I have a doubt that this dialogue are real cruel king though considering this is not after life but your inner fear or burden this also shown that for some reason if you say you're feeling toxic the plants was here again which kinda doesn't make any sense as griefer didn't die nor anything
I also kinda think of concept where you fight cruel king Multiple time until his final dialogue will upgrade your ice dagger considering it as mastering the abilities

I figured the cruel king was never evil to begin with, due to him mentioning his voices and the way he talks of trying to prevent the people he governs over from dying,
but i think the reason behind his name has to be the way he's trying to "prevent" the false prophecies from coming to fruition, by freezing the lands, and misusing his power over the ice dagger,
I honestly felt bad for having to fight him and i really understood where he was coming from so that definitely hit me in the feels twice as much knowing he wasn't a bad person just one caught in unfortunate circumstances.

Like any leader, it's very easy to follow the horrible path that's paved with good intentions. People do things out of desperation or because they feel it's for the best. Doesn't help he had something manipulating him from the shadows.

He was my favorite npc throughout the whole game because of his sincerity to protect his people, i wish there would've been another way to take the ice dagger from him though, nontheless im glad we are on good terms. Glory to black rock!!
In the discord I there was a poll for characters like the king if they should’ve brought back for demo 3, voted him because of his character development 🗣️🗣️

I thought demo 3 was nearly done, just needed some polishing.
Either way, it has to go to griefer.
The cruel king as a character has already met a form of closure. He stole the ice dagger because tormenting voices told him his kingdom would be destroyed in the future, and he stole the dagger to prevent said destruction.
When he’s killed by the player, he re-encounters you via the Guru. Thanks to the fights, he realized that he was in the wrong and the player was trying to help save everyone.
Thanks to that, the King is at peace and redeems himself by training the player.
It’s a wholesome end that doesn’t need to be dragged on any further.
Griefer, however…
He’s apparently been “bossed around” his whole life according to him, and is left to rot in the Sacred Oak as a gross hybrid between plant and human.
There’s so much we don’t know. Will he be okay? Was he really being bossed around? What happens if he even does get cured, swear vengeance or something? Come on… he needs a little more time in the spotlight.

Something tells me this might lead to a bit more than one or two badges.
Like a gradual purging of the influence Builderman exerts through the swords, possibly leading to a better ending.

No one would think hes a villain if you actually read his dialogues. Especially after chapter 2 telling you that the voices are the cause of everything
Ive been getting into the blocktales lore since ive played the game but heres my theory the future of the blocktales world is destroyed and theres chaos so maybe builderman or shedletsky sent us back in the past to collect all the swords and save the future thats why when we wake up in terrys bed terry says something in his dialogue about builderman, kidnapping, and time travel i think we probably told him that but thats just a theory
better and faster character development then any anime
I wish that in a future chapter, after we trigger the last dialogue with him, we unlock a way to bring him back, so he can rule over Blackrock again without the ice dagger controlling him
I saw the he will assist us dialogue for the first time, and that really convinced me that he was never meant to be evil, he just wanted good for his people

To be fair, even before the Nirvana bit I thought Cruel King had good INTENTIONS.
The guy wanted to keep his kingdom and people safe, he just kinda went about it in the wrong way.
This is the kind of lore i havent seen in a long time, its rlly good
when i was trying to get stylish badge, i started to like cruel king more because of these dialogues, block tales have such a passion with them characters wth
“Let’s start the training.” In battle: “You’ll never leave!” “Give up already!” “GUARDS! ARREST THEM!”
I once got him saying an overlarged GUARDS ARREST HIM while i was chatting with cruel king somehow
He caused too many brain hemorrhages for me and my friends

Uh it’s really complicated and takes a long time you can just search it up when u want to
Y'know I was thinking for a while. Since the chapter 3 is about Ghostwalker, maybe we can revive him as a ghost later on? There's so many possibilities they can make up for this plot
For example. After we finishes chapter 3, he decide to favor us by join the party and helping us in battles. But instead of him being your permanent partner (For difficulty reasons) you can temporarily summon him for few turns using the Ice Dagger, kind of like a upgrade. He'll either give you special buff or heal you by random chances. It'd be funny if he sometimes show up in cutscenes and scare the opponents. They'll be like, "ACK!! A GHOST!"

@@Robot_steve35 Independently, similar to how Miitopia teammate works. I didn't write the details at first since I don't like making my comments too long
I imagine him using three skills: Scepter Strike (An attrack that freezes the target in certain chances, since the enemy can't defend like players so), Refreshing Heal (It'll heal your partys and give them DEF buffs), Call For Help (He'll summon a illusion of his guards that supports your attack in the next turn). Basically every moves from his boss fight except stapping because, well- It'd be weird if he has another Ice Dagger when you already have one. He probably won't be targeted by the enemies or having a HP since he's a ghost, so I don't think you'll get to control him by any means.
I ain't a game designer so it's kind of messy for a concept, but it's still fun to think about what would happen if it becames real :D I'd be surprised enough if Cruel King ever appears in Chapter 3 since it's most likely confirmed that he's stuck in a limbo

The most evil part about him was trying to kill you, but he only did it because he was convinced by the real main villain that Blackrock Kingdom would fall by your hands.

When talking about block tales, a lot of people talk about grinding cards or something else but little to no one talk about the lore, from what i understand there's these voices that tell the main chapter's bosses about the future, which at worst makes them go against their friends, family (like how griefier didn't care about his dad and the other civilians) this might mean that these voices are probably coming from the last boss fight ( i bet that the chapter 3 main boss will say the same thing about voices from the future) and we still don't know about "builderman" other than him being kidnapped (a "man" got "kid-napped" lol)
It should be an option to give this guy tea, or a cookie.
I have a theory: what if voices are a true villains and what if in the end there will be a choice between listen voices and get bad ending or fight them for good ending?
Judging what cruel king and maybe griefet actually not bad characters but voices make them "evil" this theory is actually makes sense

We beat the living heck out of him just to get the ice dagger without a care until we kept re-fighting him.
griefer is likely also confused, as he can say "...?" whenever you hit him. he, however, cannot speak in that form.

Actually I killed him in one attempt, but from his words it's always obvious that he just wants to protect his people for any cost. I didn't want to kill him, but there's no other option to continue the game.

Yeah every final boss/any boss in general.Because they are fighting you to prove/protect someone,it was always there but people ignored the small details like dialogues.
The only boss that fought us without trying to protect someone is red and blue

Since when he's evil bro, from chapter 1 i already know that he just want the best for his people he don't want to see the bad future for blackrock kingdom, but he do it in a bad way. He was never a villain from the beginning the real villain is the "voices" first it make cruel king think he will safe the kingdom with ice dagger power and now he manipulated brad (griefer) to get venomshank for some reason and making him turn into a plant because brad want to kill us.
