    I’ve had a precipitation shaft happen to me before! My dad and I were in the garage, fixing my bike. Keep in mind, it was a relatively cloudy day in the middle of summer, and we weren’t getting a lot of rain. However, when our backs were turned to the opening of our garage, we heard a loud sound of wind, and what sounded like rain. I turned my head around first to see a square of rain, move from my dads car on the driveway, to my grass in my front yard, then down the street, almost as if it was driving a car in the rain. It lasted for maybe a minute, but after it stopped, my dad and I went out to see what the hell happened. Yes, everything was actually wet, which we didn’t believe at first, and there was just a random line of water in the middle of the street. It also moved so fast, with a lot of agility and graceful-ness. Weirdest yet coolest thing I think I’ve ever experienced.

      Happened to me once too, when I was about 12. I was in my parents horse pasture and it was partly cloudy and suddenly I saw it begin to rain somewhat in front of me but only within a small area (like maybe 6 ft or so). It wasn't coming down really hard though, more like a soft summer rain. I ran over to it, intrigued, and played around with it, running in and out of it. After a few minutes, it moved out of the pasture and across the road. It was one of weirdest things ever lol.

    The quadruple waterspouts on this video remind me of the three waterspouts I saw while at the beach on vacation. They were lined up, one behind the other. I have never seen a tornado in any form, so I started taking pictures. One of the biggest things that stood out to me was, the waterspouts would disintegrate as soon as it made landfall. It was an amazing sight to see.

    Here in Montreal, weather can be quite dynamic. One winter, some years ago, it was beginning to snow over my neighborhood in Downtown Montreal. (I live in a 20 story tower) We had a precipitation shaft open up, just next to my building, And the cloud opened up and dropped copious amounts of snow on one specific spot, like on the car in this video. You could see the cloud drop from the sky, and then zip open, and made the dump. It lasted for a few minutes. The other dynamic system is the Micro Burst. It stormed one day here in the city, it rained all over, but a micro burst dropped on a park not far from my home, the entire park was destroyed, the century trees were snapped like twigs. The Micro burst fell within the confines of the park, and it devastated the houses fronting the park as well, but no further.

      One of those is what brought down Delta 191 back in '85, though partial blame was placed on the pilots...had they chosen to abort and make another attempt while landing, they would've probably made a successful landing, especially if the weather had cleared up a bit by the time they made another attempt.

    The most powerful known fire whirls were created during allied bombing raids on Germany and Japan in WW2. During operation Gomorrah in July 1943, the ignition of incendiary bombs dropped on Hamburg created a fire whirl 1000 feet high with winds of 150mph that destroyed much of the city killing 19000 people, most of whom were in air raid shelters as the fire whirl sucked out all of the oxygen and flooded them with carbon monoxide. Hundreds of people were also seen being sucked into the vortex and immediately incinerated.

    The two ef4 tornadoes that happened in Nebraska weren't multi vortex. Those are two tornadoes that came from the same supercell. A multi vortex tornado is when the tornado is like halfway to 3/4 of the way down and little vortices start spinning up on the ground like the Katiewoods tornado or like El Reno when the meso got pretty low to the ground and started putting out multiple vortices after vortices until they combine to make one big tornado.

The twins were two entirely separate and nearly identical EF4 tornadoes. If you want to see what a multiple vortex tornado looks like then look up footage of the El Reno tornado from 2013.

    The Pilger storm wasn't a multi-vortex tornado. It was 2 totally separate tornadoes spawned from the same supercell system. Multi-vortex refers to smaller subvortices (mini-vortexes) rotating around or within the main vortex/parent circulation, and typically occur at the beginning of the initial touchdown. Not to be nitpicky, but that distinction should be made, as these 2 were fairly large and a good distance apart. Go watch the very beginning of the record breaking 2.6 mile wide El Reno tornado, as there aren't many better examples of multi-vortex than that...

    • @futureofgeography
      @futureofgeography 3 місяці тому

      Wrong, all tornadoes are multi-vortex, multi-vortex tornadoes are just tornadoes where these subvortices separate because the tornado is just so large and violent, they are always there

    I was recently on a cruise. We had just came from the Bahamas and we had arrived at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. My mom and I were on the beach when I heard thunder and mentioned it to her. She came back from taking pictures in the ocean, sat down, and saw lighting. That was our cue to go back on the ship. We arrive back at the ship about 5 minutes later and we go to sit on the deck. The doors open and the pools are being closed as we sit and relax due to it being very cloudy but still warm. As we are sitting and I’m eating my ice cream. My mom points out the water spout she sees alongside the rain right by it. All of a sudden I see 3 other water spouts and they are coming our way. It was absolutely crazy seeing the rain come by way. I have pictures and videos. The temperature dropped and it got extremely windy. The ship was drenched in rain and we had stayed in our room the duration of the day due to how much rain was being picked up by the spout that was closest to us.

    I have been so lucky to see a nimbus cloud form in a middle of warm summer day and spread a line og thick snow like painting a traffic line over long string of area. It was so cool to see the cloud pop out of nowhere and paint this white line and disappear. The snow melted within 10 minutes. This is one of the times in my life I have regret not having a recorder. But most of the time I am glad this was my experience and not a media food.

    #4 is not an example of a multi vortex tornado. Multi vortex means small vortices rotating within the main funnel. What's seen here is the rare phenomenon of two separate, mature funnels from the same parent supercell at the same time.

    • @futureofgeography
      @futureofgeography 3 місяці тому

      Wrong, there is no main funnel in multi-vortex tornadoes, the subvortices are the main funnel, a multi-vortex tornado is just a tornado where these subvortices move away from each other because the tornado is so big and violent

    One thing I thought was quite rare was in some parts of Queensland they had around 675 MM of rain in 12 hours. That is the average yearly rainfall for my area of Victoria, some of that heavy rain has even come down to victoria, it is the remnant of Tropical Cyclone Seth.

    What causes those ice crystals above that cloud to dance around in jerky fashion like that is thought to be lightning within the cloud changing the polarity of the surrounding air. It causes the crystals to "re-align" when the bolt releases the pent up charges.

    • @MsCDante
      @MsCDante 3 роки тому +5

      And they can definitely move from water to land. Seen a few do that on video shocking a lot of people who didn't take it serious.

    • @camdenbartelt9229
      @camdenbartelt9229 Рік тому

      That's partially due to poor defining of things such as waterspouts vs tornadoes
      Waterspouts are generally referring to fair weather waterspouts, which are quite weak, especially when compared to a tornado. They form in the same process as snow whirls, fire whirls, and dust devils
      However, a tornado that forms over water is also referred to as a waterspout, but it holds much much more capability

    • @camdenbartelt9229
      @camdenbartelt9229 Рік тому

      That's because fair weather waterspouts are identical in nature to dust devils

    I moved to Merritt Island Fl in 92. My first shock was watching THREE water spouts drop one after another in front of me. It seemed to me they they started in mid air, and man you could see the water spinning at the bottom of them. Also here in Brevard County Fl we have had MANY water spouts hit land and hold it together. Going from water spout to tornado.

In Norway tornado is very rare, seeing 3 of them at same time is like seeing a mountain size asteroid land in Norway, it just don't happens. People don't really believe me it was 2 thin ones and the closest were big. I wasn't the only witness that day, but I were 1/3 people who saw all 3. (edit, it is many years ago now)

    Precipitation shaft happened to me when i was little lol
    My mom and i walked out of a pizza shop and i noticed it was raining (fairly light, but noticeable enough to see the drops). But then when we walked into the parking lot, there was no rain (and it was raining only right in front of the store’s awning. Completely dry to the left and right as well). So my mom and I were just dumbfounded lol
    I remember her saying it reminded her of the rainclouds in cartoons
    Weird thing abt my experience was that it was sunny everywhere else 😳
