amazing advice! i would always run ads for like 2 days and shut them off after 2-3clicks thinking this is waste of money since all i get is 2 3 clicks with $1 and nothing else... guess i'll keep the ads running for 2-3weeks with a smaller budget and see how it optimizes. thank you for the suggestions
It’s important not to make conclusions when you’ve only ran the advertisement for a small amount of time. If you have the luxury, I would run it for two weeks before making the decision on any particular actions
I personally run ads on all my listings. When you start off, Etsy dose not know what your listing is until it introduces your listing to customers. And based on customers interaction with your listing, it will start to narrow over time to keywords that will generate better results. It will start broad at the beginning, and if you did your keywords and tags correctly, it will become more targeted. Also if your listing and your store has no reviews or very little, that will also be a factor on how much your spending vs selling. But if it is a high selling product, you should see an increase in profit and decrease in ad cost percentage.
@@thetalkshop Thank you for the quick response. I have used ads for a long time, I just think I could be getting more return from it. I am improving my shop every single day. I work hard to make my shop look its best. But u know the feeling when you think you could be doing better ? lol
I had my store for over 2 years (only 167 sales so far) and my earlier listings were not the best in terms of seo, as I’ve been learning while going along. I tried ads but didn’t work, I did all listings and also tried just a few. Why did the ads not work? Could it be because of the bad seo on older listings? could that be affecting my shops rank and score?
I have a question about this. What if I already rank in the first page of my niche? And if I am being found for my top keywords? Would the ads play some effect?
Thanks for this! I have about 400 listings with a variety of quilted and fabric items. Would you recommend me advertising one item from every section? So I’m getting at least one type of item out there that they can later discover more like that?
Hello..Great Ideas. I found a keyword ''Mega Eclectic'' and It ranks me number one in Art Prints after paid ads. But I think I should find something more..
I watching your videos lots and lots of times. I want to learn more and more to grow my shop. thank you for your videos! I'm have more than 700 listings but only 50 or little more get more than 2 clicks ( I rewrite the question here because it's the more correct video ;-) )

The translations are so bad! On the other hand i would like to have it so everyone can understand it. Do you have a solution?
Etsy now allows me to spend up to $1025 daily. But on average I spend anywhere from $300-400. Etsy only has that much available traffic during Christmas season.
@@RenataCarlos Overtime as you’re putting more products into your store, and Etsy recognizes that there are more keywords that it can rank you for and sell to more customers, that number should increase. Especially during Christmas time you will see an increase in that number, because more customers are going online, and you’re able to spend that whole amount much faster, which means that will give you more opportunity to spend. But you would need to be able to spend $100 before it gives you the ability to spend more. As far as whether you should spend it or not, lol I don’t want to be liable for any financial decisions, but If your product has proper keyword research, and you know there is a high traffic to what you’re selling, and it looks good, you should definitely explore that option.
Hey this is a great video! I have a question, the products I sell are all one off products (bespoke crystal trees) so each time they sell the listing is over, will this put me at a disadvantage with the algorithm?
Etsy should let the seller take control of the relevancy of keywords. With Exact match, phrase match and negative keywords like Google and other platforms do. My listings come up on irrelevant keywords and I cannot do anything about it besides let it go and waste money or turn off the ads.
how many listings should you have before running ads-- Is it better to start running ads when you first open shop and only have 5 listings? Or is it ideal to wait until you upload 20+ listings?
He creat video, can you make a video on what ratio you turn ads off? And how long do you run them before u decide to turn them off. Well thanks so far greats from The Netherlandse
I started my store using ads. I got 4 sales within the first few days. I thought I was off to the races..........and then, nothing!....I add new products every day, I now have 90 listings. Any idea why there was interest on the first few days, and then nothing?
I wouldnt have a problem investing all my profits on ads because I know that will give more returns in the future. But my shop has about 5 weeks, I spent 50$ on ads and only have 1 sale of 25$, so at this point I'm losing money so I reduced my budget.
Totally agree. I think it’s a certain amount of money that we need to set aside to advertise, if you’re profitable, 100 bucks, I would recommend to set aside 25 of those for advertisement
I increased my ad budget on Etsy in February to its max. So far, I feel like I’ve only broken even if I take into account costs and fees associated with making and selling my products - so basically no profit. Currently I have only select listings on ads (maybe 100 out of 1000 products). From other sources giving advice, I advertise only items that are currently selling well and new items.m in an effort to give them a boost. Do you recommend advertising all of my listings? I’m not sure if I’m seeing the worth as of now - is it too soon to tell? Etsy Ads are so confusing to me because there’s so much conflicting information out there.
Also, one more question 😅 Though I have ads on the max, I felt match was the first time my shop hasn’t seen growth. I started last April and have slowly increased revenue each month - except this past month which was the same as February. I was able to get to $93k revenue over the last twelve months but it seems to have slowed which has me a bit worried. So far April is starting out slow as well which makes me nervous. Because ads have increased my views but did not increase conversion, can this affect my shop negatively? I’m not sure if my question makes sense. 😬 I’m just trying to troubleshoot why March and April seem like they’ve slowed down instead of grown like previous months.
Good question, I reduced how much listings I advertise. I use to be all about invest now to benefit later, but I feel the virality nature of the algorithm it doesn’t make sense anymore. I went from advertising 80 listings to only 15. I’m more continuous about being profitable then I use to. I’m the first two to three weeks I’m ok not being as profitable but week 3-4 I then make a decision based on if it’s profitable or not. I also am moving faster in regards to adding new products to my store, this helps me find better profitable products
@@thetalkshop thanks for the info and for taking the time to respond. Tomorrow I’ll go through my listings on ads and start to narrow it down more to see it it helps. Thank you 😊

Your advertisement listing also has to rank, if it has a difficult time ranking on the keywords that are available on your listing, then you will be limited in how much you will spend. advertising is a boosted version of ranking. I would either improve the quality of the listing, if you just started selling it, or try advertising a different listing on your shop.
