believe Brian Wilson won't be far behind, now that his eternal muse has gone off to find eternity.
So sad to hear of her passing today, 12 Jan 2022, she was a REAL STAR *****

Lovely voice, style and lady
That sax is a thing of beauty. Two greatly missed talents.
Great voice, great entertainer, loved the camera
What a shame that in the UK Ronnie has been denied the headline tributes that she deserves because of sleeze and misconduct allegations against a prime minister, a prince and an anti-vax tennis player.
I understand why Billy Joel wrote this for her. It's perfect for her and should have been her hit.
RIP you beautiful one...
The late , great RONNIE SPECTOR sings Billy Joel's "Say goodbye to Hollywood"
She was tremendous. Say good bye to Ronnie~
She was so cute..I loved her
Rip Ronnie. Say goodbye to Hollywood, hello 2 heaven

August 10, 1943 -January 12, 2022....we love you Ronnie!!
RIP Ronnie there will never be a voice or personality like yourz

mike lewenson SVZ wanted to be Phil Spector and wanted to recreate that wall of sound using the ESB. Not enough talent to do that.
Stellar ...perfection... Ronnie will live on & on
Greatest singer ever !!!
It's not Christmas until you hear her sing Frosty the Snowman
Ronnie looks and sounds great here.
She was one of my first crushes! RIP
You got it! Wow! One of the real greats. And that wink!!
I have cried many times in the past week. 🥀Rare for an entertainer to stir such emotion. This risiliant, kind, & talented woman did. 💖🎆🎷
I have had exactly the same reaction.
We are SO LUCKY to have born in the same era as Ronnie. We love you!
R.I.P you beautiful angel!
