Thanks for the video. I did not know about the S2 starters ad thinking back my menu light box must have that problem. I scraped it. I am the idiot. I am in the process of replacing the office 2ft X 2ft recessed 4 tube lights to T5 TUBES. Do these tubes need a starter?
I have dual baton lights that take forever to come on (if they do). The starters glow but nothing happens. Currently have 2x Philips S2 but tried OSRAM ST111, nothing happened. The lights are Osram L 18w/840 (240v). If the lights are in series, would it need 1 or 2 starters? The one i have needs 2, so would that still be series or 2x singular operational tubes (1 starter per tube) ?
I bought an Osram ST151 4.22w, 220-240w Longlife starter off amazon to fit into a normal tubelight. Didnt work. I needed the 4-80w one. Will the 4-65w work? I cant seem to find the 4-80w. I have a single tubelight... 1500m long F58W/840, ø26MM, COOL WHITE. Thanks
for a 5ft 58w t8 fluorescent tube light fitting and the starter switch type is 220-240v 4w to 65-80w fluorescent lamp starter switch for that 5ft fluorescent tube light fitting
The amount of people that have made that mistake 🤣. Go back a few years and there were a multitude of different starter switches available, each one designed specifically for a rather narrow range of tubes. Now it seems there's only three types. They work, but certainly don't start all tubes particularly well.
So what is the internal difference between an S2 and S10 starter that causes that issue as when one opens up eaxh different type of starter they look exactly the same.

This is called the preheat fluorescent light because the using of ballast and starter for working.

i mainly just give councils advice on lighting, they email me for suggestions, but i have always been involved in electrics

Can you fit them in a g9 socket and wire them up to the strip light if you need a new holder for the starter
No they don't, your right. Only switch start ballasts require a starter
Which is the better ballast magnetic or electronic i know magnitic ballasted strip lights are hard to find

the s2 is configured to run tubes in series and S10 Just runs 1 tube
