Sabicas will always be my Maestro in guitar, there is no one else that play flamenco the way he does thank you Sabicas, your music will stay alive for ever. Thank you thank you thank you
Been listening to flamenco (and other music) for most of life. He and Mario Escudero from the older generation are incomparable. Going back farther, Ramon Montoya is the man. Paco Pena (who is now 80) is my number one flamenco guitarist who never fails to wow me in traditional flamenco. When he plays I hear Montoya, Escudero, Sabicas and other masters.
I've played guitar since 1987 Full time since 2006 This will always remain a Mystic and Magic level of guitar playing for me as long as i live ⚛ I will always be touched by it 🕯 Thank you ☯️
Sabicas is second to none in his prime which spanned decades. The thing about Sabicas' fingering prowess is that there was no weakness. The position he places on chords is very accurate and beautiful. It is hard to find another guitarist. You'd have to cross over to John Williams in the classical world to find a peer in my opinion. Denis Azabagic has really great fingering technique also.
So very beautiful.. The idea of Flamenco was loosely brought to my attention va Al Di Meola back in the day, but regrettably I was too much into Metal, and Rock music.. Now in my later years, and recently having discovered Paco De Lucia, I am completely in love with this music, impossible music to play. I just looked up this player via a comment from another video I was watching before this one and came to check him out. Wow.. Awesome. Since Paco De Lucia is my first "Discovery", he is by default my favorite player and inspiration to learn some Flamenco on an appropriate Guitar that meets my beginner level to dip my fingers into. I had listened to the TV sales guy "Esteban" and thought he was really good, but I am not very well versed in Flamenco, so what i may think of as good others in this genre may say he is just ok (Which btw, I have read some critics say he is considered to be "Just so-so" in the style). But hell, I wish I could play like Esteban, let alone like Paco. SABICAS is awesome, and I will definitely be listening to him more often.
Sabicas was also a massive influence on Chet's protegé, Lenny Breau. You can hear some of the same licks in Lenny's pieces, which he learnt from Sabicas records by ear.
Sabicas & Joe Pass were & still are the great escape from the mediocre of a normal life..I don't think existence would have be the same without these two..
I've been playing classical guitar for a while, but I'm 99% newbie when it comes to flamenco. I'm confused with the fact that this piece has got different names around youtube, including fantasia, granaina(s) and granadina(s). Could someone be kind enough to explain me what's the god damn name of this specific composition? (there is no need to comment on the music, you have all aleady said it)
It may be long past the fact, but the song "style" is Granadinas. In flamenco, there are several song forms or palos within flamenco that offer rules such as specific rhythm, feel and key. This is Sabicas's interpretation of the form "Graniana's" which although following certain form rules, (the glissando from F# to B being a classic attribute of the Granainas) allow individual artists to interpret this Palo to their own unique artistry. If you look, many players will play what is called Granianas ( which are derived from the Fandango's rhythm), but each with it's own interpretation and melodies. Alll are similar, but different. The name Granainas, comes from the origin of this Palo, which is Granada. Other palos are also named after regions they derive from i.e. Sevillanas/ Seville. Listen to 100 different flamenco Granainas and you will hear 100 different version, albeit the key elements that make it a Granaians will remain, like the glissando slide and the open string B, eerily resembling a bell toll. Some other great interpretations that can be found on youtube range from Nino Ricardo to Paco Pena and Vicente Amigo.
Many Andalusians migrated to the more industrialized parts of Spain in search of labor. They thus foremost moved to Catalonia (Barcelona), the Basque Country (Bilbao), and the greater Madrid area.
#1 no exceptions 😅
Sabicas will always be my Maestro in guitar, there is no one else that play flamenco the way he does
thank you Sabicas, your music will stay alive for ever.

You forgot to mention Nino Miguel... He was playing with his soul...
This is by far the best Granadinas I've heard. Can't believe he was well into his 70s and still playing this good.
Sabicas and paco de lucia are my all time favourites ❤️❤️❤️
74 years old and he fucking nails it. Awesome.
Speechless...just amazing to see the way Sabicas playing after he does that for 80+ years!
The guitar became a part of him. No intimidation in his eyes. He understood the flamenco guitar to its minute detail. What a master.

PRODIGIOSO!
Maestro de maestros.
Bestia descomunal de otro mundo. Que guitarrista por Dios! Nunca escuché algo comparable

I'd say Top-10 all-time guitarist, no matter what style.
Wouldn't argue with ya. Although I do like Julian Bream an awful lot too.

+Mike Nugent - Agreed 100%. His right hand technique is also without flaw. He makes it look SO easy.
Agreed!
Julian is in my top-10 also.

The maestro of guitar music.
He was blessed with the greatest talent for the guitar
Ecclesiastico sublime bavissimo
Granaina y media granaina jj
Wow. The accuracy, the tempo, the effortlessness. i have never seen or heard anyone play Granadinas style like him since.

Chet Atkins is reputed to having said that Sabicas had the finest technique around
Sabicas was also a massive influence on Chet's protegé, Lenny Breau. You can hear some of the same licks in Lenny's pieces, which he learnt from Sabicas records by ear.
"Lo que hagas hazlo bien" grande Sabicas
the best music ever for me ..
Imagine how it feels for the guitar to be played by him
This performance is hypnotic.
fantastico... maestro...
Paco de Lucia is my favourite because of Sabicas I think❤
Thats crazy how he uses his I and A for picado. Amazing!

Ocho dislikes?? La sociedad está muy enferma...
