Great video as always...i was thinking about this trace color but looking at your video it didnt made a big difference...that helps in making my decision...thanks...
Hi Ash - i think the trace colors program would be useful if you are using the rest of the redsea program including nopox. Their manuals clearly recommend using the entire product line: foundation buffers , nopox, aminos and trace elements. For me, it didn't seem to make a difference using it on its own
Great video I have not started dosing yet and I have my aquarium up for a year now and I just started checking my levels on my aquarium like November 6 and my phosphate was at 0.76 and before I did a water changes it was at 0.24 I did a 30 gallon water changes and here's my results November 11 2018 11 am PH 8.2 Temp 79.0 Salinity 1.026 Alkaline 10.3 Calcium 420 Magnesium 1400 Phosphate 0.67 Nitrate #2 0 ppm Nitrite #3 10 ppm Ammonia 0 ppm My 165watt light's the blue channel is at 50% now My white channel is at 15% now I have a video of my aquarium before my water change

What program are you using to log your nitrate and phosphate when you were showing you were at .24 while dosing I like how you were able to see the ups and downs of the nutrients
i test manually and then record the data on apex fusion for record keeping and plotting. Regarding test kits - please check out my 2 year vid - it has a whole section on testing ua-cam.com/video/VzZzjvu2Gds/v-deo.html
Great video. I did see substantial increase in nutrients and my sandbed turned a variety of colors. What I did was take the money I spent on the trace elements and got a very good salt. Switched to tropic Marin which is expensive but had more of the trace element in the salt so don't have to dose and the switch was more beneficial and I don't have to adjust the dosing as much since the salt mixes closer to the parameters I want in the first place.
great points... I've also considered switching up my salt; although, things are going well that I am hesitant to make a big change to the system at this point
@@TheBioReef I hear you. I mixed the salts in the beginning gradually mixing more of the new salt and even then saw improvement. I was one of the people that thought salt doesn't matter. thank you for this video, I have a question for you just to put it up there do you think you got more growth from dosing this than normal? I can see a very small change in colour to the pictures that was in your video. my last question on this topic because I plan to use the trance elements to lower my nitrate with nopox without stripping my po4 back down. how do you work out the amount of calcium per day your tank is using. thumbs up for this vid.
I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary when it came to growth. To figure out calcium consumption. the best way is to test it, then leave the tank as is without dosing or water changes for 2 to 3 days, then measure again. Subtract the value from the second test from the first test and then divide that by the number of days that have passed between the two tests; that will give you the daily consumption of Calcium. Then dose a supplement that will provide the exact amount of calcium your tank is consuming daily.
What would have been great but more money, is to do an icp test , before then after to see if ur water quality changed for the better, every time I do one, no matter what I do something’s lacking, I think that’s a waste of money
What kits are you using to do all of your testing? And are you taking the results and just inputting them manually into the Apex Online? Or are these things testing automatically and uploading to apex on their own? I only ask because I have been patiently awaiting that Neptune Trident and I was wondering if you had an alternative

Were you using the red sea coral nutrition "reef energy" at the same time. Do you need to dose trace with energy to get better growth and or coloration?
No; i only dosed the trace colors. in theory, it shouldn't really matter, but RedSea does recommend using their colors program with all of their other systems (foundation buffers, reef energy)
Aren’t u dosing esv bionic??, that already has all trace elements in it, I’ve use the Red Sea also , didn’t see much of a change, but I dosed it when using plain brs two part, I did like the fauna marin liquid trace elements into the brs liquids, that seemed to work well but it always seemed that there was sediment on the bottom of the container, so I stopped that also!
i do dose ESV Bionic, but i am not sure if their trace elements are at high enough concentration to make a dent... is there anything published about what the actual concentrations of trace elements in ESV b-ionic is?
AmroAzul TV EV bionic suggests equal part dosing for both calcium and alkalinity whereas Red Sea foundation uses different amount for each element. My guess is that you won’t see any significant changes if not fully implementing the Red Sea reef recipe program. Your corals are doing great and healthy. Why bother making some changes to stress out your corals that are happy with your existing environment. My simple thought is “ don’t fix anything if it ain’t broken”. Thanks for sharing. Happy reefing :-)
ttnguyen98 yes - I agree I think the Redsea supplements are best when used as a program - their nopox will strip away all the nutrients which you then have to add via reef energy and color supplements. I totally understand the logic of not changing things that work. But what can I say - I love to experiment!
