Used to love track days on my old RGV 250 going up against bigger bikes that blew me away on the straights but I'd brake a mile later and duck in past them in the corners. I'm not exactly what you'd call the best of riders but with these little strokers i felt more of an achievement because i could push their limits more than big bikes.
Loved your battle with the grey big four took him several times on the corners then he'd always come back on the straight! Great video memories of my 89 KR1
It is such a massive shame that two stroke race replicas are no longer produced, they are a very special breed. Thank you so much for sharing the video. :)
I'm sure the big manufacturers could make a modern, clean two stroke engine. They just choose not to. I stopped watching the Moto GP when they switched to the four stroke bikes. It just wasn't the same after that...
my fav track on my kr1s ive had from new, i ended up in the fast group, after years of practise, the med group was just to slow in the end.. its a great 250 track. so is donington and short brands. i use avon am22 am23 makes the bike taller but you got to drop a tooth on the front sprocket and raise the front mudguard old school proddy race tyres sticks like shit to a blanket even in the wet. plus gutted og pipes and cut airbox. pro2 oil and octaine booster. nippo plugs. polished exhaust ports and valves. now im riding rat gsxr cafe racer and the kr1s is in need of some tlc in the shed... best i sort it out.. hope you still got and use the little beast.. happy riding and dont forget to replace them pistons..
Went from cambridge to Wembley arena on back of a kr1s in 93, fook my arse hurt by time I got there, I was only 16,skinny as a rake so I didn't weigh much, that thing was hard to stay on the back of when opened up through 2nd and 3rd and 4th. Fun looking back though lol.

First bike was a RG125F in 1994. Derestricted it straight away and rode like a twat! I rode on of these very briefly, they are mental. RIP 2 strokes.
Stroker around Cadwell = pure bliss / great vid
ahh - took me back to my youth - it always was a brilliant little bike, amazing what you could ride around on that machine - thanks for sharing

I has a kvss in the 90', light, fast, glued on the road.. very good trip
The corner speeds of the KR just show the ability of the rider and bike to overhaul the larger four strokes
Takes me back raced a kr1 in 96-97 happy times
Can definitely see who is on a fast bike and who is a fast rider..
