I wanted to get this 38 inch ultrawide since I've first seen it at CES 2019. But the price is so ridiculous, so absurd that I STILL cannot get over it and will not buy it until it's much more reasonable. It goes for 2k EUR here in Europe and the price is not dropping at all, at least the 34GK950G dropped a lot in price in the first few months after release. And the worst part is that you would have to upgrade your GPU to at least a 2080 Super or better 2080 TI to get some decent FPS on this monster resolution.

Excellent discussion. As someone who recently moved to a 32:9 monitor:
I find utilizing a 21:9 game window is far better for gaming.
however, the 49" diagonal of 32:9 displays I have found to be invaluable outside of gaming. Multi-tasking with voice comms open beside the game window, viewing resource monitor's, cross-referencing multiple PDF's, navigating various multiple MS Office applications; the ability to display multiple application across such a wide display cannot be beat. Regardless of the specs the hardware delivers.
Simply, I adore the 32:9 for what it does to workflows in addition (and outside of) how I use the monitor to game

I was in Micro Center the other day trying to decide what monitor I wanted to upgrade my 60hz Predator x34 with, and they had 10 of them in stock. When I went back the next day to pick one up (after doing a ton of research), there were only 8 left. So they sold THREE of these in one weekend. What sealed the deal for me was that they're the only company making a 38" wide-screen gaming monitor as of this posting. I will be using this while working from home and for gaming, and the 38" gives you the same height as a standard 27" monitor. So it's truly the best of both worlds. Of course the gaming features are nice for the weekends.

The Curious Noob It will be amazing. I use a C9 55 inch on my desk.
I went from a tn 24 inch 144hz and EVERYTHING is better. Motion blur and ghosting is nonexistent. Colour is amazing.
I was afraid that the dpi would be to low for me. I sit 60-80 cm (2 - 2 1/2 feet) from the tv. But the pixel substructure is a lot better then my old TN so even though the dpi is lower the perceived resolution is higher.
      Regarding 48 vs 55 inch
My C9 pulls dual duty, I live alone in my small apartment. 48 would be to small for watching movies. But 55 inches is not to big for gaming. Though using word or cad full screen can get quite overwhelming.

I was a bit apprehensive about the purchase, because: THE PRICE, but the reseller offered me a 90 day return window, no questions asked, so I figured out I'll give it a shot. It took me about a week to absolutely fall in love with it.
Now, after 6 months, I continue to use it as my main gaming monitor, and I hope to continue to enjoy it for years to come. My calculation is that the original $1,800 price divided by 6 years of use amounts to about $300 per year. If I settled for something lesser, I would be probably spending that much, if not more, on a yearly basis to incrementally up the monitor(s) on my gaming rig to enjoy the gaming experience, and none of the intermittent panels would likely come close to the quality and experience of the LG.
Yes, it's a Ferrari! In 6 years time it will be, well, a six year old car, but guess what? It'll still be a Ferrari.

I recently upgraded to an LG CX77 coming from the HP 65" BFGD. While the BFGDs are more expensive and have VA panels, they work flawlessly; hooked up to a PC or streaming over the network, superior gaming experience with GSync.
The picture quality is better on my LG CX but GameStream is worse for the time being as GSync isn't supported on the Shield Pro. Plugging my desktop to the LG wasn't any better due to the older HDMI 2.0 ports on my 1080ti. Once a new HDMI 2.1 Shield is released and RTX 3000 cards are out I expect the situation to change. Something to consider if you can find a BFGD on sale or are worried about OLED burn in.

This is why the 38wn95c is the better model imo. You get 10 bit color 120 hz, 144hz 8bit color, and hdr 600. The GL model here only has hdr 400 and 8 bit color. The only downside is the WN model is gsync compatible not native gsync, but not a big deal especially if you have the hardware to run games at high frame rates. I agree it's hard to spot the difference between 144hz and 120 UNLESS it's a fast paced shooter like overwatch or doom eternal, then it becomes quite noticible. So for competitive and fast paced shooters I will use 144hz and use 10 bit color 120hz for most other games. That 10 bit color will also give you a much better hdr experience.

Really expensive but at the same time i think this monitor will last you many many years. IPS, 175Hz, G-Sync Module, 1ms GtG. Really incredible specs. Even if they launch a higher refreshrate version in 1 year, you have to be able to drive it as well. With this monitor you need to hit 175 fps and that is currently not possible in most games with 2080Ti. And HDR is not that important i feel, if you want HDR1000 you usually need higher contrast and that means VA panels. And also sitting close to a HDR1000 monitor is crazy bright and tiring for the eyes. So yeah, expensive but this one is going to last for a long time i expect! (yes i have one ordered)

I was actually STILL paying for the first monitor after it had died but couldn't be assed to navigate RMA or the fact I couldn't get a hold of a human being. Ultimately I KNEW this would just lead to me wasting money on shipping only to be told "You somehow magically violated the warranty" Reminder that I was away for 4 days. Yes it was on but in sleep mode. I'll NEVER buy LG again or ANY "high end" ultrawide monitor for that matter. Fuck it, I'd rather eat it on $400 & lose half my viewing than $1,200 & lose it all.
