    Absolutely love the idea of color relationship as the beginning process. It really is proven as she progresses with the next layers. Those initial colors come thru as the light passes thru the outer colors , even though we think they are covered up. Simply beautiful !!! Thanks for sharing…….

    I've watched Camille ever since I saw her work in I think it was American Artist but was told she was really stern and hard on students, so I ended up taking workshops from another Henshe follower. In retrospect, it may not have been the best strategy but so it goes. I also have a long workbook that was published by some one on Henshe's process, which is formidable without a mentor to help you.

      Yes, her good advice is to get someone you can work with and not skip around, I did that when taking a six-year stint with a young painter from Rockport Mass. T.M. Nicholas, who came to Lake Tahoe area to teach plein air. Good painter, and a pretty good and "direct" instructor. He said things like, if you were "stingy" or weak with your oil paints,..."Forcrissakes, Use Some Paint!! ...They'll make more!!" LOL :D

      I studied with her for two years. I never saw her stern or unreasonable. She challenged us, she nudged us along, but she was always very gracious.

      @@artschoollive It may have been that my two "informants" were more hobbyists than serious about their painting. I used to be more trusting of reviews. Now I trust my personal experience.

      @@ronschlorff7089 oh, I see TM's work and his father's as well in American Art Review. Good painters, I agree.

    Nice one Eric and Camille, as usual. Yes, Camille is a pioneer in California plein air circles, beginning in the mid 90's when I started doing landscapes having done wildlife in the studio for years before that, in acrylics, and gouache, in the style of my idol Robert Bateman. Now my idols for landscapes are Edgar Payne, historically, and current PAPA founder Matt smith. Google their works kiddies. So, I not only began doing a different genre but switched to oils from acrylic, a learning experience, and also alla prima or plein air wet into wet. Not easy at first! Good medium, oils, for plein air though, unlike water media which requires different techniques and is less forgiving in my opinion. So, if you start your painting badly, like with a stupid composition or something, you can wipe out and stop beating the "poor horse", when it first dies on you, and get a second chance to get a painting that, at least, "sucks less" than most of your other work, ....just maybe! LOL ;D.
    Yes, my dear wife had cataract surgery last year, so I asked, "how did those Cadillacs get in there, anyway"? LOL. Nice vid Camille, I watched the whole thing, which is unusual for me, I usually skip through most of them of Eric's. You had a lot of wisdom and good advice to impart in this one, glad you are still doing well. I'm a "gray-ish painter" mostly but enjoyed your colorist approach.
    Lots of great color here in beautiful southern Arizona by the way!!

    I took a workshop from her on Cape Cod, I got lost, came late she seemed annoyed. I was a beginner painter in oils the workshop said beginners accepted. She was very impatient with me, yelled at me for using the wrong color, asked her to explain, she grabbed my brush, and harshly said it is pink Then walked away! Her husband heard her harshness, I was crying and embarrassed at that point. He kindly said, I will help you, and apologized. Then explained. I determined to never take a workshop with her ever again. She was rude and impatient. Not a person who should be teaching. I DO LOVE her work though.

    Przewodek = p-sheh-VOH-dek
    both e sounds like the e in 'entry'; OH as in 'go', w=v
    Don't lose the music and beauty of the original language by imposing English pronunciation on these letter groups.
    You can put this into google translate to hear it.
