Agreed. Add Blue Eyed Samurai to that list. (I'm 62. A black woman. And I don't usually like animae so when I say they're good... they're really good. 😉
SUCH a great story arc! The only reason it’s ‘expected’ is because it’s 2024 now. Back at the turn of the century, this show hit EVEN HARDER! Netflix completely FUMBLED this work of art.
Weird I hated it so much as a youth I saw it college years and barely could watch it, dragged through. 20+ years later multiple kids. Oh my goodness this anime That closing song Blue. Hits me so damn hard! And now I get it and appreciate the anime!
I am SO glad you finally watched "Bebop". It is so satisfying and one of the few series I rewatch (also, it is not 1000+ eps). It's grown folks good. Also Yoko Kanno and them on the music 👌 Fyi the movie is like a side mission. It doesn't continue the main story, but still retains the style and action.
One Peace tackles crazy grown themes from found family, to slavery, to the impact of a governing body monopolizing knowledge at all cost, including genocide. There's a reason for all 1000+ episodes.
@@mjmoney9s That's no shade -- if anything, that's shading my intimidation at such a long, legendary series! Shoot, making it through all the Naruto & Naruto Shippuden eps was a lot for me.
Cowboy Bebop and Dragon Ball were my intros to anime mid 2000s. Gotta watch Demon Slayer, Hunter x Hunter (especially Chimera Ant arc), or Ruroni Kenshin next after Samurai Champloo. Some of the greatest anime I've watched.
He will never get through DB and DBZ. That is asking too much. This coming from a DBZ lover who has most of the movies, owns the show on several media, has the manga and original art books. 👀 It’s a lifestyle. 😹😹
Well technically we don't know if Spike dies or not, It's up to the watcher to decide I guess what happens from that point forward. An amazing experience this anime is!
the scene where spike walks in the building and takes out dang near the entire organization is one of my favorite scenes in anime history. the song made it even better. i think you'll like outlaw star. it's a lot like cowboy bebop.
@kelechi321 that's a good point, ending on a positive note but I think he gotta take time to 'heal' lol or else he won't give Samurai Champloo or Afro Samurai it's due diligence.
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex...Cowboy Bebop is one of the best...it's one of the few where the English Dub might be better than the Subbed in terms of Voice Acting, the soundtrack, the stories...chef's kiss!
Kev watching this when we now in our 40’s and can emotionally handle the burden. He missing out on us carrying this weight when it was on adult swim during our teenage years.
Cowboy Bebop is my favorite series of all time. I remember my senior year in high school, 2002, my older siblings, sometimes my mom, and my pup would grab some takeout on Friday evenings and watch one of the Cowboy Bebop DVDs. Man, I looked forward to those Friday nights! I let my best friend borrow the DVDs and the day after he finished the series, he didn't even want to talk about the ending because that hit him so hard, lol. I told him that nearly my whole family was feeling the same pain lol.
Cowboy Bebop is in my all time top 3 anime, it held that no.1 spot until Monster came out (which is on Netflix btw). Bebop's atmosphere, action scenes and music are top notch. Spike busting into the syndicate's base with See You Space Cowboy playing in the background, to the final scene where he falls and Blue starts playing at the end and that chorus kicks in hitting you right in the feels, those last two episodes were amazing. Samurai Champloo is like a spiritual successor to Bebop, same director, same studio but instead of a jazz theme you have a hip hop theme, Nujabes (RIP) put his soul into that soundtrack.
"Do not fear death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light, but if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity..." my favorite quote from the show.
Cowboy Bebop is the #1 Anime i recommend to people who aren't into anime. Its just that good, i remember crying watching that last episode with my uncle when i was younger 😂 it was the 1st anything I watched that didn't have an happy ending at the time and didnt know how to process it. I loved Spike lmao
Cowboy Bebop is such a beautiful story about people dealing with their trauma And how you don’t have go through feeling alone by yourself. It’s my favorite anime .
How he didn't mention the episode where bro was calling Spike Sensei and was looking out for his little sister. That episode will have you in your feels fr
I watched it as it came out on adult swim, week by week, as a youth. they played the last episode after i graduated in '02 (oldhead gang). I never watched the movie. I did, indeed, carry that weight. You gotta watch Shin Chan so that you can clean your emotional palette. Samurai Champloo is definitely GOAT level. If you ever read this, Trigun is pretty short too, and you gonna get way too invested. Imma get back on the patreon when my money get right, kin.
I agree with him about the movie. I’ve owned the blu ray of it for over a year and still haven’t had the heart to watch it because I don’t want it to end haha.
Omg my favorite anime! The theme song used to wake me up and I’d stay awake for the entire episode and the closing tune. I’m waiting for my teens to get a little older before introducing them to it but I love to see it being reviewed!
I'm glad you liked the 5th episode Ballad of Fallen Angels, that sequence where Spike is thrown from the church and you see Spike's life flash before his eyes was so emotional and it let you have insights on his past in a clever way. And the track played over it added to its drama as well. Ballad of Fallen Angels is my favorite episode. I think you'd enjoy the movie though the animation quality is good, and the live action I will say I am not happy with it generally, but I won't lie the episode where it is all about Spike's life in the syndicate was interesting and one I remember, you may prefer that to remain a mystery, but it was the best episode in that show.
My favorite anime of all time! That's what got me into anime. Watch Samurai Champloo. It has a similar feeling but a lot of real history intertwined into it. ❤❤❤
My brother, gave you heard of 'Wolf's Rain'?? Its older, but oh so good!! Studio Bones, Yoko Kanno composed and all the old school Funimation voices for English dub, the the Japanese dub is amazing too! I highly recommend it.
BRUHH I FINISHED BEBOP LAST YEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH ADULT MIND? MY GOD, TOP 5 GREATEST ANIME FOR SURE. THT ENDING STILL GETS ME. MY GOD IT WAS SOOO GOOD
You cried huh? This show hurts my eye ducts every time. Faye watching her video tape and laying where her bed was. Ed's dad basically abandoning her and then Ed splitting off from the group. And the ending quotes. It all hurts. I might rewatch it again.
I think for me the best thing about cowboy bebop is that it's re-watchable of that's even a word.
I rewatch the whole series at least once a month
Yes. Yes it is a word. 👌🏿
It’s my all time favorite, the rewatch value is crazy, I get something new from it every time I watch rewatch it
agreed. it's a very compact show, but so damn good
"The best thing about Cowboy Bebop is its rewatchability".
This is an option. Maybe not a real word but it sounds decent out loud.
Champloo and Afro......Top tier anime content right there
Agreed. Add Blue Eyed Samurai to that list. (I'm 62. A black woman. And I don't usually like animae so when I say they're good... they're really good. 😉
Samurai champloo is incredible on so many levels
The soundtrack of champloo is goated
“You’re going to carry that weight”, one of the most deeply impactful quotes in anime history
Kev saying spoiler alert on a 90s anime is hilarious!
I still haven't seen it despite being alive 40 years. Started it, but it's hard to watch an old series with like 30 shows coming out every season.
@@RobLucciXIII it's still good enough, even now.
@@chrisbradford5893oh I'm sure, just need to find the time to watch it.
I’m still on episode 20
SUCH a great story arc! The only reason it’s ‘expected’ is because it’s 2024 now.
Back at the turn of the century, this show hit EVEN HARDER!
Netflix completely FUMBLED this work of art.
cowboy bebop is just so beautiful...the aesthetic, the music!!!! so good!!
Those opening and closing songs hit too hard, I never skip them
& with how the outro plays into the storyline also 🥲
God yes.
@@JoshB100 Yes! I was so mad when I realized I was actually sleeping on the outro 😂
Same.
"Leave me alone" is EXACTLY the way to feel.
My favorite anime of all time. It's so much better when you're an adult
🙏🏾
Weird
I hated it so much as a youth
I saw it college years and barely could watch it, dragged through.
20+ years later multiple kids.
Oh my goodness this anime
That closing song Blue.
Hits me so damn hard! And now I get it and appreciate the anime!
Love love Cowboy Bebop. Still my favorite
Cowboy Bebop is a MASTERPIECE! You're truly one of us now.
Watching the movie is the best way to feel like the stories still going, bc it takes place before the ending and the whole gang is together.
Cowboy Bebop is the show that made me delve into mature anime. It starts as just something slightly goofy and gets unexpectedly deep.
Cowboy Bebop is still the anime to watch over and over again!
I am SO glad you finally watched "Bebop". It is so satisfying and one of the few series I rewatch (also, it is not 1000+ eps). It's grown folks good. Also Yoko Kanno and them on the music 👌
Fyi the movie is like a side mission. It doesn't continue the main story, but still retains the style and action.
No need for one piece shade

@@JoshBou I don't doubt it. One Piece has been on my list for *decades*. Lk the live action and Kev are motivating me to start.
Jump into samurai champloo next, it's a quick 1 season series with tons of story & great art/music. Finish with Afro Samurai
Samurai champloo and Cowboy Bebop are in my time 10 of all time
Can't wait for you to get to Champloo. I'm rewatching right now
Cowboy Bebop is my top 5 animes of all time! Soundtrack alone makes it top tier! Good on you for finishing!
Facts
If you ever find yourself in love with soundtracks, Cowboy Bebop has one of the BEST ones ever. Add it to your collection.

Trust. It only takes this man a month to finish animes
if he thought that was good, just imagine when he watches Samurai Champloo.
Well technically we don't know if Spike dies or not, It's up to the watcher to decide I guess what happens from that point forward. An amazing experience this anime is!

i think you'll like outlaw star. it's a lot like cowboy bebop.
I looove outlaw star, one of my favorites as a kid
Outlaw Star, that second ending OST 😭🤌🏾
the show got me into anime music due to Akino Arai.
Don't sleep on the movie. When you feel like you want to revisit this universe and experience the characters again, the movie will be here for you.
Seeeeee that's why some of us told you to watch Cowboy beebop last lol.
I was torn about the order
But Samurai Champloo will LIFT him up enough.
Afro Samurai, we know Kev gonna cosplay with that one.
@kelechi321 that's a good point, ending on a positive note but I think he gotta take time to 'heal' lol or else he won't give Samurai Champloo or Afro Samurai it's due diligence.
Samurai Champloo next!
That scene when Ed leaves and Call Me Call Me plays 😭😭😭
Love samurai Champloo, one of my favs
It's still one of the best anime soundtracks. Champloo soundtrack right there with it.
My mind was blown seeing this at 13 lol. I was in middle school thinking about spike dying like damn. 😂
Right with like one other person to talk to it about 😂
I love how you keep uplifting me with positive anime reviews and then you break my heart with every beer you hate.
Sympathy for the devil is legit one of my favorite episodes im so glad you enjoyed that one.
That end was heartbreaking 💔
The music....that intro....you gotta see it with a live orchestra. Does that soundtrack some justice.
One of my favorite anime quotes, "Bang". That's it
Cowboy Bebop is God tier! It's gotta be my favorite next to DBZ. Plus, it's soooooo rewatchable.
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex...Cowboy Bebop is one of the best...it's one of the few where the English Dub might be better than the Subbed in terms of Voice Acting, the soundtrack, the stories...chef's kiss!
An underrated point that gets drowned by the show's other fantastic qualities - the dub is (arguably) better than the original.
Finally, the only show I suggested! I used to go to sleep to the sound of the closing theme.
