I don't think relying on Mega Evolutions to shake up the starters fits with the Legends gameplay, at least unless they change the system to fit better. Mega Evolution has, up to this point, been strictly a combat mechanic, and so when letting your starter out on the overworld it would look exactly the same as it did back in Gen 6. This isn't to mention the way fights were set up in Legends: Arceus, where the large majority of them were brief encounters with wild Pokémon, with major fights few and far between, so you'd rarely ever get to see them. As previously mentioned, changing how Mega Evolution works could remedy this, but as it stands now, I'd much prefer regional forms, or even new evolutions to signify how they've evolved alongside a now futuristic world (if that does end up being the time period of the game)
Something to keep in mind though is that if ZA does the whole "back in time" thing like Legends Arceus, France was still a nation that wasn't that isolated. Japan however for most of it's history has been, and going back the same amount then that potentially means we're looking at the Frankish Kingdom. Potentially that means more villages to go to, more trainers, and maybe some sort of proto Pokemon League perhaps? Clearly not 1-to-1 but something that would fit within a European region moreso than one on Japan. Course this is all spitball from some internet rando so take it all for what it is, speculation. Edit: That could also be an explanation for non reagional starters. It was well after the viking age started so it could be explained by them being brought by traders, especially given how the Kingdom of Normandy took over the throne of England (or Galar in universe). I'd LOVE to see megas of the three Kalosian starters! I'd obviously hope for it to happen either way, whether they're the main starters or not, but if they aren't then I still hope they're available like the Sinnoh starters were in Legends Arceus!

I almost wish Gamefreak give us alternate starters AND Kalos starters mega evos. Kalos was the 2nd Gen I skipped (after the 4th one), so I don't have nostalgia for it. Remember, X and Y had you choose between the Kalos starters and the original Kanto starters. So it's possible that both the Kalos starters and a mixed and matched set could be featured.
I honestly believe when it comes to mega, if there is anything with the past that we get to be in, I believe we will personally have to find the specific mega stones and mine then ourselves.
Question: What is stopping most starters from being foreign to their "home" region. If you play red and blue you find that Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur cannot be caught in the wild in their own region. However, in some later generations, they are available in the wild (therefore numerously). Why would they be more populous in some regions that are not even their home region? Are they native to one of these other regions? It's crazy to think that the Kantonian starters may not even be truly Kantonian Pokemon at all. At that point who even knows what Pokemon are native and which ones are invasive species. Your starters are either Pokemon endangered but only within their own home region OR actually invasive species.
I still cant believe that its a pokemon Z game like kalos was such a naked region in terms of story amongst other things and now it will be clothed finally COMEPLETE
I just now noticed that the type triangle goes the same direction for both types of the _Legends Arceus_ starters. Fighting < Ghost < Dark < Fighting. Almost. Ghost isn’t SE against Fighting. Your selections of Steel, Electric, and Fairy are close to an inverted triangle, but it actually puts Empoleon at a disadvantage, since it’s still weak to Serperior’s Grass, but unlike Serperior’s Steel vs Cinderace’s Fairy, Empoleon has nothing to hit Serperior with for SA damage. This has the function of making Serperior the objectively best starter for type effectiveness. I do love Cinderace with the light wheels though.
I honestly think we’re gonna be getting off for the kanto starters and whatever other starters, they will get me evolutions. This is the generation where we almost immediately got access to six different starters and regional forms makes sense for anyone who already has a mega evolution.
Those regional variants are so cool, you turned the future paradox style actually good. Also the reasoning of using the frenchiest trio with the future theme makes a lot of sense.
calling it now, its likely that totodile, grookey and litten from process of elimination and popularity will be used. i eliminated them using: does it already have a mega? is it already too popular? no paldean starters, etc. i feel like atleast one of them will be used but idk feel free to call me an idiot when the games release and im totally wrong granted i haven't watched basically any of this video yet edit: also totodile hasn't gotten much attention but is pretty well liked, grookey is pretty hated on, they could definitely change it, and litten, well you already know what incinaroars issue was, yeah? edit: eh yeah, it feels like snivy, piplup, and scorbunny are pretty likely too.
My subspition on legends za is that we will travel to the past or have cutseanes to the past and the future and get to have portals to those time periods, also it might influence the future
@@supershoutmonx8327 In my opinion, I think that the hologram that the Pikachu runs through is to represent modern day Lumiose, hence why there would be a phone, but it really is still too early to tell
@@supershoutmonx8327that’s a holographic version of a future kalos at the end of shows the planned redevelopment on paper so it’s more than likely they are gonna make it the lumiose we see in x and y
I believe Z-A is in the past, the reason it looks futuristic is because it looks like a blueprint, there might be a phone in 1800 pokemon because pokemon tech might be advanced
I actually had my own kalos starter megas thought up for fun and I went with evolving their DND traits, turning them from a basic Fighter/Mage/Rogue trio into a Paladin, a Sorcerer/Warlock/Whatever I can't remember the differences, and a Ninja Master, Chestnaught would be able to grow all kinds of paladin-y weapons like lances, hammers and big shields from each of its arms, Delphox would get a big long tree branch staff that doubles as a witches broom, and for Greninja I decided to be cheeky and tie the Ash Greninja form into its mega, even giving it lore in a pokedex entry detailing a legend that if a Greninja and its trainers bond is at its peak, they can achieve this form without the need of a mega stone
It might also be best to keep in form to perhaps choose the starter pokemon that also do not have a new form; since the Galar trio already have a mode change when their G-MAXs, it might be best to single them out too. PLUS, if we take into account how Legends Arceus proceeded things, it's likely we'll have to assume that all Pokemon (both Kalos & non-regionals + Megas) that appeared in the XY Pokedex will appear in Z-A; just like how Legends Arceus did with all pokemon that were available in Diamond, Pearl, & Platinum; plus a Few extra additions like the region variants or branch evos
Legends: Arceus had Variants + Catchable Gen 4 Depending on how many Pokémon will be in Legends: Z-A, we might get 3 sets of Starters minimum! XY featured Kalos’s trio, AND Kanto’s trio were Given as well. If EVERY Mega is back, that might include Hoenn’s trio as well. (Not including M Rayquaza, P Groudon, P Kyogre, M Latias or M Latios) What this means *potentially* Mixed Trio (“Legends”): Snivy (Grass/Poison) Scorbunny (Fire/Steel? /Electric? /Ground?) Piplup (Water/Ice? Water/Flying?) Kanto Trio (Obtainable) Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle Hoenn Trio (Obtainable) Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip Kalos Trio (Obtainable) Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie* **Battle Bond Starters//Greninja ≠ “Mega” Kalos//Greninja???**
I think that the starters will be Piplup, Snivy and Torchic since they were seen next to the legends starters in the scarlet and violet indigo disc trailer. I don't know if they will all get new megas or forms but that's just what I think.
That doesn’t mean anything they showed the starters like that bc that’s showing what starters could be found in that area but do think it’ll be snivy piplup but not torchic if they plan on giving megas
Glad to see someone else thinking Legends could just be heavily involving the title Legendary rather than being in the past. Those are some great designs for "evolving" Starters, my initial thought of having a Chaos Pokemon who can cause rapid evolution in Pokemon, the source not only of Mega Evolution but also the Paradox Pokemon. This gives reasoning for why we have 2 that look like thier Megas and an explanation for why the beasts have paradoxes, being altered to suit a harsh tropical environment awakened similar traits that Ho-oh did.
BDSP releasing close to Legends: Arceus being the reasoning for the alternate starters is why I think it's very possible we might get Kalos starters for Legends: ZA, but with mega evolutions this time. Glad to see someone else thinks the same! I love your mega designs, Chesnaught and Greninja have rather busy designs but you managed to make them work even with more details.
i’ve been saying this a lot but i’m pretty confident we’ll get those starters or most of them as our first 3, and the kalosian starters right after with megas, like how in x and y we got starters then kanto starters with megas
i think what they might do is give us new regional forms of the Kalos starters but also give us the mega evolution factor so your ideas might just be thrown in a combination of what could possibly happen
Maybe instead of Kanto starters as the second starters we get Galar starters? I really honestly want Sobble…. Inteleon being the Secret Agent Pokemon and some James Bond movies were in France does hold some logic…
My idea for an Alola Region Legends game is called Pokemon Legends Dimensional. It take place mainly in Akala Island with the labratory. Basically it takes place in the future, so after champions league. Where you go and stop Ultra Beasts. I dont have many predictions, but i feel like the starters could be, Grookey, Squirtle, Torchic. All kinda represent parts of the alola region. Grookey represents the grass and the music. Squirtle represents the Beaches around alola and the water in the fact that alola is made of 4 (5 if you count aether paradise) islands, and Torchic represents the Festivals inside of Alola.
Or maybe like in original X & Y, you actually get two starters (one gen 6 & one gen 1)- so maybe you get two in this game as well, including the original Kalos starters now with megas?
But what if they do like X and Y, and we get TWO pack of starter. The one from Kalos with a new mega evolution and the one from other regions with a new regional form?
Ok, so X/Y did a thing where you get your starter, then you get a second starter later from the Kanto starters who had a mega (or two if you're someone's favorite) I'd love them to play it like you get your cool set of mixed up starters with a new final evo and then a second starter from Kalos with a new mega
Your options sound amazing!❤ But i think it would be cool if we would get a new form of Meganium or (like you said) serperior since we haven't seen them much in newer games, and i think they could give them cool mega evolution, especially Meganium🦕
I feel like the game will be set in the past, though I can see the Gen 6 starters getting Mega Evolutions. As for the main starters, I can see Serperior being Grass/Ghost with a ragged look compared to its Unovan counterpart, referencing deposed royalty with the French Revolution of 1812, Cinderace being Fire/Fighting with martial arts gear based on savate (French kickboxing), and Empoleon being Water/Psychic (this one is a stretch, but I'm stumped for what to have it based on, so suggestions are appreciated).
Honestly I kinda hope they take a why not both approach. New starters with regional forms but no megas, but the Kalos starters and their megas can be obtained in the wild. I just love the new starters old region thing and hope they keep it even if it isn't neccecary
Your on the right track but the legends starters where selected from Pokémon starters that weren’t available on switch like rowlet there was no way of catching one at the time and cyndiquil was from a game with no origins nor remakes on the switch and same with oshawatt so remake the list without gen 1,4,8,9 and any other gen I forgot to mention Revise: fire Water Grass Torch Mud Triko Pig. Toto. Snivy Litten. Popli. Chikor
I hope if one of my favourites are the starter, they don’t end up being disappointing or worse like my favourite starter of all time did in Hisui (Decidueye).
I like the idea of serperior cinderace and empoleon, but i still hope for a regional torterra referencing the tarasque monster, just because torterra is my favourite pokemon. I also thought about exploring the sewers of the region, with crocs pokemon like sandile or feraligatr becoming poison types, that would be cool
I want to put it out there. Is win they did a remake or one name Mina omega, ruby and alpha sapphire, and they gave the other two starters mega forms in that game. People were hoping that all starters forget, make up forms at some point, because the gimmick was kind of knew some people thought it would be something in the last for a few games. So I don’t think we should fully rule out old starter. I think it’s mega evolution is coming back, opens up the door for possibility for the other starters distill get mega forms so the sales center quail is not a possibility instead of getting new regional forms, they could actually beginning mega forms.
You mentioned some favorites and Kalos starters as candidates which I'd be down for... But another route I'd like to see would be a group of underrated mons like Chikorita, Tepig, and Sobble. Plus with them not having any French ties, it could really play to the idea that the starters aren't native to Kalos. Although in any case I don't think we're getting regional forms. Even if we go back to the 1800s there's not enough of a time gap to justify regional variants. Plus with Mega being hyped, it seems the more obvious route to go and I don't see see the starters getting both a regional and mega forms. That'd be overkill.
It would be cool if the Gen 6 starters get a mega, and if later-Gen Pokemon in general got a mega. With how many Gen 1 and 3 megas already exist, it would be a bit of a shame if they prioritized the earlier gens for megas again.
I think that’s why they call those starters from that region one of a kind as they aren’t findable in that region
I hope popplio does come
You forgot not
Mega Delphox would be a very good reason to pick Fennekin ngl
I still cant believe that its a pokemon Z game like kalos was such a naked region in terms of story amongst other things and now it will be clothed finally COMEPLETE
Yeah kalos was the most needing of a legends game
your presentation skills are impeccable, always a pleasure to watch!
I completely agree with that!
Also Love the Ciderace!
IDc if cinderace design is horrible I just love scorbunny and will choose it any day as a starter choice
I literally cheered the moment you told off Ash Greninja. 🤣
Dang, had us in the first half ngl
all the kalos music in the background of the video is giving me so much nostalgia as it was my first pokemon game
Just commenting to let you know that your Pokémon illustrations are absolutely adorable
I hope there are non gen 6 starters that get regional forms and you can find the gen 6 starters and they get megas
When I'm bored I start humming the music of your videos!
calling it now, its likely that totodile, grookey and litten from process of elimination and popularity will be used.
i eliminated them using: does it already have a mega? is it already too popular? no paldean starters, etc.
i feel like atleast one of them will be used but idk feel free to call me an idiot when the games release and im totally wrong
granted i haven't watched basically any of this video yet
edit: also totodile hasn't gotten much attention but is pretty well liked, grookey is pretty hated on, they could definitely change it, and litten, well you already know what incinaroars issue was, yeah?
edit: eh yeah, it feels like snivy, piplup, and scorbunny are pretty likely too.
I think the logo as well points to it being at least modern times but most likely in the future
My subspition on legends za is that we will travel to the past or have cutseanes to the past and the future and get to have portals to those time periods, also it might influence the future
Interesting take! I honestly can't tell if this is game is gonna set in the past or future, either way, I hope its good!
Probably in the future because he pointed out the phone
@@supershoutmonx8327 In my opinion, I think that the hologram that the Pikachu runs through is to represent modern day Lumiose, hence why there would be a phone, but it really is still too early to tell
@@TotallyNotTheQueen Fair
probably in the past since it was hinted that its based off of the redevelopment program that happened in france back in the 1800s!!
“The answer is that we dont” made laugh and im not sure why lol
I love these starters! They're going to be on a Pokémon Legends Z-A trailer.
The starter final forms made me smile. Thank you.
I love your take that doesn't just involve past Serperior, Empoleon and Cinderace👍
My first Pokémon game was X and Y on my mom’s old DS, so I’m very exited!
Legends: Arceus had Variants + Catchable Gen 4
Depending on how many Pokémon will be in Legends: Z-A, we might get 3 sets of Starters minimum!
XY featured Kalos’s trio, AND Kanto’s trio were Given as well.
If EVERY Mega is back, that might include Hoenn’s trio as well.
(Not including M Rayquaza, P Groudon, P Kyogre, M Latias or M Latios)
What this means *potentially*
Mixed Trio (“Legends”):
Snivy (Grass/Poison)
Scorbunny (Fire/Steel? /Electric? /Ground?)
Piplup (Water/Ice? Water/Flying?)
Kanto Trio (Obtainable)
Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle
Hoenn Trio (Obtainable)
Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip
Kalos Trio (Obtainable)
Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie*
**Battle Bond Starters//Greninja ≠ “Mega” Kalos//Greninja???**
I think that the new starters will get new Forms and the og starters will get megas
I think that the starters will be Piplup, Snivy and Torchic since they were seen next to the legends starters in the scarlet and violet indigo disc trailer. I don't know if they will all get new megas or forms but that's just what I think.
I would like to also hear your opinions as well
That doesn’t mean anything they showed the starters like that bc that’s showing what starters could be found in that area but do think it’ll be snivy piplup but not torchic if they plan on giving megas
This gives reasoning for why we have 2 that look like thier Megas and an explanation for why the beasts have paradoxes, being altered to suit a harsh tropical environment awakened similar traits that Ho-oh did.
that mega delphox design is absolutely tremendous and if anything like it is in Z-A I'm most definitely calling it Marisa
10:31 'Get that hairy frog outta here'😂
BDSP releasing close to Legends: Arceus being the reasoning for the alternate starters is why I think it's very possible we might get Kalos starters for Legends: ZA, but with mega evolutions this time. Glad to see someone else thinks the same! I love your mega designs, Chesnaught and Greninja have rather busy designs but you managed to make them work even with more details.
They wouldn’t have the main starters be the same ones from the original version of the game (x and y)
I think since empoleon was based on daft punk, his blades should look more like disks
Ah yes P E R F E C T I O N
i’ve been saying this a lot but i’m pretty confident we’ll get those starters or most of them as our first 3, and the kalosian starters right after with megas, like how in x and y we got starters then kanto starters with megas
i think what they might do is give us new regional forms of the Kalos starters but also give us the mega evolution factor so your ideas might just be thrown in a combination of what could possibly happen
Gen 6 allowed us to grt 2 stsrters, so maybe we can get both the Legends starters and XY starters too
Maybe instead of Kanto starters as the second starters we get Galar starters? I really honestly want Sobble…. Inteleon being the Secret Agent Pokemon and some James Bond movies were in France does hold some logic…
My idea for an Alola Region Legends game is called Pokemon Legends Dimensional. It take place mainly in Akala Island with the labratory. Basically it takes place in the future, so after champions league. Where you go and stop Ultra Beasts. I dont have many predictions, but i feel like the starters could be, Grookey, Squirtle, Torchic. All kinda represent parts of the alola region. Grookey represents the grass and the music. Squirtle represents the Beaches around alola and the water in the fact that alola is made of 4 (5 if you count aether paradise) islands, and Torchic represents the Festivals inside of Alola.
finally, someone with a brain. legends ZA will definitely be in the future
Your artstyle is so COOL I like it a lot :)
I didnt even know there's be a new pokemon game lol
I can't wait for the backlash if it's slop
Or maybe like in original X & Y, you actually get two starters (one gen 6 & one gen 1)- so maybe you get two in this game as well, including the original Kalos starters now with megas?
I would personally love a revisit of feragulator. I loved him as a kid.
4:59 it's just an animation of the blueprints
It might be recent but probably not in the future
That Cinderace looks sweet! That would be my pick
i can't wait for it bro pokemon x and y was a great game on the 3ds
Great Video I Have Subscribed!
But what if they do like X and Y, and we get TWO pack of starter.
The one from Kalos with a new mega evolution and the one from other regions with a new regional form?
3:27 mostly stronger *cough* garchomp *cough*
Ok, so X/Y did a thing where you get your starter, then you get a second starter later from the Kanto starters who had a mega (or two if you're someone's favorite)
I'd love them to play it like you get your cool set of mixed up starters with a new final evo and then a second starter from Kalos with a new mega
What I want to see in Z-A is the battle chateau, maybe that would help with battling being more common.
I’m imagining Z-A is going to have us in both the past *and* future
Amazing designs!!
Your options sound amazing!❤ But i think it would be cool if we would get a new form of Meganium or (like you said) serperior since we haven't seen them much in newer games, and i think they could give them cool mega evolution, especially Meganium🦕
huge fan of the serperior design :D
Your on the right track but the legends starters where selected from Pokémon starters that weren’t available on switch like rowlet there was no way of catching one at the time and cyndiquil was from a game with no origins nor remakes on the switch and same with oshawatt so remake the list without gen 1,4,8,9 and any other gen I forgot to mention
Revise: fire Water Grass
Torch Mud Triko
Pig. Toto. Snivy
Litten. Popli. Chikor
I hope if one of my favourites are the starter, they don’t end up being disappointing or worse like my favourite starter of all time did in Hisui (Decidueye).
I love cinderace's new design plus cinderace is my favourite pokemon
Istg I love the way you draw Pokemon
Bring super training back please?
I could see Torterra as an eco-brutalist city-type creature with like structures overtaken by nature on its back as a grass/steel type
This is the perfect game to release a new Eevee form.
Tbh if it’s the kalos starters
Then I’ll be super happy to play with Fennikin again ^-^
It was my first ever starter
