Super Keiki students of Roy Sakuma Ukulele Studios perform at the newly named 15th Annual International Ukulele Festival of Hawaii presented by Ukulele Picnic and supported by Roy Sakuma, founder of the annual Ukulele Festival Hawaii event which ended after 52 years. Roy Sakuma started the world's first and original ukulele festival in 1971 and is recognized as Hawaii’s foremost ukulele teacher and proponent of the ukulele. As a young protégé of ukulele master Herb “Ohta San” Ohta, Roy Sakuma found his true calling in teaching. Roy Sakuma Ukulele Studios has brought the joy of music to thousands of students with their dedicated staff of instructors. Ukulele Festival Hawaii, founded by Roy and Kathy Sakuma, continues their life's work of preserving interest in the ukulele and bringing laughter, love and hope to children and adults throughout Hawaii and the world through the music of the ukulele.
