      Cocktail of Feelings fuck same to me tho. also 11pm before i finally fall asleep hungry watching caitlins videos. sometimes i fuck up and watch videos while i sleep, so i wake up totally irritated why caitlin is talking about food from my shelf. Thankfully this only happens when its holidays time.

    I started watching your videos a while ago, maybe a year or so and although I am not vegan, I have cut out a majority of animals foods and processed foods. I grew up with a family who always made homemade so once I got to university I continued that trend but in the last 6 months I have cut out pork, beef, and other meats like that. Honestly, I only eat meat when I am with my family because I don't want to be a burden, but by myself its just LOTS of veggies, fruits, avocado, beans, and rice. I am so healthy now and I think your videos have had an effect on my positive eating choices! So thank you :)

      Jane Oring i totally understand the situation with your family! when i go to events and stuff they never know what to cook or set aside for me so i eat before i go to take care of that :/ sometimes they kind of just "forget" about my "diet" so that they don't have to "worry".

    YAS, I love the message! I feel like many of my fellow students restrain from eating more whilst studying for finals bc they are not ~exercising~ but actually studying itself is pretty draining and plus you're burning way more calories than you imagne due to stress. So, yea, it's totes normal to feel hungrier during finals and it's totes okay to eat more!

    Why would someone leave you a hate comment because you used a microwave?

    • @tinnssaa
      @tinnssaa 7 років тому +9

      when you microwave your food it destroys many important nurients in it! when you heat something up in such a short amount of time it changes the molecular structure of what you are eating.. i also heard it can change what goes on inside your body in someway but not sure on that one (i'm sure it also only applays in extreme cases). that's what's wrong with microwaves but if you don't do it too often you should be fine... but maybe consider heating your food up in an oven or in water even though it takes longer :)

    • @Alana-mn1oo
      @Alana-mn1oo 7 років тому +3

      microwaving has harmful radiation in it for any living thing. it destroys the nutrients in food.. i haven't used one in years

    • @dustflow8144
      @dustflow8144 6 років тому +27

      Nothing is wrong with a microwave. People who think there is tend to just be scared of technology in general, it has the same effect on nutrients as all other ways of cooking and gives off no harmful radiation.

    If you want a healthy salty snack that requires no effort to eat, try popcorn! Not the microwaveable kind because it always has palm oil, but plenty of the pre-popped ones are sold with only popcorn, salt, and canola or olive oil as ingredients so it's healthy and also easier than microwaving it.
    (You could also buy kernels and pop them yourself but that's way more work)

    Regarding your breakfast, consider grinding your chia seeds (coffee grinders are great for it) as our body has a hard time digesting them otherwise. Also a little bit of pepper will help you obtain the Curcumin in the Tumeric. Also a little bit of fat (I use coconut butter/oil) will enable you to obtain the vitamin e from your oats.
    Hope you nailed you finals
    P.S you're too adorable :)

    • @SM91
      @SM91 7 років тому +18

      Hey :) Yes, you definitely have to wean yourself off of using too much salt! Takes a little while, but once you have, you feel like the amount you used to eat before is way too much :D Also, I switched to Himalayan salt because it is better than regular salt :)

    • @CaitlinShoemaker
      @CaitlinShoemaker  7 років тому +32

      Jillian Rose I grew up in a family where we never really salted our food, so it was not really that hard for me when I consciously decided to cook with less or no salt. I can definitely see how it would be harder if you are used to doing it a lot. Small steps are definitely key!

      Jeremy Miller not true. In order for us to absorb the turmeric you need black pepper. www.turmericforhealth.com/turmeric-queries/best-time-to-take-black-pepper-for-max-turmeric-absorption

    • @CaitlinShoemaker
      @CaitlinShoemaker  7 років тому +4

    • @naomi3kids1
      @naomi3kids1 7 років тому +7

      Caitlin Shoemaker of course they don't put pepper in the pills, but your body won't get the full benefit from the curcumin without it. Just like magnesium won't absorb without calcium.

    Alright I need to say this: this is like the fifth video in a row I have watched from you, even tho I'm not vegan nor do I watch this cause I want to be vegan or something, I just like to eat healthy that's why I'm here BUT I LOVE how you are not being like "my life has been so much better since I'm a vegan" or "everyone should do this" etc. You are just yourself and it is the best thing to watch so thank you so much for having me see this fifth video and forgetting that I'm watching vegan videos. You rock

    (I know this was made 6 months ago) microwaves are fine and sometimes better as you are just boiling the water in the veg and reduce the amount of vitamins lost. It's more for products you don't eat as a vegan that people have to worry about as with meat it might not reheat properly increasing the risk of illness (but as I said not an issue for vegans and vegetarians)

    I tried plant based/vegan before but it didn't last very long. Starting at the beginning of the year, I have been craving more veggies and pretty much no meat or dairy. Your videos are very inspiring and your food looks filling and satisfying. And also toddler friendly. My 2 and 4 years finally got on board with eating kale and now they love it. We pretended to be very hungry caterpillars and since they eat lettuce both my girls tried it with lemon juice on top and have been eating it ever since. :)

    I just finished pretzels for a snack!! Sometimes you just need something crunchy and salty! And they're not the worst thing ever. :)

    I really liked this video. I'm no longer a student but I have been there! My life still very much reminds me of college where I leave my house in the morning and don't come back until late at night so quick and easy things that I can grab and go are important. Unfortunately I haven't found many things that don't require refrigeration or a microwave to heat. I don't have either of those things at my disposal during my day. If you have recipes or tips or tricks for my situation I would love to hear them. Thanks girl!
