The Nice Guys was so good that it should have became a tv series, their chemistry was amazing The Northman is a masterpiece and should have made way more money
Nobody is going to the Cinemas anymore. Everyone's realised it's cheaper to wait a few months before the movie releases to a platform where they can watch it from the comfort of their own home for a fraction of the cost. $25/person for movie tickets and food/drinks (a short family outing to the movies quickly racks up over $100) < $10/month for a platform subscription. Cinema is a dying culture.
A lot of these have been talked about a bit, thankfully. We're glad to see so much Nice Guys chatter. So many movies have been bombing at the box office, it makes me feel like I've seen a lot of hidden gems in theaters from the last few years.
The Master was brilliant on so many levels. Joaquin Phoenix’ won critics polls for best performance of the decade. From a wholly original screenplay that blows cultism out of the water to the cinematography and Jonny Greenwood’s score to an ensemble including Amy Adams, Rami Malik, Jesse Plemons, Laura Dern and of course Philip Seymour Hoffman this film was a remarkable achievement.
It's an amazing film. It's crazy when you see the box office for Oppenheimer but a decade prior this movie basically bombed. I guess people only went to see mcu movies up until recently
Spontaneous Combustion was one of those rare gems I grew up watching again and again as a kid on DVD - it's sad how Tobe Hooper's career as a horror filmmaker went downhill after his three-picture deal with Cannon Films in the 80's. RIP Tobe Hooper 😢
A movie can be "brilliant" which doesn't mean I want to see it again. Most of the films listed are just not that interesting. Northman followed seasons of Vikings from tv so it brought nothing new nor better to the screen.
I think you have a good point there. If a bad film does poorly, it isn’t typically called a flop - it’s called “reaping what you sow” or “getting what you deserve” or “an efficient market” or even “yeah… that sounds about right.”
@@BooksForever nope, some flops are just that - flops, they don’t grow a cult following & gain respect…so saying “all flops are underrated that’s why they flop” is an oxymoron…. The thing flopped not because it was underrated it was simply ahead of its time! So metric measure of flopped movies at the box office is not an accurate measure of quality & future cult following…many movies have massive box office like captain marvel, but are intrinsically regarded as bad films with zero longevity & cult following! The thing now is regarded as a classic true masterpiece of horror….blade runner has influenced every sci fi film since then! They are not regarded as flops & underrated now at all! 🤯🤯🤯
Nice Guys and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang we're both excellent movies. I'm Kiss Kiss, Val Kilmer plays a detective who is gay but not a ridiculous stereotype. He's just a guy and not the sassy best friend.
This movies look pretty good. Man of Thai Chi and Annihilation look pretty good. Master looks interesting. Ali looks like fantastic movie. Really bad marketing decisions. Commercial very poor. They didn't know how to promote their movies. Shame. They look pretty good.
First up! The Nice Guys was Boring! 2nd Annihilation was a Netflix movie so there was no boxffice 3rd the Northman I turned off after 15 min & The Master SUCKED!!!!!! TOP 5 Worst movie's I've ever seen!!!!!!
Gattaca is a brilliant film! I don't know if it flopped at the box office or not, but I do think it is far too underrated for how fantastic a film it is.
So what you are saying is you bought up every o e of these cars you could find, created a FOMO situation and drove up the value because you own a significant portion? Whats the difference between you and all those scalpers who went and bought up all the PS5s and then ranted and raved about their performance while hockin them at a 100% mark-up? 0/10 I have no interest in hearing anything else this guy has to say. Bring the Stig back or even Nolan Sykes. THATS the content we want.
Maximum overdrive is a favorite of mine, maybe a guilty pleasure. Was aware that it was a Stephen King story... but I guess I was too young to pay attention to the directorial credits.
the nice guys kicked ass! it really needs to be seen on the big screen. kiss kiss bang bang was awesome too.
The Nice Guys was so good that it should have became a tv series, their chemistry was amazing
The Northman is a masterpiece and should have made way more money
Annihilation is criminally underrated.
One of my favorite box office flops was 1998’s “Dark City”. A twisted and stylish sci-fi horror movie, it earned less than $15 million domestically.
I liked it so much I went to see it twice at the cinema the soundtrack was awesome.
I call it the Matrix with brains.
Right now, in this year, we have tons of box-office bombs that are more interesting than most of blockbusters that actually managed to succeed
and what are those

* Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Totally agree

@@j_edwards6075 if it dies this way, there will be nothing to be released digitally
Great List and Great Video.
Thanks 😀
The Nice Guys is an excellent film.
Why do they only mention domestic box office when it's all about the world wide box office

My favourite PTA film. Repeat viewings essential.

The Northman was a great film... Eggers' films are for sure not for everyone. I like em all, a shame that it flopped.
Completely agree nice guys was hilarious and the northmen was awesome way better than I expected
i see ryan gosling i click
Big fax
Thanks👍🏼
Maximum Overdrive is a really fun movie to watch. I think it’s so bad it’s good.
Dredd
A little trivia regarding Maximum Overdrive the movie. It costars the actress who voices Lisa Simpson, Yeardley Smith
1:00 “only brought in 36 million..” only is not the proper term. What I could do with “only “36 million is help a lot of people…
The nice guys was freaking hilarious😂😂
Nice movie
Ryan Gosling's carries movies with his comedic timing. Barbie is coming. Before it hits the theater rewatch The Nice Guys and Crazy Stupid Love.
A movie can be "brilliant" which doesn't mean I want to see it again. Most of the films listed are just not that interesting. Northman followed seasons of Vikings from tv so it brought nothing new nor better to the screen.
There's always Tubi and PlutoTV for secondary market
I love Maximum Overdrive 🤟 AC/DC 🎉🎉🎉
I went to the Northman at my local cinéma. Great movie but they should have toned down the violence. It was to disturbing.
all flops are underrated that why they flop

Staaaaappppp 🤣🤣🤣
Nope, blade runner and the thing were box office flops! Your argument is moot!! 🤯🤯🤯
@@hanniffydinn6019 - your examples suggest that you’ve misunderstood the original point. The movies you’ve mentioned were both initially underrated.

Annihilation was some fucked up shit. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck me, that bear scene.
The nice guys was fantastic
Nice guys is trully hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I saw the movie Arli and it's a must watch movie. I am a big fan of the boxer and this movie was great.

Man of Tai Chi had cool action but the story and his villain performance were both terrible.
i disagree. Maximum overdrive is literally the best movie ever made next to Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.
and then there smokey and the bandit
Not adding Bladerunner 2049 is surely a crime
I don't think you understand the words you are using.
History treated most of these correctly.
Ali stunk. Sorry. But annihilation was worth seeing for sure.
First
The Northman was the worst movie I’d seen in many many years. My buddies thought the same thing!!
You out of your mind 🤣🤦♂️
1995's "Waterworld" should be on this list too - it is a perfectly watchable sci-fi cult classic that deserves reappraisal.
The Predator was not under-rated
Shouldn't Man of Steel be in the list?🤔
No
Well it wasn't flop
‘The Flash’ should join this list
