The SNP Government's Scottish Child Payment is in its 3rd year and effectively mitigates/cancels out Torie & Labour UK Government's 2 child benefit cap here.
My thoughts exactly, I'm a similar age (1978) and my childhood was ruined by the Tories as a gay son of a Skinhead BNP member. Section 28, underfunded social services, huge gaps in the financial safety net. (When I was kicked out at 16 I was only entitled to claim benefits if my parents confirmed they had thrown me out and I hadn't left voluntarily. It would also allow them to find out where I was.)
I know people like to rag on the Blair/Brown government, but *that* was when I started to see life improve. Minimum wage, access to further education, and (as I later found out when I became a Jobcentre Under 18s Personal Advisor) being able to contact any relevant adult to verify the young person's claim.
Kermit's supercilious tone, smug attitude, and clear misjudgement about her success in the part time roles she "fulfilled" in government (footnote) would be enough to prevent her from getting anywhere near an official role in any serious party. Even the milk monitor would be too much for her.
But she's a 21st Century Conservative Party member, a shining star, and leading candidate for leader of the opposition. Brace yourselves folks, the future doesn't look great. 🤦
(footnote: Part Time Minister for Women and "Equalities" who still hasn't produced a report into any of the 3 public consultations she ran about conversion therapy, who doesn't believe in institutional racism, and who's active loathing of queer and trans people was public.)

What happed at the general election wasn't a fluke, the UK worked together to get them out of power, and shall continue working together to do so again and again for the rest of our lives. This isn't a "political cycle", your party is done, you're wasting your time, get a proper job.

In the last 100 years since the 1924 election,
Labour have been in government just 36 years, 36% of the time.
Very few of them could do a "proper job".
These Tories cannot handle being in opposition. This vapid, self-congratulatory and patronising speech comes just a few days after another minister was told by the speaker that they were behaving 'Abominably' for standing up while the Labour minister was speaking.
Poor little rich boys and girls, already a week in with no attention and they're coming apart.

TBH I found it very difficult to watch and am surprised at how this behaviour was allowed.
Even if I was an avid Tory voter, I'd never vote for a party that had her as its leader. She's so rude, patronising, and arrogant - like an adolescent bully. There's no need for that sort of behaviour in politics, and I hate it, whichever side it comes from.
