However, this very fun and rare 2.a3 wing gambit for white has incredible results against the Sicilian Defense - I have a 74% win rate in my own online games in this gambit line against the Sicilian so I can confidently say you will have a lot of success with it. I have a 100% win rate with the a3 Sicilian out of 10 games so far,it’s completely busted.
Even if the opponent knows what they are doing at worst you’ll be equal but it’s way more likely you’ll blow them off the board or get an advantage.
Pretty much yeh, it's so powerful
1.e4 c5 2.a3 Nc6 3.b5 Nf6! =/+ Dont take that pawn! 2...g6 is also OK, but is a mess if white launches a Harry attack.
I love seeing g6 tbh, Nf6 is definitely more challenging imo, I always push b5 if that sort of thing happens
That would have been a lovely game. I think the key idea in the middle there was to push e5-e6 (even if you lose that pawn) and give yourself an e5 square. Who needs pawns!

I've played alot of Alapin variations but I never have that one much time. That was a really good game. Surprised he put the knight on h6 in a rapid game but from that point on it was downhill for him.
I guess he just didn't know what to do with the Knight otherwise, maybe an early f6 was better

Haha yeh that's how I learned it, I used to play the grand prix, and did in a classical game recently pretty successfully tbf
