I wish my driving teacher was as calm and explained as much as you. I find the thing you do with the clutch and gas pedal incredibly hard, but no one has ever told me to watch the RPMs. This sonds like a good advice to beginners who are still trying to find their way around the car. For the first time I actually cannot wait to try this and see if I could start moving without shutting the car off a couple of times in a row.
Haha most people never watch the RPM gauge even when I first started driving (Never driven an auto never will) I never looked it it, I grew up riding dirt bikes. Well motorcross bikes have nothing in the way of gauges so you’re already used to listening to the engine. Gauges can fail but engine sound’s won’t. I was really little when I started driving so I didn’t even know there was an RPM gauge till my mother told me
Exactly and I actually like that advice. Not one of my teachers ever taught me that. They just said when I feel it I will know and I genuinely didn't understand.
I've only done 2 lessons but honestly wanted to cry last time because my brain just isn't comprehending the clutch really. At least not in practice when there's a million and one things to think about. This is so helpful. Thank you.

Big props. You're the only one who actually tells to hold the clutch in for a sec before lifting it. My instructor didn't and as a result the car always kicked at first until i realized by myself what to do.
I am currently doing lessons (only had 2), but I can't believe my instructor hasn't said anything like that either. When I asked why the car moved like that the instructor (and everyone I would ask when asking doing little trials before my official lessons) would always just say the same thing - you're coming off the clutch too quickly. I don't know what version of English these people are speaking compared to me but 'quickly' doesn't mean or imply 'without pausing'. If anything saying you come off it too quickly makes you think slow but continous is what you should be doing - which is still not correct 🙄

I’ve watched several videos like this and always ended up feeling lost, confused and just not understanding.. for the first time I can happily say this has taught me what to actually do. I rewatched several times then went out with my mum for a quick practice drive and genuinely haven’t seen such an improvement in my driving before . Thankyou so much ! Brilliant video 👍👍👍👍
Coming back to this video to say that I just got my first car today and I was surprised how confident I felt driving it, that's because I watched most of your videos on manual car driving. Cheers.
I’ve been wanting to learn for years but my first and second time was traumatic cause my dad screamed at me saying I can’t drive cuz the car kept stalling. I finally got a car and now I HAVE to learn so this has been very helpful. Can’t wait to try it out and see if I get the hang of it
My best advice is to take your time and do everything extra slowly when you're starting out. That way to you will give your body and mind time to learn the car.
I was having fun until I realize I have to drive with the steering wheel at the right as I live in Europe so... I watch it all! It was really amazing, thanks.
Yes whenever my dad teaches me how to drive his manual my leg starts to wobble like mad 😅 it's kinda nerve racking cos u dont know what's happening or If I like know if u did it right or not
Was driving yesterday with my father and i kept lifting the clutch to early the whole time, then this video randomly pops up in my recommendations thank you👏🏾. Update i finally learned how to drive thanks for the help although i struggled to balance the clutch and the gass i finally got thank you once again.
I'm about to start driving lessons, and before all that I wanted to fully understand how to use the clutch pedal, how it relates to the gas pedal, and the "tricks" you need to know to get the car started. This video was perfectly clear about it, and having the three cameras recording in real time really helps a lot. Thank you so much!
Here’s a tip: definately don’t try to practice driving a car on a day where you’re stressed or have not eaten at all,it might disturb your concentration.
What if knowing that you'll have to practise that day makes you stressed? xD I've been driving around with my dad for a couple of months now and it's going alright, but I'm always stressed out beforehand.
Another piece of advice I figured out on my own - When you are first learning to drive a manual, wear sandals. Doesn't matter if it's cold, wear socks with your sandals if you have to. It's much easier to find the bite point if your footwear has thin soles. In the first few days of learning to drive a manual, I was wearing regular shoes, and I kept stalling and bucking non-stop. I couldn't feel the bite point. Then on a whim, I decided to wear sandals. Like magic, the bite point became very obvious, and I instantly stopped stalling and bucking. So, wear sandals, it'll make your life easier.
Over the years I've learned to drive stick thrice, in 2 countries lol. So believe me when I say that this is the most comprehensive, & at the same time easiest lesson I've ever had.
Thank you man, you taught me how to drive in an Automatic when I first got my Ls, and to always give way to the right or anyone on the roundabout! Now you're teaching me how to drive in manual! You're saving lives here man, truly.
I had my third driving lesson today, and my clutch control was terrible this lesson. My instructor was very frustrated with me and her frustration made my driving worse. Thank you for this video, it calmed me a lot.❤
Thanks a lot. I can drive manual now. I used to continuously release the clutch like people said. Your holding the bite point technique worked the best
I had to come back to this video just to say that these videos really helped me learn manual. I had my first manual car dropped off to me and without any prior lessons I started practicing moving on my driveway and stalled a few times (as expected) but I started to get the hang of it and after that driving and shifting gears was easy. I always remembered these videos and the tips/advice you give and it really helped and also saved me about $300(nzd) to take manual driving lessons! :D
This gives me anxiety about my first lesson. Took me eight hours to be able to use the clutch properly without jerking the car...didn't help I was on a hill...now I drive F1 cars. On a console. So much easier.
I've known all these basics, but u explain things so nicely, the left foot not being planted after finding the biting point was my mistake, either planted it too early not being able to fully lift off the clutch when i need to, or i didn't plant it at all causing my left foot to be unstable on the clutch. Absolutely something in here for every single beginner. Class video mate!
Now I'm a lot older than most people learning to drive and am only starting lessons soon. But this has been a great video to show how the peddles interact with each other. thanks!
I had my first driving lesson today !! it was so scary but also so fun- this video is a great recap of my lesson.. my biggest issue was braking. I kept hitting the clutch too early and too slowly and then hitting the brakes too fast🤦♀️
Thank you SO MUCH for this video 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I'm currently in week 2 in driving school and during practicals, balancing between the clutch & accelerator pedals always gets me in a fix. This guide will change my practice A LOT. God bless you!!! 🙏🏽💃🏽
My dad always said that the increase and decrease with gas and clutch was gradual. The way described here was much more in line with what I imagined the gears doing.
I learned how to drive an automatic awhile ago and wanted to learn how to drive a manual, gave up because I could never get the takeoff smooth, would stall all the time, and had no idea what I was doing wrong. Decided to try again after watching some of your videos, and not only have I not stalled since picking it back up but all of my takeoffs and gear changes are super smooth. A true testament to the quality of your teaching that I went from not being able to drive a manual at all to driving smoothly and even having fun just by watching your videos. Thank you so much!
Have had 2 lessons so far, decided to watch some videos as per my teacher's recommendation - this helped a lot, thank you! From watching your feet moving I can see how the clutch routine becomes second nature over time, even tho it's really confusing rn lol
It was my first day today I just cried, having to balance and to learn how to operate the clutch and control the other paddles. 😢 But this video was helped me to ease up, it was way better than my instructor
I'm watching this nearly 2 months after I passed the driving exam and six weeks after I bought the car and got on the roads! We have winter now and I'm having trouble getting car to move smoothly. So thank you for this video!
I got my license in the Netherlands so i learned how to drive a manual car at my driving school, but still a cool video! Glad to see i'm using the clutch right
I want to tank you for taking the time to make these videos, thanks to you I learned how to drive my manual car. I don’t stall anymore and you gave me the confidence to learn. Thank you
@@Todsor it isn't car specific, every manual car you put your clutch in to then change gear, as the clutch acts as a blocker from your hear falling in and out of where it should be, imagine all gears are closed, once you put the clutch in all gears open, like doors, then once the clutch is out, all gears closed again 👍
I already have a full license but I'm learning manual on a brand new car I bought with stick shift. Your videos are incredibly helpful, your way of explaining things is easy to understand and immensely helps me. Keep up the great work.
This is so helpful, I've just gotten old enough to start learning to drive with my parents and I've already been doing it once, tomorrow I'm gonna practice again with my dad and one thing I'm gonna take with me from this video that I didn't do correctly last time was that I pulled the clutch all the way and didn't hold it in position when starting the car. Thanks alot for the tips! ❤️

Wow this was so easy to understand and comprehend ! I bought myself a 01 civic ex as a Christmas gift and haven't driven many in over a year so and felt like I was struggling a bit to get the hang of the gears and the peddle but this video made it so easy to get understand. @@ConquerDriving at first it was going on well. Now, I have difficulties when I arrive a junction because of fear i guess. Failing at every junction makes me feel so bad
There is sooo many helpful things in this video. I always used to add gas after finding the bite point and all the take offs were jumpy now I move smoooooth😎
So happy to hear this. I hate it when instructors teach to get the bite point first as it makes it harder to feel the bite point without gas and when you get your own vehicle it may stall or struggle to move.
I already know those things, but still watching as it is always a real treat 🙂 Thank you for another great job and the view from different cameras, that really means a lot. Also speaking just right, not to slow at all 👍🏻

You the real mvp for this
I think the point should be to hold the clutch and breaks down because if your car is positioned downhill, it could go free due to clutch engagement.
You should never start that way, the proper way is finding the bite point, give it gas as you slowly let go of the clutch.
I passed my driving test from just continuously watching your videos. thank you so much 🥺

This is better than the driving instructor I have in driving school who just yells & not tell me proper technique
How are you doing now with your driving skills Kristina ?
I was having fun until I realize I have to drive with the steering wheel at the right as I live in Europe so... I watch it all! It was really amazing, thanks.
In India, it's right hand driving 😎
I also live in Europe but here the steering wheel is at the left lol
@@Visnetter 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ireland is in Europe and they drive on the left. Anyway I think you mean the steering wheel is in the left and you drive on the right?
For your information and education : The UK is in Europe.
Anyone gets their leg shaking when lifting the clutch SLOWLY? 😂
This is very common for beginners.

Thank you and you're welcome.
@@ConquerDriving I am nervous about my driving lesson but this is helping. Any advice pls :) x
@@bethanyleonard5766 keep calm and remember whenever you want to slow down the car , make sure to hit the clutch first before the brake pedal
@@bethanyleonard5766 also remember to put pressure when you want to shift your gear from 1 to 2, that way you will be more easy to pass than fail
Here’s a tip: definately don’t try to practice driving a car on a day where you’re stressed or have not eaten at all,it might disturb your concentration.
Good advice.

So believe me when I say that this is the most comprehensive, & at the same time easiest lesson I've ever had.
i see im not the only one thinking "yeah ok i should really pop on youtube that first lesson was terrifying"
.. totally not alone.😅
Thank you man, you taught me how to drive in an Automatic when I first got my Ls, and to always give way to the right or anyone on the roundabout! Now you're teaching me how to drive in manual! You're saving lives here man, truly.
About to do my first driving lesson after lockdown. This helped me feel less nervous 😅 thanks
I wish you good luck 🤞
it's a lesson, not a test, nothing to be nervous about yet lol
@@QuantumNetwork Wish I felt that way! Maybe I should have said anxious, just wish I had more confidence

i know that feelin and then you end up forgetting some steps
I know...same thing happened to me😢😢
Thanks a lot.

I was struggling with lifting clutch smoothly and it turns out my heel was in a wrong position! Thanks for the tip 🥰
You're welcome ☺ happy to help.
This gives me anxiety about my first lesson. Took me eight hours to be able to use the clutch properly without jerking the car...didn't help I was on a hill...now I drive F1 cars.

This was recommended even though I've held my license for 3 years. Still enjoyed it though
Thank you.
I've learned so much more from this video than 20 hours of driving lessons. Thank you so much man you are amazing!

I know I should be paying attention...
But this is what I'm actually watching: 1:26

@@ConquerDriving Do you really have to press the clutch down for gears after 2nd? Or is it car specific?
@@Todsor it isn't car specific, every manual car you put your clutch in to then change gear, as the clutch acts as a blocker from your hear falling in and out of where it should be, imagine all gears are closed, once you put the clutch in all gears open, like doors, then once the clutch is out, all gears closed again 👍
I already have a full license but I'm learning manual on a brand new car I bought with stick shift.
