I agree. It's super annoying that Disney decided not to bring back Jeremy Irons for Scar in the 2019 remake. I think Jeremy Irons said at one point if only Disney had contacted him about it, he would've loved to do Scar again.
I could go on for days about how PERFECT he was voice acting scar!

Yeah, but the remake was sub-par at best, and be prepared was spoken, not sung (I know he lost his voice so Jim had to do the rest but still) but for his actual lines, yeah, it would’ve been better...I feel the same about Timon and Nathan lane...

We need to talk about how brilliantly they matched the singers with the speakers. All of them are flawless. They sound exactly alike!
I'm especially impressed at how well Jim Cummings did when he needed to replace Jeremy in Be Prepared. This is the first movie I've seen where they needed to replace a voice actor mid-song.
Jim Cummings was basically Disney go-to-guy everytime they needed a voiceover for a character. Mimic other actors voices is what he does best.

I remember crying when Mufasa died and trying to hide it from my brothers. This was one of the best cartoon movies of all time imo.

Disney often draws inspiration from or reflects the voice actor into the final animation character. If you look closely at Madge Sinclair you can see how she bares a similar regal appearance to her character Sarabi especially the eyelids and shape of the eye. Jeremy Irons also looks kind of similar to Scar if you really observe the two. Also look up Irene Bedard who voiced Pocahontas, another very striking likeness of voice actress to animated character.

What I never understood is that Matthew CAN sing, he's been in multiple musicals so I always questioned why he never did his own singing for this, especially since it's literally ONE line lol

Shinybud He actually IS singing about half the song we see in the movie, BUT....he blew out his voice at one point, and so the god of voice over, Jim Cummings, was brought in to do the rest of what Jeremy couldn't finish. Indeed Jeremy can sing alright, he has a very tuneful voice :)

Yeah, Matthew is a great broadway singer but he said that he can't "sing in the Disney way". I am not sure what he ment but I guess it means that they didn't found his singing voice fit for the Disney style.

I thought Jason Weaver and others were all the original actors. The voices match so well. And Jason’s voice was iconic since he played young Michael Jackson as well. This casting is flawless.

The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie, and I'm SO EXCITED for the remake! I have seen Disney is getting a mostly new cast for the remake, and I'm okay with that. However, if they casted James Earl Jones as Mufasa, then they HAVE to get some more of the original crew. I'm not saying the ENTIRE cast, but maybe one or two more. Personally, I want Jeremy Irons and Whoopi Goldberg to return in the remake. REALL HOPE IT HAPPENS!
