Tell me about it me to!!! Just turned 53 July 20 I'm catching up on all my Dokken love this man his voice his songs!!! And Dokken is on your hope they come to South Carolina 🤘🖤🎵🎸🎤🎶🤘
No one wrote more gut wrenching love songs than Donny. I feel for him, he must have had his heart broken more times than he deserved. Another masterpiece.
This disc is an absolute work of art. Everybody is at their very top. The musicanship is amazing and the songs are well-written, crafted and arranged. This record should have got a lot more recognition.
Time period and no Lynch its wrong but the Classic lineup was Musical Magic period . Im just now checking out some of Dokken's other incarnations . As a 30 yr Guitarist Lynch was one of my main influences . But Im open to all Guitarists .
Selmun, I am on your side! I absolutely love this album. I grew up with Dokken, love Lynch Mob, but something about this album strikes a cord deep down with me. Love Don! Love live Dokken!
Mick brown retired from drumming because he had arthritis to the point of where if he played drums he would feel like he was stabbed In all of his joints for a week. George did some shows with Don last year. Jeff is committed to working with foreigner. All the guys have basically moved on. Don still makes music but with a completely different lineup now. You should check out their album heaven comes down. One of the most kickass 80s rock albums to come out in years. Sounds like it could’ve came out in 90-91 and been a huge success.
What an amazing backup band ! Billy White from Watchtower, Peter Baltes from Accept, Mikkey Dee from King Diamond, Motörhead and Scorpions, and "The Man with the Golden Touch" John Norum, from Europe !!!!
If the record company had pushed this record...wow. Absolutely killer songwriting, melodies, groves, tone, as good or better than some, Dokken albums. Guitar work is killer, clean, and memorable. Still sounds fresh.
I think this album is better than any Dokken album that came AFTER it. While most of those albums had good songs on them, as a complete album, this one beats them all
The same thing with Lynch Mob’s Wicked Sensation, which was released 2 days after Don’s Up from the Ashes. MTV played their videos, but I don’t believe they were in heavy rotation, which they should have been. Both albums are great, and it’s a travesty they didn’t receive much record company support. . Of course, only a few months later record companies decided to abandon this genre, and instead shove Nirvana and Pearl Jam down our throats.
I heard this tour live (Syracuse) and met Don and Mikkey. Don's voice was never better and he was very dedicated to this album. Sadly, it never got promoted correctly (for a number of reasons) and reached the success it should have. Don signed some photos I had of him racing cars at Lime Rock Park (CT) for a celebrity event. It was a very powerful night. The band sounded superb. I used to play the album all the way through for at least a year after it came out.
Dude this has to be the best band ever assembled. Mikkey Dee on drums, Don Dokken singing, Peter Baltes on bass, and John Norum and Billy White on guitar. No band will ever eclipse this band as a "supergroup".
I think a huge part of my this album flew under the radar is because of the singles. Stay and Mirror Mirror are good songs in an album mostly full of masterpieces.
Let's us just take a moment to appreciate John Norum. He is literally on so many good records. Europe, Don Dokken, Dokken (Long Way Home), and probably best of all his solo albums. Total Control is a total banger
@@MathiasSteenJensen Norum has always been an incredible player . Way underrated just like billy white the other guitarist on this album ! Great combination in my opinion
John Norum...one of the best (but so so underrated). His first solo album "Total Control"(1987), really rocks, with "Back on the Streets", "Love is Meant to Last Forever", and other good tracks..Really nice guitarist. And of course, Don is DOKKEN..always good.
Don doesn’t possess the prototypical “metal” voice like Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie James Dio, Klaus Meine, Rob Halford or Geoff Tate. Yet Dokken’s songs have always had a real accessibility in large part because of his singing. I have long felt that Don Dokken has been under appreciated when great metal vocalists are discussed. There is a real warmth to his voice, and a real expressiveness to his singing. His phrasing is supreme. Dokken was the perfect band for its time. Don’s impassioned vocal performances, George Lynch’s muscular riffs and blistering leads, Jeff Pilson’s pounding bass line and outstanding backing vocals, and “Wild” Mick Brown’s driving drums serving as the beating heart of the band.
Back when you could go to the rock section at your local music store and pick any random album and it would have at least a couple of great songs on it. 🤘
This was my favorite song off the Up from the Ashes album i still have it and also have it on Cassette and CD. Plus digital Amazing Album Luv it till this day🐺
This is possibly Don's finest work to date.. Love this album.. great and carefully structured material that was so overlooked by the critics. Beautiful vocals and phenomenal guitar work by j norum and billy white. This brings back so many good memories for me
I'd disagree with you on this being his best work to date... if it wasn't for the fact that it's my favorite of Don's work as a musician. Actually I still disagree, while it is my favorite of his work it's still not his best.
I love Dokken, they are Awesome. I love Don's voice, I can listen to them over and over again no matter how many times I've heard the song. I love the music. Back when Dokken was Dokken ❤
John Norum is a great guitarist but Billy White is great as well and the unsung 'hero' behind the sound of this entire disc. I wish that they could have done a follow up to this album!!
MAGIC. seriously. the best of the genre. and this album is awesome. don's vox are shot now but he still sounds good on record and remains an amazing writer. i love all hard rock and metal but always come back to Dokken.
Great song from a wonderful album. I hate that Don had his heart broken. However some of the best songs come from real life. I am so happy for him and his significant other. Many well wishes and privacy to them both!
Had this tape during Operation Desert Storm. Listened to it hundreds of times on my Walkman when I could get AA batteries. It will always take me back to the Spring of 1991 in Saudi Arabia.
I think this album is scientific evidence that proves that Dokken is Don Dokken. The classic lineup is still tops but it's more for emotional reasons. Don is the driving force in songs like this that are unmistakingly Dokken and yet everybody is MIA except Don. And nothing suffers. Nobody and nothing is missed.
Why doesn't anybody consider the fact that Dokken had success with Lynch's playing style Ava riffs and after the breakup he simply knew he had to create a similar sound, why else would the guitarists try to copy Lynch's style? Lol
@@lrn_news9171 Because that style is Don's style, not Lynch's, why else would George not play like he did in Dokken the moment he is no longer part of Dokken, but Dokken's guitar players consistently sound somewhat like Lynch. That hard yet melodic drive is just the sound that Don likes, and wants in his music.
@@lrn_news9171 Not only did Don solely write Into the Fire, George hates that song. Try to fit that fact into your hypothesis. Forget about leads that’s George of course. Don is the guy writing the riffs in Dokken that everybody thinks is Lynch. This is why Lynch Mob and all of George’s non-Dokken material has no Dokken sounding riffs. It was Don!
@@Explorer766 Oh sure, guess wrote Dream Warriors? One of the most Dokken sounding songs ever, their biggest hit single. Lynch and Pilsen. Lynch wrote most of the riffs in Dokken, he had a very distinct style of writing riffs and it's clearly mostly him.
Been a Dokken fan Since 1983. 51 years old and they still kick ass.
Same HERE!!!😊
even with the new band up.
Me too but I love classic Dokken I haven’t listened to their newer songs.

LOL well we really are brothers then!
I agree -- It's a masterpiece!!! Every single song on it is classic Dokken.
Don Dokken has always been an under rated talent that has always been over looked. He is a brilliant song writer and singer!
Tooth and Nail is my fav album, wats ur opinion
@@Johnyc321Under Lock and Key for now ❤
This album is so great and underrated. Don Dokken at it's best!
If this album was 2 years before it was released, it would have gotten the recognition it deserved.
Billy White and John Norum. Great pairing of players.
One of the best hard rock albums ever.
That guitar solo wow a whirl wind of emotion
Unofficially the 5th Dokken album. Great songs. Great band. Wish they would do one reunion show.

Stunning album. The standard of the guitar playing on this was through the roof. Don was well on form and the songs. Class. 😊
This is a Masterpiece Album!!!!!
man, I forgot about this tune... what a great song
It's not like Don to ask a girl to stay. Usually he's trying to tell her to walk away or jump in a fire.
god you're sickening
mskittie30 It's a play on Don's lyrics. LOL
Brent Woolard I know...it's sickening
No, he was joking. :-)
