It’s not that I think, it’s now or never. If you missed them and let them walk pass you and there is no 2PM or Exo and so many kpop artists ppl loved seeing.
This is not uncommon. I read EXO's Sehun was harassed by an SM casting agent for 30 minutes until he finally accepted her business card. He was only 12 and tried to run away because his mother had told him not to talk to strangers, but this grown-ass woman kept chasing after him. 😬 Creepy, but a lot of idols are scouted like this.

@@vancho8048 Yeah a lot of idols (especially the older ones) were scouted at young ages. You can even see other members celebrating them graduating from school, that’s how young they are. JK from BTS went through his graduation with the group and talks about how he’s a mix of all members since he was basically raised by them in his teen years. I remember watching him go through his “emo/rock phase” 🤣

So many others' stories go like "hey, I know you're 10 y/o and I'm a random stranger on the street, but you're pretty, wanna be a singer?"

If I’m being honest the old kpop idol casting is pretty weird, especially the ones at the age of like 11-14, like no matter how good looking the idols are now they just looked like regular kids where I wouldn’t go like wow, the person is going to be extremely good looking in 3 years when they hit puberty
The current kpop idol casting is weird af too? No matter how you go about it there's no way you can make approaching a random kid on the street and going "hey kid u look pretty nice wanna perform for me" not creepy as hell
Because the most important to be the old kpop idols are their talent. But now, the most important to be idols are looks.
I remember whem Key shared his audition's story after he listened to Sehun and Baekhyun's story. He said in the past he have to knocked the agency's door and desperately begged to give him chance and he promised to do his best. Also the leader of Super Junior's story about how SJ was a temporary group. If the group didn't make it, the agency will end it. You know, Shindong SJ is not slim as an idol. There's no like Shindong in current kpop idols. Yesung and Ryewook were not really have the idols visual. But their vocals are the best. Their highnote and vocal range are wide.

@@jchen8902 I feel like I rarely hear about people being randomly selected from the street anymore. Form my knowledge the latest idol who was actually street casted and became a big idol was Ryujin, even the. That was probably in 2014-16.
I’m pretty sure most big labels just do casting from auditions or something-maybe they still do old style street casting, but I haven’t heard many stories of it. And kpop has rapidly changed each year starting form 2015-2020. Especially with the rapid rise of social media.
Not a story about Korea but apparently a lady came to talk to my sister like this when she was getting off the bus and my sister ran away. I can't stop thinking about it after listening to all these casting stories.

I don’t understand something about kpop industry… so as long as you’re handsome you can become a singer ? I heard so many stories about idols being recruited on the street
well yeah pretty much because kpop groups have “positions” which means that every member is responsible for one thing(like: main vocal, main dancer, visual, center, etc.). They’re also casted super young so that they can train for 3-5 years and get good at singing and dancing before they debut..
That’s pretty much the industry. You have to be good looking.

Literally these agencies do some sketchy af things to get trainees lmao. Chasing or persuading young boys and girls just barely at the age of 12 in public is apparently normal. I would be hella creeped if someone came and is forcing me to go get auditioned. Hyunjin from skz was grabbed in mall , sehun from exo was chased for 30 minutes by the company lady?? I think until he agreed to audition, note that he was like 12 or 13💀💀💀 It might sound hilarious later reminiscing but any kid would be scared if this happened to them and it's just sounds very strange to me.

Shinee’s Minho was scouted by SM Entertainment like this as well, but more extreme. A casting agent coincidentally ran into him while they were at a ski lodge. She gave him her business card and SM proceeded to harass his family with phone calls non stop. His parents ignored it because they thought it was a scam. They only accepted the audition when the casting agents showed up to Minho’s high school.
