My bag came out wonderfully! I did similar pattern of switching off colors. I did a color switch near the 3/4 top of the bag with yarn that was not as stretchy and then continued with my base color for the last 1/4 of the way before adding the strap. Unintentionally it gave a semi triangular shape to the bag. I first thought I was going to block the bag to give it the squared look but now that it’s done it looks so unique! :)
Think I'll make me a cute little bag n try your triangle idea. Sounds cool! Am I correct that your bag worked out great n any special tips about triangulating? Thank you n many blessings.
Hello peanut gallery! I came up with a very simple tote bag for beginners. I hope you enjoy! I'm a beginner. This has been my very favorite video and project so far. I love not having to count stitches or rows! This made for a very fun, relaxing, and stress-free project. I subscribed and will be looking for more from you. Thank you so much!
I think that the reason I find it so easy to learn from you is that you are able to take away my fear of failing at crochet! 'There is no right or wrong way, you can do what ever you want' I love when you say that ! - Really? No hard and fast rules? THANK YOU. So far I have made a lap blanket out of my stitch practice squares from the beginning, and am so close to finishing my second of two t v watching blankets, this last one is made with the waffle stitch....probably 7 X 3 1/2 feet each. You have been able to give me confidence! I want to make a little girls dress next. It is done solely with single and double crochet, but so cute.
Hi just a note if people don’t like the scattered color change line you can work in the round but chain 1 when you begin round it will give you a unified change color line
I just finished my bag yesterday!!! Instead of the one long strap, I did two handles. I love it so much!! Thank you! This is the first thing I've crocheted besides my granma's coveted potholders LOL
New to crocheting well not 100% new. I've done 2 different projects. A baby blanket for my unborn daughter, a beanie for my husband and now I'm working on this bag. The pattern is amazing not easy it's a little challenging. I don't know all the crochet patterns. I only know a few but with every project and pattern it makes things so much fun. This bag I know will turn out to be amazing lol thank you so much!!!! I've got so much yarn and so little projects I need more lol
i am sooo happy with my lil bag 🥺🥹 thank you for ur video! i literally started crocheting yesterday and i’m feeling like a pro already thanks to u hahaha
Great tutorial! I made a bit bigger of a bag (started with a chain of 45) with a bit softer/ looser of a yarn. The yarn is a medium weight yarn from heartland, so you can tell mines a bit more stretchy and less stable. I would say if you’re going to make this bag, use a similar yarn to hers (a bit thicker and stiffer) even close to a t-shirt/ corded yarn would be good. However if your like me and just trying to get rid of a certain color of yarn or something and it’s softer I’d suggest doubling up (using two strands of yarn to work with) or what I plan on doing is sewing a “satin” liner on the inside so the contents don’t stretch out the yarn.
I’m back! NEW CROCHET BABIES PLZ READ. I couldn’t figure out why my yarn looked so stretchy and loose, it turns out the whole time I was working in the round, I was crocheting into the back half of my stitches. Make sure your crocheting into the top of the stitch, your V’s should be pointing left, I just spent like 8 hours on this bag and got to the second to last step and realized I was crocheting into the back of the stitch, the v’s facing right. It’s not the creators fault at all I just got confused when looking at the stitches and got ahead of myself not paying attention. Do not do what I did, if you did it’s okay it still looks great just took us longer to get there lol.
I've watched many videos of crocheting a bag in the round and this one is by far The Best!!!. Thanks for all the great tips and suggestions! Thank you again!
I made a bag like this with a drawstring at the top. I used a long nylon shoe lace, same color as my bag. To make spaces to thread the drawstring through, my last three rows (at top of bag) were: 1st row - single crochet in every stitch around. Join w/ slip stitch. 2nd row - chain 5, *skip next single crochet, then double crochet in the next single crochet, chain 2* repeat from * to * around. Join w/ slip stitch to 3rd chain of the chain 5 that began this round. 3rd row - single crochet in every stitch around. Join w/ slip stitch.
i loved the way you teach how to work on each row and what will happen if your doing it on different styles or patterns. Those information helped me understand how to crochet properly and neatly. im a beginner but i would like working with different patterns and styles and being working with projects now for 3 months. i really liked your video because its not confusing and it was on a step by step manner. i hope to see more videos of yours like this, and i would like to follow your techniques on how you do your projects. thanks for showing how it should be done and thanks for being generous in telling what will happen if you will do it the other way. :-)
I’m so excited to make this as a Christmas gift (last minute) you crochet the way I think, very freely. Changing things up wherever however and I love it! Thanks
I love this bag. This is the first video of yours I have seen i am now subscribed. I love you're voice and the clarity of how you teach. Just love it and can't wait to go through your other videos and see what else I'm going to make. Thank you.
Thankyou, amazing video! Loved how simplified this was and you didn’t have any hard and fast rules of adhering to one particular pattern. Really found this useful!
I love how she's just winging everything , thank you so mutch darlin , this is the first video I'm watching in your channel and it really helped, so happy with the results , definitely subscribing ❤❤❤❤❤
Oh my gosh! THANK YOU!! I'm a beginner and I made one of these bigger, as a shopping bag, I made a version of this much smaller out of hemp, for a bath mitt. I made one about the size of this in your video and added a zipper to use a purse. Now I'm on my second purse. I'm using scraps of yarn my mother gave me, and am having a blast! One question: do you have an easy sock pattern??? Thank you again!!!
Thank you !!! I loved your video !!! I made the bag and ran out of yarn with 4 Stitches to go !!! I just used a different yarn for now. Thanks again. I will try and figure out how to attach a picture of my bag
DARLENE, HOW DID I SURVIVE WITHOUT YOU???? Great tutorial easy and pretty! I'm going to make one for my granddaughter. You are truly gifted!!!!!!!! Luv you and your channel 😊🌹.
Do have it be an even line... it is best to single crochet right after you do a half double crochet so it levels out more closer together or the bag won't look even and clean cut. Love the video, but of course for me that is one of my pet peeves that bugs me lol
Thanks for this tip! I'm trying to make this bag but the unevenness when changing colors bothered me a bit Just wanted to ask if you mean to sc when you start a new row so its more even? Thx
This is the most easiest tutorial I really loved I have been watching many many vids but none of them seem to teach but make their own but u in the other hand is just the best 💗💗 thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial 💓
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Definitely gonna like nd subscribe. Th way you presented it made it nteresting nd easy to follow along. I'm just about finished with mine nd am soo happy tht I've created something soo special nd beautiful for my Granddaughter. Sh's gonna to love it. Thanks for sharing!
Love it! As a guy with big man hands I appreciate the no-nonsense explanation..no chain, turn, count stiches, etc. Thanks!
I'm new and I love this so much! The instructions "this is good enough for me" this is a woman after my own heart! ❤

Finally a tortial that someone goes into details about what they're doing & any alternative if available. Very helpful. Thanks so much.

How much yarn did you use?
Oh my gosh!
Thank you so much for this. I have made 3 of them so far!!

Amazing tutorial I’ve started my first tote thanks to you and so far so good I’m excited! Thank you
Thanks for this tutorial🙏
i made my first bag❤
You're Great! Beautifully created, beautifully taught! What would I do to make a wider bag?
You would make a longer starting chain. If you wanted a wider base, you would make more rows on the bottom.
I loved the laugh!! That was great. Thank you for the nice sense of humor 😊 I'm working on this very bag following along.
Very cute! Maybe even do-able! Please show us how you made half-square triangles, crocheted, they were beautiful....
Did I ever make half square triangles crocheted? Don't think so. lol
But I do plan on doing. I plan on doing lots of crocheted quilt-style blocks
I saw them in the quilts your Mom made that you and Sandy donated---
Hmmm... I'd have to watch back. I have no clue what I made back then. But I do think I remember something triangluar now! lol
DARLENE, HOW DID I SURVIVE WITHOUT YOU???? Great tutorial easy and pretty! I'm going to make one for my granddaughter. You are truly gifted!!!!!!!! Luv you and your channel 😊🌹.
What if you don't have another color or you only want to work with obe color, do I just continue my bag until the length I want?
Yep! Happy crafting! :)
This was so helpful I had a lot of extra yarn to use so I looked up how to make a bag in and this was so helpful thank you so much
Do have it be an even line... it is best to single crochet right after you do a half double crochet so it levels out more closer together or the bag won't look even and clean cut.
Love the video, but of course for me that is one of my pet peeves that bugs me lol
Thanks for this tip! I'm trying to make this bag but the unevenness when changing colors bothered me a bit
Just wanted to ask if you mean to sc when you start a new row so its more even? Thx
i did it! i put a zip and lining , i love it thank you from italy
How many balls of yarn did you use?
Very easy to follow even for an italian! I was looking for something like that as a bag for birthday present. Thank you!
