Being a good citizen≠being a good muslim with morals, there are tons of religious schools in Europe especially muslim ones who provide good muslim environment and also providing good education so it’s possible, but when the muslim Community in the us doesn’t prioritize islam and sticking together this happens…

I didn’t grow up Muslim, I went to many schools dances & honestly… it’s not worth it. Spend a bunch of money to get dressed up, the food is picked over & usually not that great, & everyone tends to be either. Bit awkward or so in their ego they don’t realize anyone else is in the room. As far as being a girl goes, we usually don’t end up with any of the guys who ask us to prom, they tend to want things only a husband should get, & many end up sneaking drinks/drugs so they are like zombies… really, it would be better to have all girl or all boy parties, the intermixing is not a good idea & I honestly regret going to any of them.

I tend to come across very socially awkward & some see me as extremely shy to a fault or stuck up/rude because at work (😭 no I don’t want to work, I am no boss babe) I literally keep my head down & get very short with men. Like I am not mean but I just don’t say much & I find it weird how much validation men seem to seek from woman, particularly if they try to be “friends.”

I'm 76 and it was our intro to all haram stuff, alcohol, sexy prom gowns, after prom parties.
I forbid my son to go and he knew it was due to Islam.
Crazy you have to tell them or explain to them why they can’t go. It’s the parents fault because if you raised them with pure Islam at a young age you shouldn’t have to even mention prom to them. It’ll be know years and years before prom that it’s haram and definitely out of the question.

Solution is start watching Quran tafseer with your whole family in your main television instead of other bs otherwise you have failed as parents. I do that too and it works on some of my family members.
Parents are almost 100% to blame. Until the kids become adults islamically. Ive been cooking every weekend for these graduation parties that the mothers lie to me about being segregated but i witness them coming back to the restaurant watching snap chat videos of music etc. the parents are living vicariously through their kids because they never got to have that haram lifestyle. FOMO: fear of missing out. Lets make an excuse to party and dress innappropriately in front of teenage boys at our kids graduation party
There is many aspects and anything is looked at case by case. There is many factors even if parents are good but could be the kids don’t want to follow Islamic path. We could only make dua for them and ourselves to lead us to the right path.

As a US born Muslim who is now in the 60th decade of life, I can tell you there is hope. We had no support, no masjid, no halal sources of food, no Islamic schools, no hijabi’s, no infrastructure at all. We had our parents and 8-10 other Arab/muslim families in the area.
Yes, kids are influenced, yes kids will stray, but the best thing you can do as a parent is teach your children well! Teach them, support them, take them overseas, keep them close to others who are like them.
We have so much more now, masjids nearly everywhere, the internet! We can do this inshallah!

I think it’s important to note how Tiktok/Instagram and all these social media’s are designed to make these videos popular and trending.
I saw a video of someone who looked at a trending Tiktok video, where the top comments with thousands of likes were all feminist. That person sent the video to their partner. All the top comments for him were masculine/making fun of women with thousands of likes.
So not only is content being fed to people based on their tastes, but that same content is now displaying to people tailored comments that are specifically more aligned with the viewers personality/tendency/views.
So perhaps someone who saw that prom video, might have seen Islamic comments on the top with the most likes. Another teenage girl may have seen feminist comments on the top. And some other person may see masculine/red-pill comments on the top.
This leads to people believing their viewpoints are the most common and anyone they meet in real life with a different opinion (or Islamic opinion) is an “outcast” minority.

I literally can't find the "viral" video or a repost anywhere on google, youtube, tiktok, or instagram. The only thing that comes up when I search for a muslim prom proposal is this video right here. Weird.
Where I live we don't exactly have an American style prom, we had a banquet my mom wanted to go intially but after the speeches the open floor dance began. The music was ear defeaning you had to put your ear close to the mouth of the person speaking to you, unless you were all the way on the other side of the hall. It was practically a club minus the alcohol like my mom said.
It's not too different from an American prom. Except that there's no speeches and banquets here.
State school is what we call a public school in the UK. Jazakum Allahu Khairan for covering this topic. Unfortunately, here in the UK we import ALL that is American Cultural Practices. Allah Al mustaa'n 😢
And then also we have the aspect of youth and they're need for feeling loved by someone and the urge to be with the opposite gender. This aspect is literally neglected from parents and today muslim parents totally just ignore the fact that their kids have needs if not put in halal will find an unhalal path unfortunately especially in today's day and age
So there should be a big emphasis on early marriage. And we should start to learn about it and teach ourselves how to start adapting it.. because early marriage is also a responsibility and we need to raise kids with the bare minimum of maturity and Taqwa to be able to get married young as we admire them
sadly, very few muslims want to get married before age 20. They and their patents are brainwashed into thinking that worldly education like college is more important. They reject proposals so much that some never get married. Big mistake

I study at a school in a muslim country. Don't think that muslim countries are an islamic haven, the fitnah is also rampant here. Practicing islam completely on the Sunnah is seen as strange amongst young people. Watching movies, tv shows, listening to music, not wearing the hijab and wearing tight clothes is seen as normal. I don't mingle with others much and mostly keep to myself to avoid the fitnah, otherwise you'd find yourself pressured into accepting what they do. I even met a girl who had done a nose job. She was 18 years old. Keep in mind, we're mostly all muslims. But many of the people's faith is weak. Oh and there's also prom here, not everyone goes to it but they still hold it. We are in times of fitnah, Allahul musta'an. May Allah guide us all and keep us steadfast.

Any Muslim school is private school and expensive unfortunately. It only favors the rich because they can afford it and the very poor because they can get funding through choice programs. With not so good teachers. The ones with decent jobs and little disposable savings can only afford public schools because of the high costs of living in cities which attracts a lot of Muslims. Homeschooling is a likely option but cones with many sacrifices as well

I’m an opponent to Islamic schools having attended one myself. I understand that public school are problematic, and probably more so than from when I was in school. Removing children from their peers does not allow children to gain nuance in learning how to deal with and recognize these issues in the first place. You are attempting to put your kids in a bubble so that they become ignorant rather than learn abt the problems and learn how to handle them according to their age. Your children will someday become adults and they will then not have the nuance that something is haram bc in real life haram is not so black and white. Better you expose your children safely and keep them close, talk to them and also be involved yourself in their lives and be aware of the problems and provide them guidance. It is the more difficult path bc it takes all your parenting energy bc it places everyone out of their comfort zone and requires hard work, but there is no replacement for good parenting in the end. Full time islamic schools won’t save you. Better to augment regular school with strong extracurricular programs to build a strong sense of community for ppl of every age and help to support the family and promote new families.

Another part of the fitnah of raising children in the West. There are those of us who are not in the position to afford Islamic school, or maybe there is no islamic school in our area (Mississippi) or we cant afford to move. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning) in Surah Al Taghbun "fear Allah as much as you can". Allah Azawajel burdens no one beyond his or her scope...
Try looking into homeschooling or even online schools. There are some accredited and affordable ones like Accellus Academy.
Mississippi and many of the Southern states are considered home-school friendly. It is not hard to set up a curriculum yourself and set up your own homeschool approved by your local county school administrator or find a free or low priced curriculum online, remove anything or subject that is incorrect or against Islam, and use that for instance mathematics from one source and languages from another
