Thanks old man. Since I will turn 80 in a couple months, I figured I should learn this song before arthritis kills my hands. I had worked out the basic structure, but you've opened all the finesse that makes it a great song. I appreciate too your explanations of Fogerty the man. You're a good teacher. Subscribed.
Old Man Down The Road! Cool tune, I remember hearing it on radio in 1987 while fishing with my dad a brother out of his speedboat. Thwy have both passed away now. But man, also heard Whitesnake Here I Go Again that same day. 2 new tunes.. Tunes that take me back.. Excellent lesson. Thank you again Marty.
Thx Marty, This song brings back so many memories, Old Man Down the Road. Would be helping some friends set up for a gig in the mid 80's at a bar. This is one of the songs that was always playing at the time. The other songs come to mind, Money for Nothing, We Built this City...
87 was a killer year for music, Def Leppards Hysteria record, Poison Open Up and Say Ah, Fogarty, Whitesnake. Nothing like that happening today. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Funny thing, the remaining members of ccr sued John for these songs sounding too much like CCR, he wrote them songs. The old man down the road video had the camera follow a guitar cable for miles that ended up at John's guitar playing the solo.
I love Johns riffs and licks, just awesome. Ans what a song writer and voice ! Stunning, so many bands copied his style, including KOL, Nirvana. Damn, wven Tinas biggest hit was Proud Mary, written by John, not Ike!!!! Great content and lovely coverage of this classic ❤
Great lessons, always appreciate your videos, would you ever consider doing a lesson for Duke Jupiter / I’ll drink to you. Great song from early 80’s . Great rockin song. Thanks. Early Happy New Year.🎉🎉🎉🤘🤘🤘
Marty can you help me by making a video covering a complete set up for a stratocaster to floating vibrato/whammy bar? Just got one for Christmas and it is my first non hardtail guitar. As you can guess not only have a I seen 10 methods on other videos none have been succesful. It came with the claw maxed out and the bar so stiff you couldn't get it to barely move. I got it to where it should be playable from another video but now I got buzz on E and A (it may need a new nut), but I feel like its floating higher than it should be. The tail end of the bridge is way off the face of the guitar by almost a 1/4 inch. Also I have a question since this guitar has a 9.5 to 14 radius fretboard. Do I set the bridge up to match 9.5 or 14 or do I go somewhere in between? Thanks for any help!
Really enjoyed this one Marty... You should do "Run Through the Jungle" since he got sued for copying his own song, for a comparison. That would be an interesting idea for you, songs comparisons for copyright infringement: ex. Stairway/Taurus My Sweet Lord/ He's so fine...
@@aaronjamesparker9007 Nicely done - you have a way better ear than I do. And as I look at your page, I see you are a way better guitar player than I am too.
@@Ranch5150SkinWalkerHere's from another one Marty. On third note, bend the A all the way up to B on the G string. I tried plucking the A sharp on top of the note he bends up to and it's definitely a half step flat.

Taking me back to my high school daze brother. Excellent tunes. From the best teacher , great way to kick off a Saturday. Thanx man
Thanks so much dude! Nothing like a great musical journey to the past! Great times.
Thanks so much I've been playing this riff but not right now I've got it thanks Paul

Great memories man! I love how the music we love is so closely associated with our life experiences. 😎🤟🏻
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker Yes sir, like a time machine for me brother. 😎👍🏻
Always liked CCR. Then, after their break up, I listened to John. He was the main one in the CCR group.

Totally cool vibes man. I'm working on a money for nothing lesson! 😎🤟🏻

@@muleblues71 I remember that! 😎👍🏻
Thanks for the lesson. These are so fun to play.
My pleasure!
love your fogerty sound! thanks for the lesson!!!
Thanks! 🙏
Great music! Remember when this was released and I instantely liked it!
Great lesson Marty ! I saw a concert of Fogerty on TV awhile back. I always loved his solo stuff and ccr, His playing blew me away on that show
He's really quite a player!

Nice, thanks, Marty 😊

Great songs, I've learned a lot of CCR, but never really spent time on Fogertys solo tunes. I appreciate you being a good teacher.
Another top video. Great way to end the year!
Awesome! Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thanks Marty! Cool tune, i used to mess around with it when it was new. The tone and verb are spot on. Happy almost New Year!
I got the Willie and the poor boys album when I was a kid, one of my first albums.. love it Marty. Happy New Year!.
Excellent lesson, CCR and John fogerty have some great music. Thank you Marty 🤘 and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉

Surprised you dug CCR/J Fogerty . Great Rock band ! Ramble Tamble / Born on the Bayou my favorite
They have great music. And Fogerty sings his ass off! 😎🤟🏻
Would you try doing the overdub parts yourself or is it better to have another guitarist do them?
I think John Fogerty is just about the only guy who made those Kustom Tuck and Roll amps sound good.
The Grateful Dead and Mike Cambell had some moderate success with them
Danger! Danger ! Keep that cat away from the speaker grill cloth. cat is getting awfully chummy with that lower cabinet. 😳 Great lesson by the way.
Ummmm there is a Bb in the old man riff ???
There is, but for some reason I don't really miss it during his play of it...
@@Terminus_El_Camino I heard it straight away 🤷🏻♂️

You're missing a note or it's because you're playing a fender. Or it's because I'm hearing the bass.
Close man, but on old man after the 5th note E he walks down Asharp A G to E, Not A G E to E. Cheers.
Cool. I bend the g to an a sharp and then release to g vs walk chromatically. Sounds more musical. 😎🍺
@@Ranch5150SkinWalkerthere's always that one Marty😉

Definitely A# not B on the way down
You're 40 years to late:)
Story of my life 😂😂
