I've spent so much money on sites that are supposed to "help you get great seo" but have seen no changes but money wasted. This video is amazing!
Hi Mystic good to hear from you. The problem with all these sites is:
1 Their data is not from Etsy, and is inaccurate
2 All sites make the fundamental mistake of not understanding how ranking works, it does not come from SEO at all.
I opened my shop one month back and really believed in my unique design but I was mostly repeating keywords which is a huge mistake that I just learnt from you. Thank you!

I applied this method to a few listings late last night. On the kne that I looked at this am, my views increased by 8 in less than 12 hours 9pm-9am on a weekend. That might seem small but I'm pretty amazed.

You went into the depth and detail of SEO like no one did before, at least to my knowledge. Thank you for sharing this with us. I started less than two weeks ago and have listed about 50 items so far. From now on I would be using your strategy on the new listings. At the same time I would be changing my previous tags, titles few at a time. I am sure this is going to work.
Hi Sabhrang, and thanks for your kind words. Yes make sure you list SLOWLY, 50 in 2 weeks is way too fast, list 1 a day, and get to 100 items.

@@janettewillingham1590 Longer activity in your Etsy store, and more importantly if you list slowly then you are able to use proper listing management much much easier than if you list all over the place at different speeds.

Very helpful. Here’s a question, though: Regarding Etsy titles does it make any difference whether we use or not use commas, dashes, or any other limiter? Does using a comma break up the way Etsy “reads” the title? If commas are not used then it becomes possible to have many search terms in one title if you see what I’m getting at?
Would LOVE to know this... I've heard and seen people be successful using commas and not using them at all.

Hi there! This is brilliant and very helpful. But I’m having a hard time translating the “what” and “where” for my coffee mugs and other home goods since they’re really just meant for home use. Any suggestions?
Just do your best Hilary, sometimes some items you sell wont have all 5 W's.
Possible whats:
Caffeine/tea, hot drink (tough one)
Possible wheres:
New home gift, housewarming, kitchen diner, summerhouse

@@etsyconsultant oh I just thought of one more thing… what are your thoughts on trending aesthetic niches that the young folks are all about (I’m pretty young but not that trendy so I’m just learning about them). Think “cottagecore”, “light/dark academia”… a new one I found that I got some traction with is “bookish” for my reading themed mugs.
Do you think these trends are worth following and working into your keywords? I’m just worried they come and go pretty quickly and it might backfire if a term goes out of style.

Can you go into a video that goes more in depth on tags? This video was incredibly helpful with the tiles, but lacking more information regarding tags. Who, What, Where, When and Why sure that helps, but when you look at housewarming gift for her the qty of items that come up are overwhelming.

This is such a different style compared to what everyone else teaches for Etsy SEO, especially for tags! They come out reading so strangely. I'm going to give this method a whirl though on all new items I list. Curious to see if it will improve anything in my shop. How does using alt tag before you get sales on the item hurt your listing? Thanks!
Hi Karen, so when you are new to selling on Etsy, you want to build organic traffic and sales (quality score), before opening up your items to be found on the search engines.
Otherwise you might start to make sales EXTERNALLY via google, and then think your store is producing these sales from WITHIN Etsy which is not the case.
You then have no idea what Etsy customers thinks of your products, and might not develop your store for those customers.
As soon as you are making regular sales you can open up alt tags, that is my advice.

Hi Edith, I do not have time to do this, but the video shows you how you need to be thinking for your own tags.
Also, you can find them in etsy search by typingthe first keyword or two and seeing what Etsy suggests for you.

Just starting out and I didn't think of this at all. Of course, it's obvious after you tell me, but I was just using the tags that came with the t-shirt from the dropshipper, which are of course rubbish (not blaming the dropshipper - blaming myself). Seems so obvious now, but I was concentrating on coming up with ideas and interesting designs, never really thought about how potential customers were going to find me. Thank you for showing me how to improve my chances.

Hi MJ, it depends on your needs. The way I work with my clients is I put their store through my 12 point audit system which will highlight all the failing areas in your store. We will then go through all the failing points step by step, and I will tell you how to fix them which will improve your sales.
