    Mustang Speed Sensor.
    The speed sensor on your 1983-1993 Fox Mustang could be causing cruise control issues or idle problems. Replace yours today with this high quality replacement and keep your speedo and cruise control working right. This is the electronic speed sensor that your Mustang speedometer gear attaches to. It relays information to the computer to let it know the speed of the transmission output shaft. They can sometimes go bad, leak, or often get broken during a repair procedure. A speed sensor is needed for anyone converting a 1986-1988 car to mass air.
    Application: 1983-1993 Mustang

    I did this last week,a word of caution,the little bracket that holds the sensor down has a little provision on it that in our minds seems like it would go over the boss on the transmission where the bolt goes in,most of them DON'T.
    What happens is, we take the sensor out for the first time and we dont pay attention and we assume when we put a new one in or the old one back on that that little holder goes over the boss but it doesn't, it just sits on it so dont go crazy torquing this down trying to get it over the boss,just snug it up and your done, it will hold the sensor down just fine even though it looks weird.
    I did some research before i did this and i saw probably a dozen pictures on the internet of that sensor and i think on maybe 1 or 2 that aluminum boss on the tranny was machined down to accept that sensor holder but on most it isn't, why? i have no clue.

    So the cable retaining clip isn’t supposed to sit against the sensor body?

    My fox body is swapped to carb. Speedometer is not working but noticed that speed sensor plug is broken and wires are cut too. Can I use car without speed sensor connected

    • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  5 місяців тому

      Yes, you can leave it disconnected. If the speedometer isn't working then there is something wrong mechanically with the cable, speedometer gear, driven gear in the transmission, or the cluster. -Landan

    what can I do if the speedo gear got stuck in the trans when I removed the sensor?

    • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  2 місяці тому

      Wiggle the driveshaft back in forth to see if that allows enough movement to remove the speedo gear. You may have to use a thin pair of needle nose pliers to remove it. Worst case, you'll have to pull the tail shaft on the transmission. -Landan

    I've noticed you have almost no videos applicable to us with the 2.3L 4 banger; and definitely nothing for my 2.3 with 8 spark plugs on my four cylinder. When will you acknowledge us?

      It will be perfectly fine to pull this back out and add the gear back on if you did not have it there before.

      Normally, a bouncy needle is due to a lack of lubrication in the cable. You may try this first and see if that changes anything.

    and the third is the stupid electrical connector that has two white wires and gives you no sense for those foxbody enthusiasts that want to (mentioned) convert there cars to maf from 86-88 which is positive and which is negative?? my 86 never had a speed sensor from are good ole factory here in the D, the way i figure it it could run on a backwards signal and not even be worth installing cause it doesn't work right. why is there two unmarked wires??? asked this last year and never got a response from them. good ole LMR takes over a week to get anything to Michigan.
