Sounds a little Radiohead; a little Porcupine Tree; a little King Gizzard; a little Pink Floyd. Nice!

Hey, that was really good! I never even heard of them. Are you gonna do the album? I'd be interested. Another discovery from your channel - thanks.

I love this band, especially since Gavin is on drums. For me, the best track of this band is "The Final Thing on my Mind" from the album "Your Wilderness" too ... awesome track.

A very good band, a sort of slightly relaxed Porcupine Tree. No bad thing to be compared to them! Masters of bringing a song to the boil - but not quite going over the edge. Some tasty albums out there; I like the rather dark breakup album "All the Wars" (brilliant music, sometimes hard to listen to). Try Last Man Standing from that album - almost visceral, the relationship argument between two has got to the guy being left at a gas station. She just drives off as he goes pay.
TPT are certainly a recommended band and all the better for Gavin Harrison (... think All the Wars didn't have Gavin).

My favourite Pineapple Thief track is Nothing At Best. It has one of those whizz-bang production moments that make a track memorable.

    Great band.
    Variations on a dream
    Versions of the truth
    Nothing but the truth
    These are gems.
Haven’t properly listened to all other albums but they don’t sound wrong at all.

Thank You Justin for the intro for me on The Pineapple Thief. I like this song Exile. Didn't know about them until now. I'll have to check out more tunes from their catalog. It does have some that Porcupine Tree flavor. Nice song.

A big fan of TPT so sorry for this long rant. I completely understand that some people might not like them (everyone has different tastes after all) but I do feel that the most common criticisms of them and Bruce Soord are lazy. The poor man's Porcupine Tree one, in particular, is based on their name alone. Bruce Soord is extremely strong melodically (one of the best to come out of the UK in the past twenty years) in my opinion. There is A LOT of variety over the fifteen albums, and to dismiss Soord and the band in such a way is always really disappointing. In Exile is probably not even the best song from the album that JP chose (The Final Thing On My Mind, Fend For Yourself, No Man's Land may all arguably be better). I would definitely admit that Soord's lyrics can be derivative, he does go back over the same things or repeat the same phrase too many times, but it's a minor criticism considering his remarkable ability to find a hook.
(There is actually a strong Steven Wilson connection other than the music, though. Wilson brought TPT to the Kscope label, which he himself was signed to for a while, and Soord has supported Wilson on tour as a solo artist. Wilson also likely recommended Soord for mixing Jethro Tull's latest studio album)
When it comes to the Radiohead comparison, I do really despair at this. One theory I have is that Americans, and those from outside of the UK, find it hard to distinguish between British accents, so while there are some similarities to Thom Yorke, they are pretty minor. Matt Bellamy of Muse often gets the same accusation levelled at him, but for those brought up in the UK, there will only be a few people who wouldn't be able to distinguish between the two. Perhaps it is a nationality thing because, as a British person, I do sometimes find it hard to distinguish between American singers.

Damn little bugger! Stole my breakfast again! Out the window goes the Porcupine. Tree in yard is where the thing nests, damn The Pineapple Thief, that naked tail runs faster than belief! It's mouth lined with grinning teeth!😆🍍✌&❤

Hi JP. DP from UK. I Could be Wrong, but I've always seen The Pineapple Thief as very derivative of Porcupine Tree, right down to the same initials and now Gavin Harrison joining the band. Really like this track though, lovely melody and vocals, great guitar solo at the end, but those comparisons are still there.
P.S. my song ref I Could be Wrong is by Gerry Rafferty (no, not PiL)

Agree with your thoughts about Pineapple Thief. Several years ago someone gave me a couple of albums, I listened to them a couple of times and forgot them. They weren't particularly bad, just....meh!

Great song and band. I saw them last year and met them all before the show. Meeting Gavin was a thrill! They put on a great show. I'd recommend Driving Like Maniacs, Shoot First (Rewired) and Threatening War. Cheers!

If this is a "poor man's Porcupine Tree" then call me a poor man. Fan of both bands since their early albums and still enjoying it. My fav Pineapple Thief's album is "Little Man" from 2006, dealing with the death of Bruce's prematurely born son earlier that year. Songs from it, like "November" or "We Love You", are still among their best.

Some Porcupine Tree sounds a bit Pink Floyd. I like that. There's not enough floyd in this world. Some Pineapple Thief sounds a bit Porcupine Tree. I like that. There's not enough Porcupine Tree in this world. That said, I think Gavin Harrison could play in a polka band and he'd give you something to like about it. It would be better if some of it sounded a bit Pineapple Thief, though.

Very much has a "Nil Recurring"-era Porcupine Tree feel to it.
Which is no bad thing, in my opinion.

Rather ordinary I though, repetitve, unexciting, and I've heard it's like countless times before. Re the solos, the first seemed totally perfunctory, while the second (only marginally better) is unlikely to have melted anyones face... Blah with a side of yawn.
