    You just saved me a LOT of work and stress!!! Your “cutting” the the stone layout in half with the mold is GENIUS!! I am having to run a path from my deck to the pool and it’s going to be at a hard angle. So i was trying to figure out how to chop bricks into triangles for the big triangle space it’s going to create between the path and deck stairs. Now i am going to just cut it like you did

    This is the best video i have seen on using these molds. Thank you for sharing this. I will be starting my pathway in the next week depending on the weather. Thank you for sharing the video again. Much appreciated.

    Hint; Mix 50% cement and 50% sand. Mix it wet. Using a paint brush (4") , brush the mix into the surface. This will cover any aggregate and give you a smooth, lighter gray finish. Of course you can't do this on colored cement but you can add coloring to the cover mix. This must be done when the cement is still wet. Experiment first.

    Thanks! Great advice about what happens if you don't use enough water. I think someone said somewhere the consistency should be like peanut butter.

    looks good and i agree with you that quikrete is NOT what they claim. i used 20-80 pound bags for steps. i did what they claimed- 3quarts and it was to dry. As i did more bags i used about 5 quarts and it was better. I dont really agree with quikrete and wish they would have been more honest.

    Do you think you can pull the mold when the batch of cement is still usable? I'm looking into getting more than one colour per mold and I want to do a few molds per day.

    Talking about the line that goes down the your path. did you turn the stencil 90° on your next poor? Because I know mine says that you're supposed to rotate the form for your next form 90°

      I know a guy who water sprays it, and sprays it with vegetable oil before starting a new mold. I think I'll try that.

    Will a 60Lb bag be enough to fill one mold? Reason I ask is because thats what some folks are recommending from Amazon reviews.

    • @sandiegobirdman
      @sandiegobirdman  5 років тому

      The 80 lb bags in the video each made just about 2 molds. So 60 lb should fill one and then some

    • @atxjax1
      @atxjax1 5 років тому

      @@sandiegobirdman Thanks for the heads up. I will have 2 molds so I will get the 80 lbs bag and do both at the same time.

    • @brianbenz5183
      @brianbenz5183 5 років тому +1

      I would not use 2 molds. You'll have double the space in between as you use them. YOu can remove the mold immediately after you fill with concrete, no need to wait, and just start using that one again

    • @atxjax1
      @atxjax1 5 років тому

      @@brianbenz5183 Thanks. I'll be doing a double wide path so two will help me out a lot.

      The gaps between stones within your mold and the gap between stones of adjacent molds will be different. Between molds the gap will be twice as big and the mold form will be easily noticed. Not a look most would want but maybe that's what you're going for. good luck.

    How many can you do in a day. I need to do 150. Good video by the way. Thanks.

    • @sandiegobirdman
      @sandiegobirdman  5 років тому +1

      You probably could do one bag every half hour if you're busting tail. Each bag does almost 2 forms. I did it slow and spread it out over a couple days. Highly recommend more water than what it says on the bag

    I'm no expert, but this guy is laying this stuff directly on top of the soil, surely that can't be right! Don't you have to put down some sort of membrane and sand first, or at least plastic and sand?
