I ended up making a couple of these nightstands, and they came out better than I could have imagined! Thank you Angela
That is so great to hear, thank you for sharing!!🙂
I guess I'm pretty off topic but does anybody know of a good website to stream newly released tv shows online ?
I really love this design - it looks very sturdy and substantial without looking clunky. I also love especially the stain combo you used on the pine.
Thank you very much!
Great video. Thinking of doing this. Thank you.
That is a beautiful build. Great job.
Angela, your night stands came out great and they sure beat the heck out of that college day furniture. Thanks for Sharing!
That is great to hear, thank you!
I really LOVE those end tables!
Thank you very much!!
Very nice job, I would sand and glue as well for extra strength and longevity. I'm building a similar stand a little taller and out of Oak.
Beautiful nightstand! Love the style! I will try to do the same.
Thank you!
really smart idea with the paint sticks holding up the panel in place. Genius trick, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I am so thankful for you posting this. I can diy many things and am always looking for ideas. My wife wanted me to build her nightstands with a drawer, but I havent built a drawer yet. Your instructions could jot be clearer and so easy to follow. One of the first plans i followed and it was so enjoyable to follow a “recipe” and just enjoy the process. I made one and will be making a video for our youtube to show the second one and will definitely be sharing your channel and your links because it was perfect.
Thanks for all of the hard work. Its very appreciated.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad to hear that!!
I love this
Thanks Angela
I’ve been researching how to build something like this out of cherry or walnut. Thanks!
Very welcome!
You're a highly talented person. I enjoy watching your videos, clear instructions with such a beautiful voice. Great work!
this is an excellent video-i’m about to start my first build 🙈thx so much.
Me encantó el diseño y la forma en que explicas todo es increíble, gran video!!!!
Muchas gracias!
I downloaded your plans and ended up building something very similar to this, although I did change the design of the lower shelf. Overall this is a great-looking project that is pretty easy to make. I attached the top with figure eight fasteners instead of pocket holing and gluing the top - I would definitely recommend doing that, because the top can still expand and contract laterally with seasons. You are correct that 14" bottom-mount drawer slides would work with these dimensions - that's what I ended up doing.
That is really great to hear, thank you so much for sharing!!
Beautiful
Thank you!
Beautiful job! As a woodworker I am always looking for new ideas and I must say Angela you did an incredible job. Enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much, Bill!
Very pretty!
Thank you! 😊
Amazing! That was easy
Thank you!
Very nice build. Will try it this weekend
Awesome!!!
Nice project. I was skeptical of pocket screws but they really hold and look great.
people who dont know about carpentry are the one having a second thought about pocket holes, they dont really know the power of this joinery even old woodworkers use this.
aye built this looks great thank you .
Thanks!
thanks for the detailed tutorial!
Happy it was helpful!
Nice job! I love it!
Thanks!
Fantastic job
Thank you very much!
I have seen tons of videos ..... but none this clear....and precise ....great job.... this is my next project
Thank you so much!
Great job !!!
Thank you!!😄
Cool tutorial!!!👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
@ 2:10 I think with the kreg jig you want to set your depth to the material you are drilling into. Then, select your screw length for the material you are screwing into. So, you still want to set your drill depth at 1 1/2", but since you are now screwing into 3/4", you will select an 1 1/4" screw instead of the 2 1/2". I hope that makes sense lol and thanks for the great video!
Thank you! I'll have to try it out!
vary elegant!
thank you!
Nice!
Looks very good
Thank you very much!
Its very beautiful
Thank you so much!
Masz pięny uśmiech! Pozdrawiam :) :) :)
Your AWESOME
Good job 👏🏽
Thank you so much!
This would also make an excellent side table to go beside your sofa.
Yes, great idea!!
Great project. I've already seen the big reveal. The room looks great. I'd love to make a set of these. I am off to your blog to check out the plans.
Awesome, thank you!
Good job
Thanks
Plan on building a couple of these. Excellent plans! I don’t have a brad nailer but assume you could attach drawer face to drawers with carefully placed pilot holes (including depth) and wood screws from the inside.
Thank you so much!! That sounds like it would work as well if you don't have a brad nailer!
You can also use double sided tape to hold the drawer front in place. Then open the drawer and use a clamp or two to hold the face in place while you secure the face.
Very nice!! How much space do you need to account for to install drawer slides? Like how much bigger does opening need to be for a drawer?
Thank you! You should have at least 1/16" and up to 1/8" depending on how much of a gap you would like for the drawer.
ty ty!! its so nice to see girls who do woodworking UwU
yes, so nice thank you!
Слепила как смогла)))
I bought you ebook on weathered staining. I thought there was a section on how to make the wood look with paint. I have a set of nightstands I am trying to refinish but they are not real wood and I want the modern grey/tan weathered look. I am just not sure what paint colors to use to make this happen.
Does anybody know how to drill the vertical pocket holes to attach the top using a kreg J310 jig?
I like the design. Extend the bottom down by 1" and there is room for a second drawer for home defense items or jewelry.
Thank you!
In the blueprints I purchased, you recommend two additional pocket holes in each of the two lower 13" cross pieces (ostensibly to attach the lower shelf). In the video, no such pocket holes are shown, and in the alternative, it appears that you drilled pocket holes in the lower shelf to attach it to the cross pieces. Since the lower shelf fits within the inside perimeter to the lower cross-members, it seems that the way you demonstrate in the video is preferable to what is described in the blueprints. Do you agree?? Thanks.
Really great instructions. Do you think they could support an aquarium?
Thank you Stephen!! Yes for a smaller aquarium!
Very nice! I like both color and design. I would like to ask you about the color of your bedroom. Is it a dark grey (grafite) and do you have all the walls painted? It is very beautiful. Thank you for all your videos and ideas that you are giving us. Greetings from Greece.❤
When you assemble the side and back 2x2's to the vertical 2x2's using the pocket holes, don't the pocket screws intersect (touch) when you fasten them?
They go in at different angels so it is not likely that they will hit each other in my experience.
I was hoping you was going to show how you tapered the legs, but still looks fantastic... Thank you.....
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the tutorial. When you stained the wood, did you mix both color and then apply? Or did you apply classic gray stain first, wait for it to dry and then apply the early american?
I did one coat of Classic Gray, let it fully dry, then I added one coat of Early American over top!
@@AngelaMarieMade thanks 😊
Awesome work! Any chance on making an accompanying headboard and footboard?
Thank you!! Not at the moment, but thanks for the idea!!
@@AngelaMarieMade are the plans on your site for this project meant for 2 night stands or just 1?
just 1
Hi, Angela! I am just curious about the pocket holes that would be on the side of the drawer. Would that be in anyway dangerous and cause wood splinter?
I usually sand the pocket holes down to a smooth finish to avoid splinters.
@@AngelaMarieMade that makes sense! thanks :)
It's been 11 months since the build. I'm just curious to if it shrunk or warped at all? I want to make these ones but I'm worried about how it will look when the wood settles.
Not at all, that's really only a factor when you are dealing with hotter or colder temperatures and won't have an affect indoors where the temp is controlled.
I just made a set with a few minor alterations
Awesome, thanks for sharing!!!
How long did you wait in-between stain coats
2-3 hours
Hello. Great work! I would like to buy plans in metrics. Is it possible? Thanks
Unfortunately, not at the moment.
Do you have plans or dimensions for the lumber.
I have a link in the description box to my blog post on my website that has a detailed tutorial and build plans for $5.
Hi! The night stand you made is absolutely gorgeous.. i just wanted to ask about the measurements because i can't seem to understand the measurements on the page like what does 2×2@8ft mean? It cannot be 8 feet so i would really appreciate it if you could help me out with the measurements..
I am actually a beginner and i can't understand these measurements can you help me? How do i know which one is height width and length?
A 2x2 @ 8ft means a 2 inch by 2 inch wood board that is 8 ft in length. If you scroll down to step 1, you can see where you'll make the cuts on the 2x2 8ft board. The width is how wide something is, the length is how long. I would start here and see if that answers your questions on lumber sizing! Hopefully that will help! angelamariemade.com/intro-to-woodworking-lumber-size-guide-free-printable/
do you buy finish wood or do you by framing wood and sand it down?
It depends on the project but in general I will try and use framing lumber as much as possible to cut down on costs. For this piece where the legs are showing, it is nice to have straighter edges that you get with the finished wood.
@@AngelaMarieMade thank you! for all the great pointers!
Is this a good project for a newbie to woodworking? Too difficult?
The drawers are a little advanced but I think it is definitely do-able for a beginner! I would just work slowly and make sure to follow the directions carefully!
so you align up everything to perfection, drill your holes by eye and when screw is in, everything shifts. how to avoid it?
I used to have the same problem but then I found out about this self centering drill bit, and it makes a huge difference here is the link(affiliate): amzn.to/2Rm1XvA
How much did everything cost you?
It’s about $90 with the premium and $50 with the cheaper wood to build one of them.
Are those true 2x2s? Or 1.5”?
They are 2x2s - of course that is the nominal size and the actual size of a 2x2 is 1.5x1.5. For more information on nominal vs. actual size, check out my blog post on it: angelamariemade.com/intro-to-woodworking-lumber-size-guide-free-printable/
I tried building this nightstand but unfortunately I cannot get the top to square. I have followed all the instructions cut everything to measurements indicated but it just doesn’t square
It depends how far off it is, I have come across this where it is close to being square but off by 1/16" or 1/8" and it won;t affect the end result. If it is more than that then maybe check your wood for warping or cupping.
hi how can I get the plans?
They are available on my blog! angelamariemade.com/diy-nightstand-with-drawer/
Yeah, there’s no going around it, I’ll have to buy a pocket holes jig..
It is a game changer! I love mine!
