Here's the thing. A Sweden living Dutch singer of a Finnish metal band is singing Latin salsa in Spanish on a Dutch tv-show filmed in Ibiza, Spain. And she kills it. ❤🌷💃

Rolf Sanchez, the guy on the couch, originally wrote this with a Salsa beat and he was obviously blown away with how Floor changed it to more of a metal song.

You also forgot that she doesn't speak Spanish, and normally covers their songs in English on the show. She learned the proper annunciation and inflect because she wanted to show love to her large latin crowd out in the world. She truly is something special that not very many if any at all can match.

Floor Jansen is a true rare quality in the music world. She dressed and looked the part for this song as immense respect for roots of the song. And OMG her voice once again, was just totally crazy.
Floor does not speak Spanish. However, she attempted to learn this song very quickly for all of her Spanish speaking fans around the world. Floor was a little nervous about this song. She had never sung in Spanish before and she wanted so much to pay respect to the original song and the entire culture. I think she was please with the result. Rolf Sanchez (original singer)seemed to love it! What a smile on his face. 💖💎☝
"That guy" is Rolf Sanchez who wrote and performed this song originally. LOL. If you want her singing in another language on this show try her singing Vilja Lied in German.

The fact that she chose to learn proper annunciation, and sing it in its original language, without knowing a word of Spanish beforehand, shows just how amazing she truly is. She is the true queen.
A big part of classical voice training is about dramatic performance in addition to pure technique. Floor took those lessons to heart, because she becomes everything she sings. It's not even like someone playing a part. It's like she IS the character.
In this show, Floor told she was very nervous to perform this song as she does not speak Spanish. That is probably why she grounds herself for a few seconds before the song starts and is so relieved when it is done.
You can react now to her live version of Slow, Love, Slow. She dropped it a week ago. It's a jazzy song. Just to see how versatile her voice is.

I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here.
She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have a daughter. ( Freja )
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish.
Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.

You should compare this to Rolf Sanchez' original version to hear the difference in styles. He recorded it as a salsa, and she turned it into a metal ballad.
Listen to more of what aired during this season of Beste Zangers, too. Tim Akkerman did a version of Nightwish's "Nemo" that impressed Floor...and hearing Henk Poort cover the Disturbed version of "Sound of Silence" should be ASMR-worthy.
Same for Henk's version of Your Man. :)
My favorite from Beste Zangers is Winner. I can't remember if you have watched this before, but it's so powerful. It feels the song was written for Floor. Great reaction!

In the last decades Floor has been singing with him. In this video we see Floor, the blond Anneke van Giersbergen (Dutch) and the red haired Mexican singer Marcela Bovio. Marcela lives in the Netherlands and is one of the most frequently appearing singers in the work of Arjen collected under the name AYREON projects.

I love u call him that guy on the couch. That was the writer and singer of that classic salsa song, as as u see her interpretation of his song blew him away.
Rolf has the best reactions on this show, he's so animated and simply cannot hide any excitement he feels, love him for that.
And can you blame him, having Floor Jansen sing her own very different version of your reggaeton hit song to you, his joy could be felt, not just seen lol.
Floor and the band created this little masterpiece together, and mind you.. Floor didnt speak a word of Spanish and learned the song phonetically.
And yes, the band are an important factor too, this is as far from a reggaeton song as you can get, but it holds all the elements of Spanish rock music in tact, and together they created this great song, one of my favorite songs of the season actually. (the band does this quite often, change a song if needed, usually they tend to be as good or even improve upon the original song, it's crazy)

I frigging loved this when I first it during the initial run of this season of "Beste Zangers". I am not qualified to judge technical singing ability - although it's obvious even to me that Floor is amazing- but you will never convince me that she is not the most versatile singer alive. Anybody singing this song and I would not give them a 2nd look. For some unknown reason, Floor and this song has become one of my favorite Floor solo songs. Watch or play it multiple times a day. She is just so fricken cool.

Another great reaction and yes Floor does pay respect it's in her nature she's very down to earth you'll notice this if you ever watch her on her channel videos of her at home working growing her vegetables patting her cat or dogs and riding her horses. Rolf’s grandma used to sing it to him, but Rolf left the Dominican Republic to move to the Netherlands.. But grandma, who was very dear to him, stayed in the DR.. The big deal about it is: Rolf’s never heard the song since his grandma passed away..

The other singers are well worth exploring. Watch Rolf and Emma in Pa Olvidarte, Samantha in Our Decades In The Sun, Ruben in They Dance Alone and Henk in Phantom Of The Opera (he was the actual dutch phantom for many years). Bonus song: Henk and Emma in Vivo Per Lei. Great one, that!
Loved to see you constantly chuckle over Rolf Sanchez losing his mind over seeing and hearing Floor (He looked like he was seeing a goddess in front of him at the start)🤣Floor doesnt speak Spanish in general,and admitted this was her first time singing in Spanish. Floor doesnt shy away from a challenge,even on a short notice. She is legendary known for being on a plane less then 24 hours later,after Tuomas gave her a call and hearing about the possibilities for her being able to assist them,to finish theyr world tour in 2012,due to Anette being rushed to the hospital with sickness. Toumas told this in the documentary himself,and he was stunned over her personality,dropping everything else and coming to theyr assistance. She went on to memorize theyr entire setlist on a few hours too. So Floor learning things on a short notice,is nothing new. Shes actually famous for making difficult challenges look easy.
We all loved Rolf Sanchez during this season,as he showed us all how we felt whenever we heard and saw Floor,for the first time and ever since. 😆

No contest, one of my top 5 artists ever. Just makes you feel it every time she sings, so powerful. And so versatile. But she also has an amazingly warm humility that belies her tremendous talent.
Rolf, the one on the couch, is a "neighbour".. and i didnt knew that since 1,5 year ago. But in 2018 his at that time soundguy was having 3 times a week dialyse at the hospital, and my girlfriend as well. Only my girlfriend passed away on march 29, 2019, only 36 years old. And that soundguy is really a tall guy but he was riding in a ... mini😂 Rolf and i laughed about it when we spoke each other almost a year ago, haha

The reactions to this particular song are rare because it was in spanish. I loved that even though I don't spanish, she came out there looking like a Señorita to me and from what I could tell nailed the nuances of spanish that I'm familiar with. Other than her performance with Henk Poort of Phantom of the Opera to wrap up the series, this is my next favorite song of hers from the show. I have all these spanish speaking people at work and I've tried to get them to watch it as much as I can. :)

She speaks many languages and sings in even more so they seem to come easy to her; As far as i know she's fluent in Dutch, English and Swedish while also knowing a fair amount of Finnish, which is a really difficult language to learn. It's pretty common that kids learn Spanish in school in europe so it wouldn't surprise me if she not only sings in it but speaks that too. :)
According to Floor...she doesn't speak a word of Spanish, Italian, Latin and hardly a word of German. She translates the words so she knows which is which and how to tell the story. From there it is all phonetic. After learning the song, she goes back to the original to get the finishing touch on pronunciation ...
