    Zodiac has a knack for taking retro designs from decades past, and re-imagining them in bold, stylistic color releases. Such is the case with the most recent Sea Wolf from the Fossil Group- The Zodiac Super Sea Wolf World Time Limited Edition. The watch is ideally sized at 40mm and comes with a Soprod C125 Caliber. An argument could be made that this is the most aesthetically balanced Sea Wolf released to date. Check out this watch as well as the more conservative colorway here-

    Big thank you to Jared at the Fossil Group for making this video happen!

    Thanks Bruce for bringing these watches to my attention. Had a quick google after this video and just love the neo green bezel 💚👍

    World time function is definitely more practical than diver's watch for most people. But usually it is rather messy and complicated, this piece somehow feels very neat instead, great job.

      @watch_drives_you 2 роки тому +1

      It's a great piece no doubt about that.
      But for me personally I use the divetime bezel on my divers quite often. Be it for timing cooking times or other things. A world time function is a nice complication but with the exception of some frequent travelers I don't know who needs to know the time in Mumbai on a daily basis 🤷

      I really like the look of a GMT watch... just having a hard time justifying it cause I have no practical use for it.

    I just got this watch a couple months ago and I love it. And if we're being honest, no one is paying full msrp for this watch. Search the web and one can be had from 1200 to 1500 bucks. This is a great world timer and does what it's meant to do. My wife and I travel a lot around the world and yes it's that cool factor of setting up the bezel and gmt to be able to tell what time it is around the world at a glance and within seconds. The red scarlet bezel (that's what Zodiak calls the red on this bezel; scarlet.) The ability to tell the times of 2 different time zones at the same time is helpful too since my in laws live on the other side of the planet from us. I always know what time it is there without having to do the timezone math in my head. I own a few world timers and this is my absolute favorite. Love the colorway with the red LE and maybe one day I'll grab the black/white with gray dial. Lume isn't a deal breaker for me. Most people will not be setting a world timer in the dark because that isn't practical thus explains why the lume is just "ok". If you like the look of this watch, want a world timer, and can afford to get it I recommend doing so. Each colorway is limited to 500 pieces each (500 pcs in red/white/silver and 500 pcs in black/white/gray). One thing the reviewer left out of his review is what I think is one of it's best kept secrets and uber convenient is that the stainless steel bracelet is a quick release. So going between straps and the bracelet again takes no time at all and no tools required. Switching it up is a breeze.

    I love what Zodiac is doing lately. They have a lot of guts trying out some of the eye catching designs they are doing because not everyone my like it. I love everything iv seen. The red black and white comes together so well and instantly catches your eye.

    Kudos to Zodiac for the spring-loaded links. More companies should follow suit. I've experienced some watches where the bracelet is just a bit loose and then just a bit tight after taking off a link. This would definitely fix that issue. Thanks for pointing out this feature.

    That is a cool idea on the spring loaded links. More brands are offering different adjust features on their bracelets.

    Thank you Bruce for making us discover this worldtimer. As you know, I am longing for a Wordltimer, the one from Omega (IWC too). I already allocated a significant amount of money for another Rolex, therefore the Omega may become too expensive at the present time. The Zodiac has a nice price point and putting the cities on the red bezel looks nice. What about the Zodiac quality and movement? Omega level or close, or much less?

    I can’t think of what to wear one with, but I really like the neon green zodiac. I love the zodiac spotlights…I never ever ever liked their design cues. Now, I have no idea why I do. I guess the more you look the more things grow on you. Also, I love this channel because of this…

    Seeing in your wrist it reminds me the wrist presence of the 16610 Sub, a very do-it-all 40mm configuration. And the brushed "oyster" vintage style is very similar as well. The shape in the lugs is more like japanese diver style. We can definetely see some really good references in this one. Solid casebacks and discreet lumes are ok for me, not deal-breakers but I think the watch deserves a metal moviment holder. Overall a great watch!!! Thumbs up.

    Great video. I love the look of the Zodiac world time. Zodiac design language is great. My only issue is i have owened a Zodiac GMT (Hodinkee LE) in the past and it felt cheap especially the bracelet. I was really disappointed. Definitely will see in the metal before i buy. Also the plastic spacer is a big turnoff.

    • @WatchUnwind
      @WatchUnwind 2 роки тому +1

      A lot of people’s turn off is the fossil movement. One day I’d like to see them at least go ETA or try to go in house but it’s going to ramp up costs so we’ll see. Fossil is a fashion brand that makes tons of fashion watches including but not limited to ( fossil, express, Michael Kors, Burberry) so it’s fine there but with Zodiac they seem to be coming for the real watch crowd like us so it may be smart

    I’ve never bought into the “spring-loaded” clasp concept. Since first owning the Breitling Aerospace with its integrated flat spring in the late 1990s (I now own the later Professional bracelet model), to the Pelagos’ supposed “game changing” spring clasp, to now this Zodiac model. The problem is that one needs to exert an such a “hulk-like” amount of “wrist expansion force” in order to implement an “expansion response” that any added “comfort” is really non existent. It’s like saying your ribs have some flexibility built into them such that if an elephant pressed against you they wouldn’t necessarily break. Wow, isn’t that great? Not really. Such is the case with “spring-loaded” clasps. Perhaps the greatest non impact feature.

      Other watch was a great choice as well. But speaking for myself I would probably only want 1 world timer in my collection. One I have had my eye on for awhile but is a bit pricey is the Fredreik Constant World timer. I shot video with one for my channel but it kinda came out bad so I never put the video together. They also have a 150 seiko world timer that’s quartz at Costco that might end up in my watch box because why not

  • @xiaoyang4571

    It looks cheap to me. For a world time watch at this approximate price point, I’d prefer Frederique Constant, Christopher Ward, or Longines. The FC and Longines list for a lot more, but deals abound.

    I tell you, Seiko has really ruined watches with poor lume for me? Does this watch need to be to Seiko levels of lume? No. Does it need to be "pretty decent" for $1,795 and being a sports watch/based on a diver? Absolutely. This is not just a knock against this watch, but plenty of ~4 figure Swiss divers. They can't tell me it's for cost reasons at those prices. The lume just cannot cost that much as a percentage of the watch. The sizing, look, and the rest is great. It would be cool if the cities were lumed, but I'm not sure how easy that would be and still look crisp. My last complaint is they don't even mention anything about the movement on their site besides it being automatic mechanical. I had to find out the specifics elsewhere. Name the movement and list the power reserve/beat rate, Zodiac. If you're serious about courting enthusiasts, we need lug-to-lug in addition to lug width and diameter in addition to the movement info. That being said, I love the overall styling of these watches, especially the gray dial model. You're so close, Zodiac. Just pay attention to the details.

      I don’t mind a good box and the papers but that’s not what I care about at the end of the day and that’s why I bought my seamaster from jomashop to save 1k. I keep my watches in my own multi slot watch box where they are all together. If you have a big collection with multiple boxes you essentially have a bunch of extra clutter. I try to live as minimal as possible. Less to get messy = less to clean = my wife yells at me less
