I mean, the game somewhat mirrors dark souls pvp. Not every weapon has fancy stuff plus this is a mmo and they could have performance issues. The pvp is one of the best i have ever played.

@@brandonlucky596 it's not about how flashy the animations look, it's about how they function. the main focus of this game is pvp and in a fast and dynamically evolving battle you dont have time to stand around locked into some fancy animation. you need the ability to get the job done so you can maximize your ability to move and to kill the enemy.

Given the whole island full of magic creatures and nature related magic, I'm surprised there's no pet/summon type abilities. Those tend to be my go to classes in MMO's, maybe I can hold out hope they'll make it into a future expansion.
I could imagine seeing a necromancer, as there already are skeletons and such. Having a few skeletons fight on your side is something that I could imagine people will love, but the pvp side will need balancing I guess

if u get the perk “against all odds” the damage scales as long as you don’t switch weapons or change it. resets when u log out and when u switch weapons

I was hyped to be a mage in this game and I've put nearly every experience point in Intellect so far, but it is so underwhelming and tedious... its boring and feels weak
@@danw3391 not sure what level you are but with life staff being pretty much the only way to AoE heal and also being a really strong self heal, its pretty high up on survivalbility and very strong in keeping many people alive. Strong AoE buffs and strong heals makes it a great party/PvP weapon if you're a solo player though, have another primary weapon and use the life staff as a secondary, not a primary if you're solo PvE
Aww I like mage classes usually. Haven't played NW yet...still on the fence but was thinking of a battle mage class or something. Ice gauntlet with sword as second weapon....still researching
I played hundreds of hours of alpha and beta, take my advice, do not main mage other than healer. Its just so weak and it is understandable, its so easy in an mmo to make mages op but difficult to balance them with TRADITIONAL melee (so don't go crying out diablo or elder scrolls)
I expect in late game it will be common to be at max weapon skill with everything and swap stuff in and out based on the task at hand. It will be more work, but possible, to build different gearsets as well. Everyone gets bored of their weapon and different situations change the best choice, so I don't think getting married to a 2 weapon combo is the right way to go, long term.

The game looks and plays beautifully, the audio design is really killer as well I’m big on that. If you’re a fan of MMOs and you got money to spend I’d highly recommend at least giving it a go for a week. I skipped beta and came into this game completely blind and I definitely give it a 8/10 so far.
That's weird that there are multiple single handed weapons but only 1 can be paired with a shield... How many weapons can you use? Can you actively swap between sets in combat? Going around with a spear and musket seems like a pretty solid choice to me if so.
a minor node you should have mention is that in the hatchet throwing tree, you can pick up a minor passive that changes your RMB block to a ranged throw ability instead
I've been hearing this game has a high dps on your gpu card. I've been using a 3070 zotac twin oc, with fps capped at 60. I believe the main issue happens when switching your settings around in menu. When the game goes to apply the new settings, there's a brief stutter that causes increased power draw.
@@ayushtt3649 I would say most likely. Maybe not at max graphics, but it will still look good. I have an i7 9700k, GTX 1070 oc, and 48Gb of RAM. I have it capped at 60, max graphics and I've not had any frame rate issues playing the game. Good luck with your build and the game!
nice except technically every ability you can rebind so wouldnt that mean it is more like it is the first ability in the tree :P and also you can grab abilities from the other tree IF you really wanted to
You can change which ability is bound too each of the keys. Whichever ability you acquire first through too third will depend on what order they are in. Also, you can mix and match your weapon ability tree points between both sides of the tree for each weapon.
Yeah I am currently maining the musket and spear in the main game, but I was going to keep it that way just cause they share some stats for when you put your stat points in. What else would you combine with it? I think that Great Axe looks freakin awesome af, but I dont think it shares any stats with the musket. EDIT: Actually wait ... I could actually run a Great Axe with the musket because upgrading my Dexterity for the musket, will actually increase my strength as well for the Great Axe....
all people saying the animations are bad have never been in a fight whit like 60 people. its ice pillars everywhere and explosions and screams all around you. its really cool
They're cool but also are very conditional and require a lot of good gear. If you're looking to start out and have a more enjoyable early game I recommend you go into lifestaff + waraxe/ hammer. Split your time between the three weapons and you will be desired in all raid parties AND have a very easy time leveling. My biggest recommendation to all DPS players is too not be afraid to run raids multiple times and make sure to grind your weapon levels. Dont be afraid to buy gear to get focus + intelligence as Focus will allow you to get greater mana regen and maximum mana. I my self run Life staff + Ice gauntlet and I had a fantastic time late game just slamming down my abilities and sitting in ice block to heal.
The sharpshooter musket just seems like it would be broken for PVP. If you had a large squad with these couldn't they just kill everything? Melee options don't seem to have great gap closers and the ones they have seem really short range. Like wouldnt 5 of them doing the kneel thing just wreck every other composition of 5 weapons? I like the look of the game but not the PVP, maybe someone with some experience could explain this to me.
@@claytonjohnson4629 That is a huge misconception. The fault was not of the game but of EVGA graphics cards. If New World didn’t do it another game would of. EVGA told people to send their cards in for replacements because it was a manufacturing issue.

Weapons damage is the damage listed on the weapon. The primary (and for most also secondary) Stat for the particular weapon also increases the damage of attacks as well
- Is there a good build that utilizes the trap tree of the musket as its main thing? I thought maybe Bow/traps would be kinda fun, or maybe even traps/ice gauntlet, but i haven't played yet, just got the game so im not sure what is useless and whats viable.
I'd say it depends on if you play solo or as a group. Levelling with ranged weapon is quite arduous, you fire one shot and the mob just run at your face, you have to engage from afar and be accurate or just dodge and shoot at melee range. But if you play with friends that keep the aggro it becomes hella fun since you can do your rotation properly (talking mostly about musket, didn't play bow much). Musket and bow are mainly for solo target burst imo, not playable solo vs packs.
Western publishers hell is real. Its not that easy to translate and localize a game. Dragons dogma online didnt go well on Asia, so that was a no go for a western release.

Yeah. Musket and rapier is also a good combo for both being Dex mains. You could also make mixed sets.

I think the magic weapons and animations are underwhelming. A fireball is supposed to be a fireball instead of a firecracker.

A spear player could very easily mess that up with a spear throw in the zoner tree.
And a bow can very easily out range a musket
plenty of stuns ans gap close for melee. You need to position well when you're using musket.

You can block damage with rapier. Or did i hear you wrong. I've been blocking attacks since day 1.
When you say weaopon damage, does that mean how much health you are taking off them?
Weapons damage is the damage listed on the weapon. The primary (and for most also secondary) Stat for the particular weapon also increases the damage of attacks as well
- Is there a good build that utilizes the trap tree of the musket as its main thing? I thought maybe Bow/traps would be kinda fun, or maybe even traps/ice gauntlet, but i haven't played yet, just got the game so im not sure what is useless and whats viable.
I'd say it depends on if you play solo or as a group. Levelling with ranged weapon is quite arduous, you fire one shot and the mob just run at your face, you have to engage from afar and be accurate or just dodge and shoot at melee range. But if you play with friends that keep the aggro it becomes hella fun since you can do your rotation properly (talking mostly about musket, didn't play bow much). Musket and bow are mainly for solo target burst imo, not playable solo vs packs.

Western publishers hell is real. Its not that easy to translate and localize a game. Dragons dogma online didnt go well on Asia, so that was a no go for a western release.
One of few things that are bad in this game is that hasn't duel sword

yeah I'm lvl 14 and can't decide which weapon to use everything seems so clunky
those spind attacks, default and special is dizzying.

Genuine question. What makes this good? Three abilities and a left click. Still looks janky, but has big amazon money behind it? Haven't seen anything about sprawling engaging quests/storyline like ff14.
On the surface it looks like a hella basic, not as flashy or pretty Tera. And Tera came out like ten years ago? Genuine question!
this is a pvp and community focused game. it's function > flair. the pve was literally an afterthought lol

@@aetherdryth1 Less abilities means it's much easier to balance, and much easier for people to get into pvp, as you don't have to study every class you might face in combat for 10 hours to learn what they can do, so yea it's actually better for pvp.
