As someone who only knows the Persona and mainline MegaTen battle systems, this game's battle system FASCINATES me. I can't even tell what's happening because the menus go by so fast
They could implement movement skills to make zipping around the battle field satisfying, like having temporary flight from winged demons or being able to teleport position between demons to either attack quickly or make the switched demon Repel an attack aimed at you

If you're wondering about Bufula and Dyne, Dyne is always better and does more damage but since your limited with MAG in this game I can understand why you wonder that. Bufula is 8 MAG and Dyne is 18. It's a 10 MAG different for more damage.
Well, 3 months of difference, but MAG is a scarce resource in this game, so, sometimes a low grade spell is better used. The 99999 Loyalty is Legit, you carry it over NG+ and he is playing on Hard Mode too.
I would suggest to lower your luck as low as possible in your first playthrough to hunt down the riders, even tho you need to be prepared for the concenquencies.

A single Fruit was able to take Vergil from "a walking corpse who got his _ass_ handed to him by Dante's weakest form" to "as strong as Dante's _strongest_ form." And it's implied Mundus had _multiple_ Fruit (when Sparda sealed the human and demon realms, it wasn't just to protect the humans; it also nearly killed the Qliphoth). Then there's Mundus's creation powers. The entire plot of Nocturne is that Luci is going through a lot, and I mean a LOT, of trouble just to create one new demon. One. Meanwhile, Mundus can create new demons basically on a whim. He created Trish with very little difficulty, and while Trish isn't on Dante's level she's still damn powerful

That's because the Battle System in this game is far superior than Persona's turn based system that's honestly pretty slow and boring.

I would prefer a remake. The gameplay is so outdated but the story and artstyle should be kept or make it more cleaner.
