One of the things I always liked about Billy's playing, is the way it seems so effortless. You never see him straining. It's just smooth as glass. Cool as a frosty mug.
I've been a disciple of Reverend Willy for a LONG time, really enjoyed this one. When I play this one at family's and friend's houses, I use a Plexi model in my small travel amp. when I play it at home, I floor my 120 watt tube amp and the neighborhood gets to hear it! I also use my 1950s spec Gibson Les Paul Standard ... Thanks for all you do! Rock On🎸🤟🎸
Marty. Clearly you are a great player, but two things really set your channel apart (for me anyway). An ability to teach, and an abundance of humility. Keep it coming.
Excellent lesson Marty! Very cool of you to show your Tonex settings, and how cool is Pro Tools... Your guitar Peaches knows how to sing! ZZ Top and Billy Gibbons, wow... 😮🎸
Awesome lesson Marty! Everything but mastering that solo is under my fingers. I love your channel and all the lessons you do. I can’t keep up man. Thanks.
awesome.....I've been wanting to learn this iconic song. nice R8 ! wish I could focus on learning these licks but in my mind..your voice keeps drifting away as I become mesmerized by that beautiful R8.....gorgeous !
Thanks again for another great lesson. I'm glad that I had the pleasure of watching Billy and ZZ top when i was 18 in Dublin. By the way my favourite Les Paul of yours is the burgundy coloured custom ❤
@Ranch5150SkinWalker RDS in Dublin 1985 and the back up band was the Kinks. How did you not see them before? I would love to live where you are, and be able to go out and see so many live bands every night 😀
great video man, but you missed one of the most common billy parts...the squills...the pinch harmonics...super important to learn when you are playing almost any zz tune. But i do love the video and great info to have in the bag. Thank you sir.
I was quite shocked to see the ToneX on your board. I thought you were a tube amp purest 😉 I must admit the ToneX didn’t do it for me. I have a Kemper head (toaster) instead and have never been happier. No more blown tubes…
I still use tube amps live unless I'm playing at church or at a corporate even, then I use my fractal. I use the fractal and the tone X for UA-cam content because it is so consistent and easy to produce with. Recently I have partnered with IK Media and they have been Working with me and providing models and updates for the tone X so I can demonstrate it to my viewers.
I gotta correct you on something. He doesn’t alternate the thumb and finger on that alternating G-Bb lick. He picks the G sliding into it and lets it ring then with his middle finger plucks the Bb and mutes it, allowing the G to continue ringing and plucks the Bb again, mute, pluck
So fitting for the channel. Billy was such an influence on VH and even Pantera.

I love that about his playing too. Hess a super cool cat 🐱
Billy Gibbons is a Genius at guitar. 😊😊. Prince said he was one of the best he's ever seen. ❤️🙏💯. Thanks buddy for sharing 👍✌️✌️🎸🎸

Great lesson with all the nuances that are often missed!
Love your lessons... peace!
58 is my favorite Neck! A little fatter! That's the way I play it too! I've seen lots of guys playing it differently? Thanks Marty 🤘 😊
You're welcome. I love the 58 neck too!!

You're welcome! Sadly I have never seen them live! I'm not sure how this has happened.

My pinch harmonics and pick slides still suck.
I’m going to have to really put some time in there.

Righteous………😊😊
In first minute and hoping you talk about the lead key change and why does that work so good
Do you have a video of and the cradle will rock from Van Halen ?
*Great tutorial !!! Forgive me for asking, but can you tell me which picups you have over there in your LP ? Thank you in advance !*

The title of this video is so nostalgic lol
