The most eloquent, wise woman America has ever produced. Even in 2020 I am awed by her words and reminded of the America we demonstrated in this moment.

I could listen to hours upon hours of her speaking. The eloquence and wisdom, the timber of her voice, the emphasis she places on her words - its amazing. She's probably THE single best speaker of our time.

Here I am, a man in his 50s crying like a baby watching this video, especially listening to Maya Angelou. I cry out of such pride in the heights that humans can achieve as well as despair at how fast we can fall from grace. And still it is with hope that I look to the future not for myself but for my children's and their children's.

This woman (Maya Angelou) was (and always will be) a national treasure who had a profound impact on me as a young girl. I named my daughter after her, she will be 9 next month. ✨✨💜

Sweet sweet sweet, that moment. Dr. Maya's words spoke for that time so perfectly. I savor it, when the ashes of 2020 fill my mouth. We MUST redeem this country's promise in 78 days.

And the whole world was so damn proud of you for electing this black man, so cool and genuinely compassionate. He tried his best to pass laws for the people and by the people.. like healthcare and gun laws, but greedy people in Congress and Senate also had equal power to block some of those from happening. That was the regret.

James Baldwin, who passed on in the late 1980s, would have been SO so proud to high heaven by Obama’s election to the highest and most powerful office on the planet. Baldwin in the mid-60s said the country would get its first Black President in about 4 decades.

I'm so glad UA-cam brought me this interview. There was so much happinesses, hope then. Smith's admiration of Angelou is so obvious. Perfect person to do this interview. Angelou described Obama as possessing 'common sense'. She is absolutely correct. That's what he had in spades. Made him see everything so clearly and he acted and spoke with common sense. He is sorely missed in the Oval Office. And I'm not American.

I never looked at intelligence the way she saw it until now.. intelligence is packaged with common sense . Something that is lacking greatly these days especially among our leaders.. Being educated doesn't mean ure intelligent unless you possess common sense.

new735758 yeah, but I just don’t like someone patting themselves on the back for Obama’s election when they were one of many people who tried to stop that from happening by endorsing their opponent.

    • @SweetSoulBrother0

@@motec8222 I dont feel like she was patting herself on the back for Obama's win. She was clearly sincere in how proud she was that he had won. The planets had to align for Obama to win, if someone had bet me in 2006 that we'd elect a black president in two years time I would not take that bet.
