Glad Byrna finally responded to you. Love the Glock, got a holster being delivered to the terminal tomorrow.
Guys and Gals, this is one of the best resellers out there. He literally took his holster off his belt when I asked for his holster. Yes, I wanted his because his was already broken in and it saved me countless hours trying to break in a leather holster. If you’re in the Fort Worth Texas area, I highly recommend visiting him. I’ll be back for another visit.
That said, I really really want Umarex to cross over into the Less Lethal edc concealable weapons utilizing their licensed agreements with actual firearms manufacturers. Yes we have the HDP/R’s but let’s face it. These are not EDC weapons they’re home defense and too bulky to be EDC. Thanks to LLC people like Mike Moots, we can have our Glocks/PPQ/S&W perform a tad bit better, but we still have a long way to go and I don’t believe we need more than 20J when using OC/CS in conjunction with solid kinetics. We are almost there but not quite yet. Byrna has their 16j, LTL has their 18J, so we just need Umarex to step up to the plate and hopefully keep it compact enough to be an EDC concealable weapon.

I agree about Umarex. However, in Europe you can buy the full power models off the shelf. I'm not sure why it would be different here, but it is. I've heard rumors of a 1911 and a baretta 92F in the future.. I REALLY hope its true!
Thanks, you too, I have a question I just tested my mercury rise and at the end of the CO2 before it was all out it start hissing after the last 2 shots, is that good are bad?

update. I have one of these. and shot it at a target that I thought would stop it. but it did not and found my rounds in the byrna box that I had behind it.(still love my byrna). these are powerfull. but when carrying nthem you can pop the mag release. and nI don't see the MUB43 anymore ( 9/20/23) which sucks because I want more mags for it. but they do have a nice .50 caliber revolver that Jon reveiws later.

Has a 1911 look to it. I'm wondering what holster compatibility would be like. I have the Urban Carry Lockleather OWB for my Byrna and love it.
Actually, the compatibility is very close. However, they are thinner than a 1911. If you put them side-by-side with an HDP 50, you can see the difference.

Good presentation. You mentioned the barrel was a little longer than the HDP.50. Is that due to the difference in power out of the box? I can see how someone might fumble around with swapping mags. Although for self defense the idea is to fire and get away. Not have a shoot out. Price point is good. You mentioned the Byrna PE. My guess that won't see the light of day for at least a year. If anytime.
Hehe They actually gave me hope on the Email from Byrna... We shall see! I'm betting that the extra inch of barrel at least contributes to the greater power out of the box. :) Thanks for watching!
I'm not surprised the LE is sold out, the excitement for it was huge in the Byrna community. I'm still not completely sold on the EP, but only because I'm not sure how safe it would be to not have a safety on your launcher if you're in a panic situation when drawing it, especially if you're using chemical rounds. The PE is expected sometime later this year or early 2024 if the investor reports are anything to go by. But it could change, but it'd be a bad decision on Byrna's part to not get a smaller concealable it to market sooner than later.
@@Joreel I agree completely! They have dominated the market for quite awhile but there are a LOT of up and coming companies. Good for us, competition for them :)

Yes, however the MUB50 is considerably more complex internally.

I love how they can say what fps you are assumed to get right out the box. I'm not sure what grains or weight projectiles you used for this video but I am curious does it say on the box what weight should give you that fps?
I would tend to agree with you. The FPS reading is never followed with the ammo used for testing. In this case, they are the 2.6g rubber/steel rounds. They send some regular rubber rounds but they are tacky so I wouldn’t use them.
Is there a silencer for this launcher yet. I like practicing with it but it's too loud. Maybe I will be able to practice with it, in my back yard, on the 4th of July and New Year Eve. 😂😂😂
Alas no ;) They do have quite a POP :) Go for the garage and use a box with HEAVY packing foam. That works well ;)

I have to hit it hard enough that it is uncomfortable. My teenage daughter cannot do it at all. Is this normal? Any ideas how to mitigate the problem?

My wife has the same issue. I tell her to bring her leg up and use the thick muscle in the front of the thigh, just above the knee, to get it active.

Just between you and me? :0 I was hitting 410 yesterday using nylon/pvc coated jaw breakers. Its a cool little launcher. Just think, they are just getting started! If they continue to improve, they will be major contenders.

The ring is a replacement oring. The pin is to push the round back into the magazine from the hole on the top of the slide if you need to unload it without firing all rounded Thanks so much for watching!

@@BrainMeltDown Yeah, their documentation could be a bit better. They sent me a schematic with a complete breakdown but watermarked the snot out of it :) Let me see if I can clean it up and I’ll post it.
The Loading mechanism is a lot less clunkier then using a speed loader. As much as I like the aesthetic of the HDP 50 that "cap and ball" style loading takes some of the fun out of it. This however is a great compromise from not being able to load from the pistol grip and similar .50 replicas should revise their own designs and follow suit.
Yeah I was playing around with it and got quite fast swapping them quickly. It would all be practice practice practice.
According to the MUB 50 instruction pamphlet it says you cannot unload it after it is loaded. This is very much inferior to the HDP or HDR loading system.

@@earthenscience There is a way to unload it it requires a small alan key or pin inserted into the top of the upper. This pushes the round down alowing the magazine to release. I Have the Hwasan.68 F7 Glock that uses this very same system just in .68cal.
Where can I find the HDP50? Looking for something that’s both personal and home defense. Not comfortable yet having a real pew pew. But comment section has mixed reviews for the MUB50

The only thing I don’t like is the position of the mag ejection button. I bought a holster but pulling the pistol out it presses the ejection mag button and the mag falls out. I have to keep the safety off to keep the mag in but it will still pop out a little with out falling out so you have to press the mag tip back in fully then pop the co2 and fire. I bought a belly band holster also but the rail on the pistol snags on the stretchy fabric so that sucked too. Later on I might shoot my finger off using a real gun with muscle memory because I keep pressing in the mag tip to make sure it is fully in and safety is off so it do not fall out.
Its so funny you'd mention that! I modified a leather holster JUST for that reason. Its a very innovative solution but some good, launcher specific, holster line would be great! Have you tried the Torpedo Revolver from them yet? That thing is awesome.
Have you tried to cut the mag ejector button with a hot razor to take off a little of the length?

The holster is a problem. How can one avoid the holster pressing on the magazine trigger so that the magazine falls out? Not such a good solution here. Does anyone have any tips for suitable holsters? I also want to put a laser on this one.
Greetings! Yeah, that's annoying and i found that myself. I use a regular leather holster (That fits several of my launchers) it seems to work and keeps the pressure off of that release. Also, you can have a kydex holster made at a gunshow which will avoid it all together. 9Im working on getting a few made.

I was trying to order a Byrna from Amazon but they don't ship Byrna to Alaska. Now I am looking into the MUB 50 as an alternative. Can't find any videos comparing the MUB 50 to a Byrna.

@@AlternateArmsSD I ordered a MUB 50 before I seen your reply. I just received it today. I purchased it from Amazon. When I fire it, the magazine releases causing it to not load the next ball. Also, when I hit the release (on safe), the magazine jams and doesn't come out until I push the ball down with the supplied pin.

Hehe I know its a sea of launchers out there. Start with an HDP50. Either buy it modded OR mod it yourself for the experience. They are a fantastic, POWERFUL, and inexpensive launcher to start on. I have very detailed videos on them.

I would like to see them put the safety up where the hammer would be so it is in visual line of sight. To help prevent pulling the trigger only to find out is is on safety.
True, if they did they would have to relocate the valve for adjusting the pressure: However, the could integrate a double trigger safety pretty easily/
I was initially happy with my mub50 purchase. But I tried practicing with it this past weekend and now it wont hold pressure with new co2 cartridge. I barely shot thru 4 cartridges a few weeks back. Now I will have to repair it, but being its basically new is a real bummer. I made sure to use the same umarex CO2 and always put a little oil prior to loading it. I guess worst case scenario I purchase a $110.00 paper weight.
Where does the C02 leak?
I have taken mine apart because the very first shot at full power blue the seal o-ring and now I cannot find any diagram to put it back together. I got it all figured out other than the trigger spring mechanism but can't find anyone or any device or help reinstalling it

Got one...hits hard, harder than my byrna sd...6 shots vs 5 and the mags are skinny...i can fit 4 in my pocket but only one byrna mag. 10 shots vs 30. Hmmm.
Heh and just think, this is early in the companies history! These are only going to get better!
I've got one coming in, I'm going to compare it to my Byrna as well. The advantage to the Byrna is one-handed first shot ability, conventional mag loading, larger powder capacity, and none of that confusing safety & mag release issue. But, the MUB does look like a modernized love child of a Tokarev and Colt .32 1903, so there's that...

What do u think of the blank 9mm guns that fire the pepper mist is it legal to carry in ur state. Just wanted to know ur thoughts on them?
@@shaundennison5391 well, there’s pros and cons both directions. I live in Texas, so it’s pretty much legal to carry everything :-) as far as the blanks, though, since you’re still firing off of a cartridge using a primer, it would still be considered a firearm. Now there are several different companies that utilize a method like this like JPX, and I’ve been meaning to get one of theirs and the test, but they use a primer to propel a stream a great distance actually.
Thank u buddy I live in South Africa and getting a licence to carry a real firearm is difficult. I bought a blank gun the up side of it is that u dont have to buy CO2 cartridges. I have never used mine for self defence as yet and have it for about two years now. Anyways I like ur Videos and I am think about buying a pepper ball gun just still considering which one.

I would probably go with a hdp50. While the MUB 50 is more powerful out of the box, the hdp50 is much easier to upgrade into a beast.
I got the MUB 50 and it jams all the time. When I fire it, the magazine releases (without touching the release button) causing it to jam.I contacted Mercury Rise and they say it's my fault and want me to upload a video of me shooting it as proof. I don't do videos. So far, I don't think they are a very reliable company.

@@AlternateArmsSD I ordered a Byrna LE. Just waiting for it to be sent. I got the MUB 50 working by removing the magazine release and the lever which keeps it from ejecting when not on safe. Have to use a small screwdriver to eject the mag but it works (kinda).

Check out "CHI-E SDP 50 1911" its from Taiwan Looks even closer to a 1911 then this. It has a upper slide I bet can be modified to take the MUB magazines.

If you are in a place that allows them, I’m go with the hdp50 compact (modified) or the byrna. Both are small, light, and easy to conceal. If you’re in an area that’s a tad stricter on what you can carry, I’d look at the penshot or stickshot. Both are super easy to conceal and the penshot is an actual pen. I have videos on both. @@chihuahua_mama_1984 The ep Byrna is fine. On the HDP 50, that is an absolutely fantastic launcher, and very easy to modify. Shoot me an email, I have them both on modified and fully modified for sale. I may be able to save you a little bit of money. Yeah, I’m glad you live in Florida. I am in Texas where we are still free as well. As long as we hold onto it :-)
As far as the holsters on the hdp50, they will fit any standard 1911 style holster, both concealed carry and external kydex.
Byrna, on the other hand, is a little blocky, and requires some thing a little more custom. It’s easy to modify a standard leather holster to fit it, but it does take a little work.
How much for the fully modified HDP50. Or do you sell the kids separately.? How about a price on a modified HDP 50 and

Hey brother, well, it uses the same type of plastic that the HDP 50 does. However, the teardown on this launcher is much more complicated and can explode into a shower of springs and parts. At some point in the future, I will do that video for you guys.

So why put out the money for the Byrna Le ? And I am a Byrna fan .
Well, that boils down to personal preference, and of course, payload. You get considerably more powder in a 68 caliber round then you do in a 50 caliber round. However, if you practice with your launcher daily, none of that really matters. It’s more about shot placement than volume. (But volume is never a bad thing)

Around 15 and then you will see a drop off.

Yes and no :) You can get a bit more out of them by dremmeling the chamber BUT if you’re looking for a huge bump, look at the salt supply s2.

You can install a tap (and some have done it) :)

yea this Mercury Rise MUB 50 is a no go for me, it looks like that mag release button is easily triggered. Even just storing this in a sling bag/fanny pack, it would get inadvertently pressed on and release the mag, and that's a problem. This is the same problem the china prototype of the salt supply S2 had, which is why it was a prototype only(props to Less Lethal 4 Dummies for pointing out this problem in one of his videos). The real salt supply S2 had this problem corrected as a final production form. Mercury Rise needs to do the same for the MUB50.

The Salt Supply is a BEAST right out of the box. It rivals the Byrna HD with no upgrades at all. Also, and I cant say this about any other semi auto launcher, I have NEVER had a jam in my Salt Supply. It just works every time.@@kennymike7937

Greetings, primarily because there is a point of diminishing returns with heavier rounds. I have a video planned for them in the near future with a few different weights.
i dropped my lancer Scorpion and it must have landed on the hammer. it shoots super week now.
Oh ouch! My guess is that that means your hammer is not making full contact with a firing pin. If it’s hitting it lightly, that would explain the lack of pressure. You might look into a rebuild kit and rebuild the mechanism.
@@AlternateArmsSD i had to pull the hammer out of the valve w/ pliers. I think the valve is damaged. I likely will not try to fix it. I have better ones to catch up on their maintenance and such.

Mercury rise has a tendency to label everything that they have either training or paintball just to skirt some of the import rules. They are identical though.

Hi can someone help me please? At my Walmart in Hawaii.. what’s the difference between the crossman powerlet 12 gram co2 40 count box and the the other crossman powerlet 12 gram co2 40 count box but says for paintball and cost $10+ more looks the same. Also the 15 count box 12 gram co2 is $15 and the 15 count 12 gram co2 for paintball is $8 so weird
There’s absolutely no difference. As long as they are 12 g cartridges, you’re fine. I’ve tried several different brands and have not found any major difference between any of them. Just make absolutely sure that the tips are not threaded.

18-20 out of the box. This is a great start for a new company! I can't wait to see where these folks go from here!
How long does it hold pressure?
The beauty of this design is that you don’t pressurize it until you need it.
2.5 or 1.5 gram rubbers balls, 1.5 should get 450fps or so and like with 2.8 aluminum balls should be mid 300sfps, whats the rubber ball grams you used?
The test rounds were heavy dense rubber as I recall. Around 2.4G. The MUB 50 is nice but I’m growing very fond of the torpedo launcher. Also, I’d you buy one, I have a 10 discount code on that video!

Any upgrades to make it have more joules?
Not as of yet. I actually tore one of these down and it is considerably more complicated internally than any other launcher. I’ve tested. I’m working on a couple of possible upgrades now.
@@AlternateArmsSD I noticed something interesting...on Amazon I purchased some 50cal slingshot ammo. Weighs 8.32g
When fired at 350fps this produced 47 joules.
When fired at 400fps it would produce 61.84 joules!!!!! 😳😳😳
@@IAmCapNFapN That’s brutal! Just keep an eye on your seals and detents. The steel bearings can be a little tough on them.

@@IAmCapNFapN Generally it’s 300-400 depending on the ammo you are using. More on softer ammo or pepperballs.
When do you have to change the co2 cartridge???
Never, until you puncture it. After you puncture the C02 and use the weapon, you should change the cartridge to a fresh unit. It will stay indefinitely until punctured.

@@LinkBeats15 you should fire all six rounds, and then keep firing until all of the CO2 is gone. Then, change the cartridge :-) also, on that particular launcher, you can just twist the bottom to release the pressure on the CO2 cartridge.

Ok, make sure it’s on safety, there is no C02 in the system, and that the launcher is discharged. Now, I’m the box there is a plastic “pin”. On the top of the launcher there is a small hole. Push the pin onto the hole and that will force the jammed rounds back into the magazine. Then, release the magazine. (You have have to pull it a tiny bit if the round is still too high.

For actual real life I would carry any HDR over the MUB 50. By any HDR, I include even the HDRs that have unsafe Gen3 valves. The Gen3 valve's are so unsafe I try to avoid using HDRs for plinking. But the MUB 50 has a serious flaw with the magazines. There is no way to tell what you loaded into a magazine, so if you have a MUB 50 in storage for a while and you didn't write down if it was loaded or not, you have to look down the barrel to see if its loaded. And then you don't even know what the loadout even is. You cannot unload it after it is loaded. If you want to repair or maintenance the gun it is very difficult to put the magazine mechanism back in. I (supposedly) put the magazine in correctly and it just seems to dislocate randomly on its own. The latching mechanism is not robust. And one exception would be is a 7.5 joule HDR, I would carry a MUB 50 instead of that.
Actually, you can unload it. If you look on the top of the slide, there is a small hole. If you hook the tool that they include down the hole or a paper clip, you can press the ball down into the magazine, allowing you to release the magazine.

@@AlternateArmsSD The exact words of the manual says "Warning: Only the empty magazine in the pistol is allowed to be unloaded." The magazine feels junky to me so I am not going to disobey the instructions. For example, I took the gun apart and it was very difficult to put the magazine back in and it seemed like a flimsy design. For example, when I picked up the gun the magazine just popped out for no reason. I think I did put the gun back together correctly since I shot 3 magazines so far with no feed issues. And I tell you what, black rubber balls are no good for defense, I cannot see the projectiles at all. Anything bright colored you want for defense, metal is shiny and good for defense. And the sight picture is as bad as the original 1911, I do not recommend this for defense it has one of the worst iron sights I have ever seen. And I put my hand in front of the barrel to measure the power, at first I thought it had a lot of power, but only because some aluminum shards gave me a splinter on my finger. I put some Chinese aluminums in earlier, they had the more joules than the rubber but they leave a bunch of shards. The thing only outputs 8 joules max. I left it at Factory settings at max power. I couldn't tighten it cc with the allen wrench. In case the instructions were backwards I tightened it clockwise with the allen wrench as much as I could, it made it even weaker, 25% of the original power. I will stick with the HDR or HDP for defense. Someone made a video claiming this has 20 joules but I don't know how. I put my hand 2 inches in front of the barrel and it barely stung. You get way too many shots out of this thing, I had to shoot it about 25 times until it was empty. And I do not recommend anyone putting their hand 2 inches infront of the barrel (because of the shards.)
@@earthenscience once again, I’m not disputing what the instructions say. I’m simply giving you the reality of how to unload the weapon if it is already loaded without having to fire up all of the rounds :-) they are about 16 Joules out of the box. You’re gonna get maximum pressure out of the first 8 to 12 shots for certain and then diminishing returns as you go along. You are 100% correct on the build complexity. it is much more complicated than it needs to be.
My mub 50 leaks from the barrel any suggestion on whats causing that
It's leaking out the front of the barrel I put my hand in front of it while it's coming out
You need to change the Oring in the valve. Its pretty easy and cheap.

I switched from regular oil to chapstick, it turns out that orings in the presence of most oils will get brittle over time and rip. it's a tip a friend gave me when he was telling me about the orings on his fuel injectors. I tried his method a couple years ago and I checked them last week and it seems that chapstick keeps orings pretty fresh.

Be sure you are only using a high quality synthetic oil. Dino oils will and can breakdown or dry out orings. We also reccomend staying away from aerosols as well, problem with aerosols being many use a carrier agent that will break down orings and seals.
@@wrekingcrew1398 Agreed! I’ve had people actually say they’re using WD-40 as a lubricant. Do you want to talk about a dirt and dust magnet. Another thing that I have found that actually works very well is a light dusting of baby powder, or any other very fine corn starch. As long as they don’t get moist, it is a perfect carrier and keeps rounds moving very quickly through the weapon. I love experimenting with these. I’ve been able to get far more power out of them, and I’ve even posted, but that was sort of eliminate the less than lethal purpose.

I love the fact that Scully is so widely recognized :-) it takes me about nine hours to print one at 30% infill which is what we are firing at. We were recently on vacation now and I had my printers on Auto so I’m curious to see how many of them actually printed and how many of them failed :-)

Less Lethal Dad is saying some horsesh*t about this having 25 joules. Made a clickbait video saying the mub50 has "20 joules" but he just shoots metal pans the whole video and doesn't chronograph. Reading the transcript he doesn't mention joules anywhere. And he posts a comment claiming it has 25 joules. Then somebody posts that your channel "Computer Solutions" and is saying that you said this has 50 joules. But I don't hear you saying this has 50 joules anywhere in the video. You need to fix your mic though because every five minutes I have to decrease my volume because the volume gets deafeningly loud.
ROFL! I have never once claimed that at all. This thing was 16 and 18 at best out of the box. Do you think it’s possible to get 50 J out of this, maybe if you bottle-fed it, but even then, I think it’s a stretch. You’re dealing with a limited amount of air supply in the chamber.

@@jesusbrokemylegs You are relatively stuck with what you get out of the box with the mub50. I’d look at the hdp50, tr50, or salt supply S2 for more punch.
