Exactly. I was born in '52 and I remember watching it when I was probably 6 or 7 for the first time. The date in the header is wrong. The proof is in the DeSoto ad in the intro. It's a '58. I know because my old man bought a used '58 De Soto in 1960. He loved that car, and so did I.
I’m a 51! Remember the clothes? Still throwbacks from the War years in the 40s. Big shoulder pads for a more “masculine“ look, empowering women who kept the home and family in tact if Dad was overseas. They also had to be the mechanics, bus drivers, factory work, and many other areas in which the woman had to step up, in the absence of a man, if this country’s home front was going to be saved. Movies and Hollywood stars set the style.
Once, at a cocktail party, Groucho ask young thing to retrieve his car keys from his pocket. Groucho's hands were filled with drinks. As the young one reached into his pocket, she said, "I feel silly,". Grouch said, "Reach deeper and you'll feel nuts."
Groucho, like Jesus, Einstein, and several other incredibly bright intellects contributed much, in his own way, to contemporary culture. What a wit & what a man! Endless cleverness! His entire body of work is amazing. I find this deeply comforting. Thanks for posting.
i love Groucho, but you are saying he is on the same level of influence on culture as the likes of Jesus, reason we have a Christian Religion with 1+ billion followers, and Einstein who, among other things, is responsible for our understanding of relativity and the universe.. did i get that right? like i said i love his quick witted, often tastefully crude humor and he is certainly bright.. but come on..
Not 100 year's 😂 100 years ago was 1921, most television didn't come out till the end of the war 1945. Television did start in the late 30s but their wasn't really any programs. Groucho started television in 1949, radio 47
@@m42037 Although you are clearly a Troll, I'll explain anyway... First of all, I didn't write "100 year's" as you did; I wrote "100 years". Secondly, Groucho was in radio and vaudeville long before his TV career, hence, "100 years of entertaining America". Is that clear enough for you, Mr. Troll, or do you need a diagram?
I'm 44 and never "got into" Groucho until this year and I am hoked. Call me a chauvinist but I could listen to him joke about his attraction to women all day. How does this man come up with these jokes on the fly???
Groucho's good, but if you watch his eyes he's looking at cue cards which are hidden from the audience. Sure. He's fast but the contestants were extensively interviewed before the show. Groucho was prepped.
This run isn't 1951, these commercials don't match the show. Most on here are 57-61 only a few are earlier 50s. This show started on television in 1949 right after Ed Sullivan, he started in 48..
This isn't from 1951 and some of the other vids the commercials are wrong to the vids. Most Desoto commercials are 1954 when the show is from 1960-1 ?? What's wrong with this picture
It's a well known fact that Groucho died one day after Elvis.....his death received very little publicity because of the hype over Elvis's death. Shameful..... Elvis was a comic genius!!!
I was born in '51, but I remember seeing Groucho's show when I was 8 for the first time.

thats probably true.
Can you imagine a game show where the contestants choose "George Washington" as a topic?!? And then one of them knows all the answers!
Groucho was very quick witted and extremely intelligent!
thats british level wit!
he'd do well here!

The episode would date to 1957, because the Desoto was a 57 model.
I often wondered if any couples ever met on You Bet Your Life and Got Married.
Thanks for this. It would be nice to know the date the episode aired.
I found it, 22 Feb. 1951.

Those DeSotos are more like from 1957.
This may have been rerun during the summer of 1957 and this print may have been from that rerun.

I love Groucho, but contestant Nina drove me batty with her constantly licking her lips.
The woman Needs to stick with the Or reginal 29 years old, And the man needs to add at least 15 years to his age, He is no way 25
